Video Game General 2.0: Yo Dawg I Heard You Like Remasters And Ports

I’m about to put it in. This’ll be my first true LOTR experience. Never even seen all of the movies.

Lemme know what you think whenever you get a chance.

Kamiya again has to explain to thick headed people the situation surrounding Bayo 2

2nd week sales with Bayo 2 are up

Bayo 2 did taper off and so did Destiny. Fatal Frame also made it’s debut over there along with Danganronpa 2. Smash is still at the top and surprisingly Wii U switched spots with PS4 again for the top home console spot after the Destiny rush. Handhelds are still blowing away everything else though with 3DS leading.

I already posted this in the Lounge, but it’s relevant here as well.

So like, Shadows of Mordor…

Disclaimer: I have never given any remote fucks about anything Lord of The Rings related, besides watching one of the movies.

Even in light of this, this game is fucking awesome.

I guess when you’re going to borrow from a game, you might as well borrow the good bits right? Well, SOM takes it to another level and combines the great aspects of like, 5 different games all at once. Arkham Asylum style combat and stealth, Assassin’s Creed style platforming, Dark Souls style respawn system, GTA’s sheer open world-ness…everything in this game resembles the good aspects of these games and yet somehow molds it into it’s own unique image.

That’s not even to speak on the aspects of the game that make it unique in itself. For instance, the Orc system is amazing and I haven’t even gotten any of the cool abilities yet. What this game does is basically make you feel like an Orc Assassin. Your job is to go around the land of Mordor, searching for intel on high ranking Orc Captains and then eliminating them. Some of these tasks being much easier than others. But your deaths actually have consequences. When you are killed by an Orc Captain, they fucking remember you the next time you see them. And on top of that, they actually get promoted within Sauron’s ranks and become stronger and look different as well. It’s a really interesting dynamic and it really adds a crucial fragment of immersion to the game’s world. You feel like it’s a living, breathing environment that not only changes, but changes AROUND you.

What’s also amazing is the unprecedented sense of choice the game gives you when completing these assassinations. It’s more freedom than I’ve ever seen in any Assassin’s Creed game, that’s for sure. For instance…there’s these giant tiger-like creatures orcs tend to have caged up in their strongholds. My mission was to eliminate an Orc Captain (famed for burning hundreds of human prisoners alive, yes, every single orc captain is unique) in the middle of a huge stronghold. There must have been dozens upon dozens of orcs between me and my target. Well, not wanting to take the stealth route and OBVIOUSLY not wanting to try and take an entire stronghold head on by myself, an idea crossed my mind. Maybe I can let that tiger fucker out of his cage and allow him to wreck havoc on the base, giving me a distraction as I make my way through to the boss.

And you know what? It worked perfectly. Admist the confusion I was able to silently make my way to the target, execute him, and then make my way out without anyone even knowing the better. That was the moment that made me fall in love with this game. There’s no better feeling in a video game then to apply real-world logic to your strategy, and then see it flourish perfectly and realistically in-game.

Graphics are gorgeous on PS4, the environments are varied and incredibly detailed, there’s night and day cycles, varying weather, Orc Outpost schedules that change constantly, shitloads of side content, a really interesting story…this might be what finally makes me interested in Lord of The Rings. Even in itself, it’s a fantastic game so far and I know next to nothing about this franchise.

If you like a game with a bunch of content, exploration, and satisfying as FUCK combat, buy this game. You will not regret it. This post is only a summarized version of all the awesome shit I’ve done in this game. It’s just something you gotta play for yourself.

Kamiya lets the internet bother him way too much. i wish the dude could get some thicker skin.
i’m afraid he will kill himself and leave a note saying “twitter made me do it…sorry lol!”

he probably made P* write a script that alerts him whenever he is named on Gaf

He just gets annoyed when people ask him the same questions over and over even when he answered them a thousand times.

Minecraft: Xbox One Edition is coming to retail a month after its PS4 brethren

Lookin’ like a great deal so far. But seriously, these schedules were probably signed & sealed before the buyout took place.

And I like that Kamiya is so blunt. I wish other developers would be so straight-forward when dealing with the more retarded outliers of their fanbase.

If you ask a question that’s already been answered he’ll make you go through a Tweetception to see the answer. It’s funny.

One thing I’ve never understood: Why is it funny when Kamiya does it, but shunned when, let’s say, Phil Fish does it?
(Noting that Phil Fish is generally considered an asshole, but you have to consider that the majority of peoples’ dislike for him is due to him telling people to fuck off on twitter.)

I think they’re both just assholes that make overrated games (Okami was great).

I guess I should maybe put this in the unpopular opinions thread or something though, since SRK hivemind seems to love Devil May Pretend There’s Depth, et al.

Phil Phish is a dickhead because he actively insults gamers as a whole, not just the idiots who deserve it.

Phil Fish is a hypocrite and lashing out on things for no real reason.

For me, it’s because most anything Fish writes is done with a smarmy, condescending tone. That shit gets old real quick. Meanwhile, Kamiya comes off as more refreshingly curt (“do you eat shit?”, “ask your mom”), though that could also be because English isn’t his first language.

EDIT: And for the record, I don’t like either of these guys’ game(s).

The answer to that is quite simple @Rampage‌
Kamiya makes good games and Fish does not , so i guess that gives him dat free-pass.

Resident evil 2
Devil may cry
Viewtiful J
Bayonetta
Okami (as you mentioned)

VS

…Fez

The only reason why Phil Fish got any notoriety in the first place is because he was featured in Indie Game the movie.

Kamiya earned the right to say what he wants because he pumps out quality original games.

Fish is a whiny Hipster bitch with no credibility

Pedigree. I hear***** he’s pretty cool in person.

  • Don’t like getting involved in gossip.

I remember when Resident Evil 2 dropped when I was in sophomore year in HS(?) and this guy was going OFF on all the cool shit in the game like weapons customizations, and added damage effects etc. He couldn’t stop talking about it. His games STILL have the same reaction, and I’ve found myself in that dude’s position 10+years later, after playing his games(starting with Devil May Cry).

Hell, I still remember Million going off on how awesome VJ is in the same manner.

Kamiya is just that dude.

Kamiya is a whiny bitch too he just makes better games. Like exposed said both need to grow a thicker skin and man up. Also like others said kamiya doesn’t go after the entire demographic just the dumbass individuals who make themselves an easy target…like “my soul has been shattered” star.

How’s “All Our Depth Is Locked Behind a DLC-Paywall” aka Destiny working out for you?

Kamiya also isn’t a smarmy man-baby who is part of one of the most insipid scandals this side of “always online DRM” and telling you who you can and can’t sell your used games to…

<–This ain’t the real coffee smiley, $RK…

This has me seriously considering selling the game back to Gamestop. This manner of fuckery is just unnecessary. At least with actual DLC, you feel like they’re adding shit. Now you’re just giving me what I already own.

it’s a good thing for me that i never liked Halo.
