- he was at least Top 5 in every SF4 iteration
- his keepaway / zoning game is as strong as ever
- he has more valid options to get out of pressure than the average character (unthrowable Teleport to both sides, 3f DP, Backdash…)
- he doesn’t have to rely on s.HK to open up people, he has plenty of other tools (sweep is unpunishable with most of the cast, air fireballs, etc)
- He never had frame advantage after a blocked s.HK and is still safe now
- his damage output is insane and has even been buffed a little with U2 damage
- Palm not an overhead doesn’t really weaken his vortex he still has plenty of options to mix you up.
I think Akuma’s vortex and his gameplay overall, has been hurt with these nerfs. sHK is an irritating piece of sh*t, and it will leave him in a 2 fr disadvantage now and this means a lot. Because now, after a blocked sHK whatever he does we can hit him before or even jump and escape, as his quickest things start up in 3 fr and that means after a blocked sHK we have 5 fr. to do something. Before this buff, we just had to sit there and block and wait for the endless pressure end.
After his throw he will wait even more now which means we can wake up and prepare for the coming demon flip even better. And the elimination of his overhead move is the most serious stab to him, as now we can sit and crouch tech during the pressure, wtihout fear of an overhead to hit us in an unexpacted time.
He will be easier to kill, that’s for sure. But I agree with Vegaman, he was the top tier along with the twins, not Fei. And now all 4 of them got nerfed. We’ll se if he is top tier.
But I feel Evil Ryu and Oni coming. I met so good an Evil Ryu player in AE that I really fear this char now. I also met a great Oni, and seen how good he can be, with surprise. Also Blanka was a hard match up for me (and many Vega players), now he will be even more disgusting.

No, you have 2f to do something. Jumping is bad and Akuma a free AA SRK, he can throw out a DP to punish you trying to punish or simply block. Yes, he can’t try a jap or throw but its fair. s.HK was always risky against the smaller characters. It’s a fair nerf that will not hurt him, he just loses some braindead pressure options which you couldn’t use against the whole cast.
Believe me, there will be new safe jump and safe demon flip timings with the 2f throw nerf. Just the braindead 2x dash timing is gone. Every good player will compensate this easily.
You feared the demon flip palm overhead while crouch teching? I would fear a frame trap with 300+ damage followed by vortex… You could easily block the overhead, its just more convinient to block low but you still have to pay attention if its a demon flip or not. The left, right, safe divekick, throw mixup is still deadly even without the overhead.
Though only slightly buffed, this is the ultimate version of vega i believe.
The cosmic heel being that little bit safer will make alot of difference for the kara throw/cosmic heel game.
because now most characters chrouching that arent gief/hawk/gat wont get hit unless u do around a -3 spaced CH and in 2012 that will be -2 so i cant be thrown/jabbed/dp for free of i guessed the cosmic heel wrong so often
That coupled with a u1 that works a u2 that will be a little better and my sweep damage back and keeping the gawdlike 6 frame c.mk, means good times.
A buff on focus is a nice bonus.
I will seriously try out the new u1, because when it hits its such a beautifull ultra to behold and the laugh at the end is epic.

Well it seems like he is not hurt that bad on the top level, where it matters and where tiers come into play. But on the intermediate, more scrubby level winning will get much harder to for Akuma players. Now that I think of it, it was already hard to win with him in the first place.
Well I just played on PC exclusively since it came out, one day at a time and completely ignored endless. I made a thread here as well with my stats. Couldn’t say I learned a lot though. The majority of members here are right, grinding ranked is kind of braindead

Capcom didn’t add Cosmic heel into U1 because it was prolly to hard for them to pull it off that’s why they didn’t add it in also it would have trolled their statement in the trailer “comboing has never been easier!” I wanted to facepalm at beginning statement of the vid “The demands of our fans have been answered!” so i just laughed.

Yeah I got my Ass handed to me by this guy many times, but blaming the char for that or thinking Eryu will be a threat… You know, a couple of days ago I lost 3 of 4 against ix(i)on_90, arguably the best Dan player on PSN and I would not say that Dan is somehow overpowered.
The fact that they specifically named exact hitbox changes for many characters makes me doubt that there are any unmentioned changes left. Seems to me that the list released is the definite one.

It’s like me having a fully reloaded Revolver with 6 real bullets then someone takes 4 of my bullets away from me and like a month later that person decides to give me a extra blank bullet now making me have 2 real bullets and one blank bullet and some how they expect me to call it a buff??? :nono:
