you also see people lose their jobs for much less as well.
japanese business is a pretty nuanced beast. failure is almost a precursor to repentance and self sacrifice… see iwata halfing his salary earlier this year. continued failure after this doesn’t usually last long.
a business in japan, even at its most executive, is far more personal than what you see elsewhere. people are almost expected to stay at their place of business for the majority of their lives. continued failures puts the lives of a lot of people on the line in a job sector where pivoting to another company is almost impossible. banks and land lords won’t give you shit if your company doesn’t have the reputation of staying around for the long term and making tons of money. japanese business culture is basically saying that iwata needs to step down and fall on his blade (as it were) to change the direction the company is going.
it doesn’t help that he came from a different company, and didn’t rise through nintendo’s ranks, and he also has not been in the best health. there are a lot of factors that are overlooked when everyone is making money. when you aren’t doing that, those factors surface more easily when everyone has been losing money for the past 3 years.
it is a good sign that he was re-elected last week despite low approval ratings and whilst recovering from surgery, but i think he’s basically 50/50 he’s there in 2015.
as i said right after e3 and everyone was mashing the disagree button: nintendo is going all in with smash brothers. if that shit doesn’t move 1+ mill wiiU units and get a ridiculous attach rate, iwata will probably be forced out. if smash doesn’t hit, nintendo is going to be losing money 4 years straight, considering it has almost no blockbusters with tangible release dates left on the horizon (outside of hyrule warriors). people saying nintendo won e3 didn’t really see that nintendo is literally a smash brothers failure away from turning into something entirely different.
Integral is a strong word for Dan…but his contributions and strides that he made within the company were definitely for the far better. Nintendo has possibly further fucked their future in when they didn’t have too / could have easily avoided it. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was behind some of the indie deals they got with between Renegade Kid and and Yacht Club. They’ll seriously be kicking themselves if they find themselves losing contact with indies because they don’t have someone in place as good as Dan their for them.
Seriously though…it sounds like they just want a Yes Man their instead of someone who actually wants to move the company forward and actually has the balls to say ‘This is dumb Nintendo…and here’s why it is’. It’s obvious that they improved for the better for it and him just saying he was in disagreement over Nintendo’s region locking policy is in no way in the same boat as someone jumping on twitter and saying ‘Oh…those poor people that don’t have internet…guess they won’t be playing Xbox One eh!?’
Define ‘the other day’. Also I don’t get nearly as much ‘free promotional shit’ as my boss does. GS has it’s ups and downs just like any other job for the most part though to be honest I have been trying to look for a job elsewhere for awhile now. I don’t think GS is a terrible company…they’re just in the business of trying to stay afloat and make money just like any other company. Do they make decisions here and there on somethings that may cause an eyebrow to raise? Yeah but some of the better things the company tries to do get swept under, forgotten, or not mentioned. Despite questionable clean copies of the game popping up used later on, They did help foot the bill to get Xenoblade Chronicles and some other games over here. Then supposedly they’re gonna try overhaul how they do their trade in prices on their games in about 2 weeks. (yes I know the source is kotaku, the link is actually to the neogaf post, and yes this is actually rolling out in 2 weeks…we’ll see how it goes.)
I don’t think some of you would last too long on the other side of the counter considering you’re supposed to have good customer service all the time and that includes understanding that other people have different opinions on stuff. This also includes if some customer you’re talking to a customer about a game you enjoy and they blurt out ‘I play real games’ (this actually happened to me like 2 days ago lol).
I can’t say anything on the gutting of new games other than the fact that I understand why they do it. If you’re about to recieve a non shrink wrapped copy of the game and it really bugs you then I’d just tell you to politely ask for on that is (there is a chance the guy behind the counter just grabbed a copy and there may be others that are shrink wrapped) and they don’t either ask if they can call the next closest store to see if they do or just go to a different retail store.

I got the REmake on Gamecube unfinished lol had it years ago almost beat it with Jill but had to sell off my games. Bought it again never got to it. Not even sure if I wanna play it through with Chris since I can’t fuckin stand him
Well to be fair, REmake is anecdotally one of those games people have long been port-begging for. Easy money for Capcpom (seeing how early screenshots seem to indicate they’re just cheaply post-processing the original pre-rendered backgrounds). Makes way more sense than that rumored DmC Ultimate Edition, though I still wouldn’t put it past them to greenlight that too :razzy:

This is why the gaming industry is such a disarray, no developer, to studio can live up to their own hype and the nostalgia that the customers have.
Many fan favorites has aged badly, and the studios only want to invest in AAA titles as that what makes money.
So I’m still in my “new game experience” with DMC4. I beat it on human, and devil hunter so far, about to start son of sparda. Did anybody else have issues getting past the first demon boss at first on stage 20 on bloody palace? That lightning dude beforehand lands a lot of cheap shots on me. Then when I get to fire demon he does that charge move that is a pain in the ass to dodge about 5 times in a row. I do better as Dante running Gilgamesh in Dark Slayer style. Havent been able to best him with either character though
I remember I couldn’t even re-download the DLC characters for UMVC3 that I BOUGHT without having to go to my download history. The entire game had been ethered from the marketplace. Shit’s stupid.
