Video Game General 2.0: Yo Dawg I Heard You Like Remasters And Ports

@Sonichuman‌ please change thread title to: No matter how much FF talk there is it will still always go back to Pokemon.

Those of you guys complaining that the commercial didn’t show gameplay, the intended target audience is not the likes of us. It’s the casuals or occasional gamers who dont play that much. They are trying to get the attention of them to squeeze out the extra dollars. Pretty much every big game does that. Halo, COD, Gears, Battlefield, literally any game does it. They show things that arent actually the game itself to get their plebian minds over to the gamestop and preorder because they thought it was a cool commercial.

Even if it was intended for casuals, they should still be able to see what the game actually looks like.

Stop excusing bad and dishonest marketing.

Bungie has a long history of making cinematic trailers for their games. It’s more tradition now, than anything. They’ve been doing it since before Halo Wars even came out.

There’s plenty of gameplay out there already Po. I personally don’t have issues with live action trailers so long as they give a sense or idea of what the game is about and/or there’s already gameplay footage for the game by the time it comes out. There’s been some pretty awesome live action trailers that have been made.

A few of my favorite live action commercial/trailers for games

That Other M trailer always gets me hot and bothered.

Even if the game itself was ass.

Yeah but you see, the casuals really dont care. And Bungie knows that. So they put something shiny in front of them because they know that they’ll buy it that way. You can’t even cram quality gameplay demonstration into a 30 second commercial. You put gameplay of Destiny on a tv in front of your average dudebro, and up until they title card shows they’ll be like “Man is that the new halo? It looks pretty cool”.

They dont comprehend what they’re seeing and they wont care until after theyve already slammed the disc into their console of choice. If they care, they will youtube it. Otherwise that commercial serves it’s purpose. To get their attention. It’s not supposed to be the dealmaker.

That Destiny commercial was HYYYYYYPE and funny too. Did it persuade me to buy the game? Nope the actual beta did that, but that commercial was just cool in and of itself.

Gamestops commercials for Destiny have gameplay in them, it’s not like that live action commercial is the first, or only commercial there is for Destiny, it’s like the 3rd or 4th honestly. Same deal with Titan Fall, and other games like Halo, which had a couple live action commercials, and bunch of commercials full of gameplay.

In fact the gameplay commercials for Titan Fall where kind of funny because they weren’t long enough to convey all the information they where trying to in a 30 second commercial, made the game look really confusing, but the live action one got the point across nice and clear.

niggas are like females. like to complain just to complain

Yo, I always liked that live action Skyrim trailer. Shit is dope.

Eh, whatever… I don’t have any problems with live-action, if you throw some game footage in there somewhere as well, like that old Smash Bros. commercial with “So Happy Together” playing in the background.

This trend of pretentious, “everything is a movie-like event” live-action just pisses me off.

po, i am starting to think that you perhaps should go to a psychiatrist to check if you are not having some kind of depression or some shit like that.

I’m fine… It’s the rest of you that doesn’t get what a joke almost everything has become.

Putting it that way, I suppose I could excuse it, but it always bothers me. Hell, it bothered me with Halo.

The video even ends it’s links to gameplay trailers & all kinds of gameplay stuff.

Personal favorite live action trailer has to be the ODST trailer.

The Destiny trailer only the actors were live. Everything else was green screen and CGI. If they’re going to use CG then may as well composite some actual in-game footage. That said I’ll take a 2 minute live action trailer when there’s already hundreds of hours of gameplay you can find on youtube thanks to hands-on demos, developer previews, lets plays, and beta footage. This applies to any game.

If Nintendo made a live action Smash Bros 4 commercial akin to the Smash 64 one where you had people inside Mario costumes fighting each other are we still going to complain about no gameplay?

double

I kinda liked the Reach one where Kat is running to set up us the bomb and gets hit by a banshee. That was a cool one too.

Then again I’m like one of a handful of people that genuinely enjoyed Reach so who knows.

I am thoroughly convinced you niggas have NO reading comprehension skills…
