I assumed replaying serves a purpose. The first person to directly recommend it to me said she was replaying it to do everything and etc. I kinda just ran through
^This. Operation Raccoon City could have been BEYOND godlike if it just had RE6’s mechanics, instead of RE6. Leave the hundreds of zombies, hunters, and occasional terrifying Nemesis encounters on the map and that shit seriously would have been multiplayer gold. I really hope that game gets a MUCH more improved sequel down the line, because on paper the concept was awesome. But millions of small problems brought it down as a whole imo. And I’m not entirely sure how they would make a sequel to a game like that without it making no fucking sense whatsoever. It was already based on a fictional “what if” storyline, iirc.
In other news, I played a pretty extensive amount of that P.T. demo this weekend… it took me foreeeeever. I become such a bitch when I play a first-person horror game, lol. Kept having to pause it and then I’d come back to it a few minutes later. Though after an hour or two of stumbling around in the dark and remaining too terrified to move down the hallway, I think I beat it…maybe. Not entirely sure really. You’re supposed to see a cutscene revealing that it’s Norman Reedus and all that junk, but it seems like I can’t even get out of the house. There’s a shit ton of variables in this demo that can occur (or not occur), I’ve even heard that there can be differing endings.
But the weirdest thing (and this was definitely the creepiest part of it all) is what happened to me towards the end. After you start running through the red hallways at high speed, I figured out how to end the loop and when I walked down the hallway it started becoming normal looking again. I went through the doorway that’s normally at the end of the hall and all of a sudden my screen starts glitching out every ten seconds. The glitch gets more and more severe until the screen went black and displayed a message that said “This is a game that is purely fictitious. It cannot harm you in any way.” in dozens of different languages. After a few seconds, the message dissapeared and the demo seemed to restart where it always starts you at the very beginning: on the floor of a dark room where a single door is standing in front of you.
Well, I thought I had beaten the demo or something and it had just restarted itself, but then I noticed something when I walked back out the door and looked to my right. The clock was still at fucking 0:00. And when you start the demo for the first time, it’s stuck at 23:59…one exact minute before midnight.
I was still stuck in the fucking loop.
So now I’m kind of just at a loss. I’m not sure what else I need to do at this point. I’ve gone through the door at the end of the hall at least 20 times since this happened, and the only things that change every now and then are the lights. Sometimes, I go through the hallway and they’re all red. Sometimes, I go through and they’re all green. Those are the only two colors I’ve seen and I have no idea what makes them change, what they mean, or if I can even effect them in any way.
I’m wondering if there are certain conditions that you have to meet in order to even see the ending…another VERY strange thing about my playthrough is that I had never seen anyone talk about the message that I saw when your screen starts to glitch out. Every walkthrough I skimmed over people said the message said things like “I’m headed there now” or “I’ll call you later” in various languages, and that instead of a black screen they saw a yellow or red screen.
So…what exactly did I do in my playthrough that caused me to get a BLACK screen, with the creepy ass message that says: “This game is purely fictitious, it cannot harm you in any way.” ? People all over the internet seem to be scrambling for answers to this kind of shit and there’s just nothing…it’s confusing but insanely interesting at the same time. Have any of you in here who’ve played the demo found a way to beat it yet?
Either way, this trailer is chock full of Silent Hill tidbits…wouldn’t be surprised if someone realized what game it was for before even beating it and seeing the ending reveal. The auto-save indicator symbol at the bottom right of the screen is the damn Halo of The Sun for titty’s sake.
Well, you know. The nerfed, less cool version that they’ve been going with in these games since Homecoming for whatever reason.
But aside from that, the signature “bell ring of doom” that lets you know shit is about to go DOWN happens in the demo, the radio static when monsters are near is there, the creepy way these games feed you a story is present, and most importantly, the use of sound in general is just…brilliant. Psychologically disturbing to the extent that you’re afraid to even look in a different direction sometimes even if it’s just 5 inches to the left. Akira would be proud. This is the most cleverly horrifying use of audio I’ve seen in these games for years.
Still, even as well as the first person aspect works for this demo, I’m not entirely sure which I would prefer in regards to that or 3rd person. That’s definitely gonna be a hard decision for them to make, but I’m sure Kojima will make the right choice in all likelihood. I’d even be ok with seeing a mix of both 1st person AND third person throughout the full game.
When SH4 tried that perspective I didn’t mind it but ultimately I feel SH is a 3rd person game. I wouldn’t mind if certain segments of the game were in the first person but I definitely think it needs to be a 3rd person experience.
If the game can be even half as good as the original triology I’ll be a very happy man.
These guys know more about SH then the guys who work on it and I ultimately agree with them. I hope I can be proven wrong but their point about the jump scares and haunted house aspect is very true.
shit is stated so many times that the trailer will be nothing like the game. Their points on story based on kojimas writing are fair though. I only liked twin perfect when they bagged the fuck out of tom hullet.
I htink this is a great video. The Game Over Thinker has episodic sagas and thats wy hes dressed as different characters. He does different more straight to the point videos too on ScrewAttack.
This video is great!Take a look in the mirror kind of stuff. Sorry if its already been posted.

The Game Over Thinker is one of the few video directors who brings any industry-based insight to the table. Unfortunately, he’s a shitty writer whose level of cheese rivals the level of autism from TGWTG network. Leave the plot and jokes to a Screwattack intern or something.
Soo the investors just want any kind of Nintendo IP on an idevice and they’ll back it eh?
NPD July Numbers
PS4 again is the top selling console for the month. Mario Kart 8 joins NSMBU as the second million seller title for NA for Wii U. 3DS so far has 9 first party titles that passed the 1 mill mark for NA (including Luigi’s Mansion that actually just recently surpassed 3 mill, Next Level actually got a small drawing from Miyamoto for it).
Last of Us Remastered also beat out everything last month. Watch Dogs, CoD, Minecraft, GTA V, and Mario Kart 8 are still going strong.
Most of their points related to comments made by hideo as it concerns horror and his general philiosphy when it comes to game design. The one thing that could hurt this games potential is that hideo isn’t a nerd over the series, meaning that when he’s looking for reference points for the franchise he won’t just be looking at the original team silent games but all the shitty spin-offs that followed too. If he narrows his inspiration to the first 4 games he will be fine…but if he starts looking at anything hullet did then we are fucked.
I completed Fez yesterday and while it was very fun and interesting with some of the greatest video game music I’ve ever heard, cryptic puzzles piss me the fuck off so fuck that game
