i’m not entirely sure or confident that that 1 frame will make a difference in hitting opponents where it would be blocked in AE…
Remember in Super it was 7 frame start up
Now it’s an 8 frame start up.
so even though it was buffed I still see it as a nerf, but I’ll give it an honest try and see how it does. If I cant land it autocorrect without it being blocked then I’ll be sticking with U1.
the FA buff though is nice because vega’s kara FA covers a third of the screen
Super: Abel tornado throws you, holds up forward for cross up MK. You ultra, he loses
AE: You ultra, you lose, he’s safe
Yes an 8 frame safe jump is basically useless… however, it is now easier and more viable for you to trip guard opponents who jump in on you
I guarantee you if i put in the effort, i could make a montage of all the ultra 2’s i whiffed that are definitely “HUHH?!?!?” worthy, put it into 2012, and a great deal more of them would connect
I think it’s fair to put it back. I mean, it’s hella unsafe if not spaced really well and it’s not as easy to space as Bison’s slide (which is also FADC-able, unlike Vega’s to make it safe). And if you can’t see Vega’s slide coming a mile away? Learn to block XD.
I personally loved Vega in super for U2, just because it was a big “LolNo” to people being stupid when jumping at you (which unfortunately our current anti-airs don’t solve a lot of. ST works sometimes, so does st.HK, but U2 really was that “jump at me again unsafely, I DARE YOU.” that I loved.)
His crMK buff was definitely the best…and I’ve gotten so fond of the EX Roll change because I’ve been using the combo from the getgo since AE dropped XD I certainly do not complain to a free 421 damage and untechable knockdown if my opponent’s stupid enough to sit on down-back all day.
It was the missing after the AA U1 that bugs me. I hit my friend on the way down from an U1 (Gouken) JUUUUST before he hit the ground and was like " NO NO NO NO" they were like “huh?” until they saw it whiff coming back and were like “LOL” XD.
It doesn’t matter what they do to him tbh, I’ll always still play him. I even go back to vanilla sometimes because despite the glitches, the fucked up hitboxes and all that. All the raw damage and fun was really there. Super was the perfect iteration of this game IMO, maybe 2012 will be somewhere along that…it’s what I’m hoping for anyway.
I’m rambling now and just typing everything that pops into my head sans perversion…I’m going to bed. XD/
i know it’ll make a difference but the degree of difference is what I’m not confident about. I’ll probably end up sticking with the vastly more comfortable U1, but I’ll give U2 a couple shots in every matchup to see how much the 1 frame affects it.
YAY, now I can still use Ultra 1 without worrying about people calling it a gimmick.
Cannot wait to finally actually put use to the U1 bug and practice Cosmic Heel (As Anti air) > BHC.
Also props to the SHC buff. Whenever I use a character, I try to put use to every tool they have and not ignore them. They have their purposes and for me, it’s a great counter against attempted punishes of FBA in the corners.
God, ex roll is amazing. I’m a huge fan of Vega’s crystal flash. just watch team europe vid, i abuse the shit out of it. how can i not? Seriously i’ve never played anyone who could react to EVERY overhead i did, and if they can’t do that, they won’t get out of rolling crystal flash in time
i feel like rolling crystal flash’s benefits, initially, are very muted… mediocre chip, and mediocre positioning (With regard to your proximity to your opponent) but having them block a jumping and basically giving them no choice but to move to the other corner is soooo amazing…
I still haven’t properly integrated just your basic blockstring rolls in my game. I use it in some matchups, but I feel I’m seriously missing out on a tonne of chip because I just don’t remember it’s there. I think, given time, if I go into training mode for a while and get some setups going, they’ll work themselves into my game. I know my pressure strings did. It’s just remembering that I have them.
yeah I’ve slowly started incorperating EX RCF a bit more. I’ve noticed a lot of my rounds ending with me having full meter and rarely ever using it, except to hit confirm into EX FBA or EX ST for the kill. I’ve been so conservative on my meter usage I give up a LOT of potential damage in the long run (noticed after my disagreement with Joz about the practicality of EX RCF)…
plus the fact that i’m not gaining meter when my meter is full, means it’s going to waste.
I’m STILL not quite to the comfort level of using 2 meters on a single combo, but I’ll happily end it with sHK
it doesnt combo, but it does frame trap which is nice but I tend to use
cMKxx EX RCF
But wasting that 2nd bar makes it the most damaging Vega combo in the game. More than 400 dmg. Don’t you think that pays off for losing 2 bars instead of 1?
I still feel like most of these aren’t Buffs i see most of these things to Vega as Capcom:" Here you can have this back that we took away from you…kindaTrollface"
It’s like me having a fully reloaded Revolver with 6 real bullets then someone takes 4 of my bullets away from me and like a month later that person decides to give me a extra blank bullet now making me have 2 real bullets and one blank bullet and some how they expect me to call it a buff??? :nono:
I for one am quite happy, Vega’s been improved and not unimproved. I suspect that it is CH into BHC and not an AA CH as I think it would already have mentioned this clause despite a Japanese to English translation. I also haven’t really seen anyone say their happy with the +1 more on CH? I mean wasn’t most everyone complaining that his CH was terrible in AE compared to SSIV? I think it was a fair ‘nerf’ then, but now they done better and compromised - going midway between both CH versions.
I haven’t even had time to read the whole character database yet to see all the changes (as there are so many) but it seems pretty good. It doesn’t sound like any weak characters were hurt, but rather given sort of near medium/medium/high buffs; with the stronger ones getting hurt a but. I will not sign any ‘Capcom, Vega needs to be stronger!’ petition, because you haven’t played AE2012 and if your still complain after the FOURTH iteration of SFIV then you should just quit, and take up that pedophile Arcana Hearts game.
well Vega (imo) isnt back to the equivalent of his super self. But, because most of the cast is weaker than their super self it evens out. Like i said though, my counter starts back at zero, and I’ll judge as I play
Can some of you quick elaborate why Akuma is considered the new top in 2012? Just Because everyone else got hit harder than him? Is that sHK nerv alone not enough to cry like it was his own CH beeing taken away? And why the hell does daigo use him now?

I am confused, Honda is still there, Sagat got away unharmed, hell even Chun is stronger than before. So why Akuma?
Akuma is top tier almost completely because of his vortex…
same reason I said he was at the top in vanilla
same reason I said he was at the top in Super
same reason I said he was at the top in AE (along with Yun and Yang, and instead of Fei)
if his vortex is still viable then he’s going to be at the top IMO
as for honda, and sagat, I mentioned those 2 right after akuma and sim who I think are both tied for the top spot.
