Video Game General 2.0: Yo Dawg I Heard You Like Remasters And Ports

The GTA5 PS3 to PS4 comparison trailer

You can’t tell me there isn’t a huge ass difference here. Things look so much liver on the PS4 version.

It’s supposed to outperform it… That’s why they’re the next generation. Giving them points because they’ve shown signs that they do what they’re supposed to do isn’t something I’m keen on… That’s like saluting a firehose for being able to spew water. However, the gap isn’t as huge as you make it seem. No, PS3 games DO NOT look horrible in comparison to PS4 games. PS4 games don’t look all that better. I mean, better is better, but don’t exaggerate like that.

They still have yet to truly make me look and go “THIS is next-gen.” They’re failing on that point, and improved graphics, lighting, and textures are not going to convince me of anything.

Way I see it

you see a huge improvement in how a NES game would look compared to a SNES Game,
how a SNES game looked compared to a N64 Game
and how that N64 game looked compared to a Game cube game

How a PS1 game looked compared to its PS2 successors and PS2 games looked to PS3.

its like looking at the evolution of human kind from primitive tree dwelling ape to Homo Sapien
Now the Homo Sapiens of Ten thousand years ago look different then the Homo Sapien of today

At a glance you think there both regular humans, but scientist notice the difference in musculature, brain size and Jaw size.

It might be me but I do notice the difference in between the two generations of consoles.

I can’t both Agree, Like and Lol the same Post.

Did you not see the next gen assassin’s creed nonsense?

Look at the HUGE pile of NPCs next gen prototype builds are pushing.

That’s a lot of how game are going to play differently while looking better.

Better graphics means better performance which means more things going on at once.

The engines are getting more articulation, they can be bent harder and in more ways. Imagine much more destructible environments in modern shootbangs, where there’s tons of stuff being blown apart and debris crumbling and other cool stuff (and not like battlefield scripted stuff), hopefully we’ll get some good fun terrain destruction soon.

Or maybe in a game you can use anything in your environment as a weapon. Although some PS4 and XBox One games failed at this

I ain’t buying shit from those two, because other than No Man’s Sky, I haven’t seen shit that interests me.

I recently purchased Shovel Knight, and Azure Striker Gunvolt and I am going to buy Bayonetta 2, Smash Bros., Hyrule Warriors, The Legend of Korra, and the new Pokémon games, because they do interest me. My 3DS gets more action than my PS3, because I only use the latter to play Fighters and Dragon’s Crown occasionally.

When those one of those other two get their heads out of their own asses, and take EA, Ubisoft, and Activision’s dicks outta their orifices and try something new, I might look their way… I don’t need graphics to distract me because I don’t play movies, I watch them.

If Sony(because fuck Microsoft) gets their shit together and gets some action games worth a damn and tries to do something with all that processing power other than shiner textures and better shadows(that’s can’t consistently run 1080p/60fps), then maybe…

What about the next gen fighting games that will come out?

Also I wasn’t too taken on shovel knight, it looked ugly (ok I didn’t mind the looks because megaman is cool) but I didn’t find it that innovative and I was ticked off that a lot of the features aren’t out yet. I guess I’ll hold my opinion on how much I liked it until the game actually comes out, you know where I can play as the boss knights.

I still use it, and it’s good to know I still have my magic touch.

Oh wait I just realized that he said he’s going to buy smash bros AND hyrule warriors.

I mean talk about stagnant gameplay.

You’re gonna be forever waiting… They’ve been promising that shit since The Bouncer…

…and having more NPCs means shit if you’re not interacting with them, or they’re all just fodder like Dead Rising 4’s Zombie hordes that aren’t a threat until you jack up the difficulty, but then the game sputters and drops frames like a rookie drops combos on stream.

Nigga hush. Smash changes greatly between each iteration, and as a multi-player game, no two games ever play out the same. Also, I’ve never seen a Musou game with Zelda-style exploration and items before.

You’re clicking Disagree on my posts, yet your posts do not explain why I’m wrong. There’s a difference…yes. A huge difference…no, not yet. You’re really just saying a whole bunch of nothing. No offense, of course.

Pokemon games have a lot of evolution between games.

They totally change completley every gen and always add something fresh in the gameplay mechanics. Thats why po is a fan, because it always innovates the game every time and no 2 pokemon games feel a like.

I’ve played the loc test, this does nothing that Brawl didn’t do and I didn’t enjoy brawl that much.

Like I still play counter strike (csgo BABY) but it hasn’t changed at all since 1.6 (minor recoil patterns and damage balancing, some not so minor, rip deagle) but I’m not the one crying that people have stopped making games.

Please expand on how Brawl and Smash4 have changed SO SIGNIFICANTLY that I seem to be blind to.

(also pokemon hasn’t changed)

Maybe hyrule warriors IS new and interesting but I’m not a big enough musou fan to bet on it, and if I’m wrong and it’s a great game then fantastic. I would love to play a fantastic and fresh musou

I disagree since so much of the fundamentals are set in stone, but again a lot of games I do play don’t innovate, so if you like that stonework don’t stop enjoying it.

This sentence made me laugh.

I see the new age bit wars has made a return.

You guys stay arguing about resolutions and textures while I play games on my giant flat screen CRT. I can see the individual pixels if I lean in close enough. You guys dont know about that life. Half of these new games I can barely read text because they make font so small that my TV can’t display it properly.

I remember in halo 2 that if you had a flatscreen you could see the individual bullets in the assault rifle clip.

It didn’t bother me that much with my CRT at the time that it was just a bar of ammo.

However later the fonts did become unreadable on CRTs…

So yes, I do know the struggle about that life. I just choose to ignore it like other crippling worldwide pandemics that grip modern man.

I’m not about to speculate on a demo that was outdated the moment everyone played it.

However, knockback and game speed have increased dramatically, which should elimate the biggest problem with Brawl(its plodding pace).
The STUPIDEST mechanic ever(tripping) was removed as well.

Completely incorrect. New characters, new moves, new mechanics(Mega Evolution, Pokémon-Amie, streamlined online features).

The basic game doesn’t change much fundamentally(if it ain’t broke), but there’s an ocean of depth to Pokémon’s multi-player aspects that I won’t even scratch upon here.

Speaking of game changing innovation…

Obvious troll is obvious: http://www.lazygamer.net/nintendo-ds/why-pokmon-games-are-all-the-same/

Let me know when we get a Pokemon ARPG or beat’em up sees Pokken okay not what I want ideally, but I’ll take it definitely has potential.

You’d have to be completely ignorant to the metagame to actually believe that Pokemon doesn’t change greatly between iterations.

Hell, even disregarding the meta. Graphical, mechanical, and all kinds of other changes are also made alongside the huge changes new Pokemon bring to the game.

Look, if this guy touts on and on about how games need to change, how they need to evolve, how everyone but nintendo has stopped making games.

Then he is literally never going to change his opinion.

He’s waving thick brushstrokes saying that all these other devs and companies are churning out the same garbage.

BUT SACRED NINTENDO ISN’T

(never mind mario, zelda, pokemon, animal crossing, metroid etc etc)

Like to him Pokemon has evolved and changed, getting more levels to achieve, some new moves that largely do the same thing, the gameplay being the same etc etc.

But whatever, I’m just amused that the guy who goes on about how games need to change, grow, innovate ETC ETC, is fanboying over games that haven’t changed.
