Let’s not jump the gun. They’re doing location tests, right? This may mean more changes. There’s always the possibility that they don’t say everything.
im not getting sucked in into this argument, im just going to say that the fact that it could be punished on reaction by any character for free, and get into a position of dominance, just like Vega would provided the gamble paid was perfectly balanced risk reward ratio. you are dismising +2-3 frames simply because of reversals? Then why are you even applying pressure ever?
either way, Vega is stuck where he is. just counter pick if its that bad, like I started doing, or move on to what feels like better things. Either way, It makes the game infinitely f-u-n-n-e-r. Joz is right, think about the game a bit more, and apply new strategies. know the limits and try and by pass them, that’s all that can be said at this time.
complaining about these buffs is as futile as trying to find the an actual value to a limit as it approaches infinity on either axis.
lol
You don’t have to argue about anything. I’m just tired of people looking at the Cosmic Heel nerf and acting like it’s useless when the use is still there.
“The perception of Vega NEEDS to change if you guys really want Claw to win tournaments. Find obscure tech, update your philosophies, get out there and play more. Cause that’s the only way to get better - now that we are officially DONE holding out on buffs, it’s time to simply level up.”
Jozhear is still here pushing the Vega forums. Good shit, this line pretty much sums up anything else I have to post besides tech suggestions.
Remember that this is still a loketest version, and is not finalized.
other than that, im bitting my tounge.
can anyone really think of changes from AE’s loctest that didn’t make it into the final game?
Guaranteed 98% of these changes are here to stay.
The only thing I can recall is Deejay’s crumple on EX Sobat. I still think that wouldn’t have been overpowered.
EDIT: Well now that I think about it, if you counter hit someone with a c. mp because they did a poke or something, that would be pretty cheap.
You can hit confirm into an ultra / untechable knockdown if you wanted to anyways, but the counter poke into ~450 damage is pretty insane.
The SHC buff is worthless if it’s still punishable by a taunt and an ultra on block. Still, at least the move took a few steps toward not being a complete piece of shit.
I was comparing Super CH to AE CH. It’s fine though, I was wrong on that point if we’re talking AE to 2012.
Increased s.HK damage isn’t worth much if they don’t fix the hitbox.
1f extra hitstun is okay, but still worse then Super.
Blowback? Who cares if it still is -20 on block and can get jabed?
U1 is just a bugfix, how it should have been since super.
U2 still safe-jumpable by blind people…
I hope these are not the final changes, I feel like these help a little bit, but Super Vega was better.
I remember watching you play the world’s best 2-D fighting game player and thinking,
“if Vega only had I-Frames on EX ST, Joz would whoop Diago’s ass.“
But Vega didn’t, and doesn’t, so you were forced to deal with insane pressure and jump-ins with nothing but block. Whereas, had it been the other way around, Ryu could have easily swatted off Vega’s pressure like an annoyning gnat. Despite that, you’re still here defending Capcom’s character design, and sticking with the whole “we gotta work with what we have thing.” And, I gotta be honest, I have a great deal of respect for you for that.
However, that doesn’t mean that us who want an dependable AA or IF EX ST want easy street. As I said in an earlier post, cr.mp/mk all day and than EX ST any jump-in is a borderline retarded stragety that would fool no one; so what “one option” would we sit back on? I just want a decent reversal to counter divekicks and unsafe jump ins on wake-up(at the cost of an EX bar which are vital to Claw’s survival) don’t really get how that makes me the guy who just wants to over power my character and says fuck everyone else.
Like I said before Joz you’re one of the best Claws I’ve seen, but I’ve also seeing you fall victim to the same type of shit I do: pressure, jump-ins etc. EX ST is not the lazy, scrubby suggestion you try to make it out to be, because if it is thdn so is Chuns EX SBK, or Bisons EX HS, because they’re both I frame moves that a great poke/walkspeed character has. Im not trying to come at you aggresively or argue here, but i gotta say what i gotta say.
And I get it, dwelling over some shit we won’t have is stupid, but what can I say I’m human. But the vibe you give off is something we need here, basically lets get down to the nitty gritty and grind with our character, fuck what he doesnt have. Cool, I respect that, and will try to put that attitude first.
BTW, you can say my name when shit is directed at me. Haha, I’ve noticed a couple of your posts seem to be directed at me, without name dropping. I wont trip because I know your criticism doesnt come from spite or trying to look cool. I’ve seen you play, I know you know what the hell youre talking about , so just say,
” rabbi, youre an idiot and this is why”. Lol as long as there is substance in it I’ll never take it personally. Aight, I’ve said my piece, I’m out.
lol cool rabbi
respect! name of the game.
Claw will never win any big tournaments and it doesn’t have to do with perception, philosophies or the lack of playtime, it’s all about the lack of options. We all know Vega can hang with / beat almost the whole cast at midrange but he is free to closeup pressure. Yeah, if you could play perfectly for 4 rounds and never let them close or get the knockdown we can win, but nobody can play perfectly for 4 rounds. Sooner or later they will come close /get the knockdown and the gamble begins, which is 33/66 at best and even worse if they have their OS down. You WILL get opened up, you can not guess right every time.
I don’t care about the cries for an AA, Vega has enough situational AAs to counter everything with the right spacing, he doesn’t need I-Frames for that, but he needs it to have at least one other option countering pressure just making people THINK before pressing buttons up close, otherwise he will never be anything other than okay-ish in tier and he won’t win any big tournaments.
^Players win tournaments, not characters. You could put up the same argument for Sim, but it’s pretty much the same case with his defensive options. At the very least, Vega has a reversal option to combat grabs/overheads/dive kick mix-ups and an ultra that acts as the reversal he lacks, yet Sim has none of these and F Champ (and others, I’m sure) have won/placed well in majors with Sim. Jozhear pretty much hit the nail on the head, as they say.
You really comparing Vega to Sim? Sim has godlike AAs and is a godlike zoner. Even if they come close which is A LOT harder then coming close to Vega. His whole gameplan is to stay away and keep em at almost full screen. Vega won’t deal any damage there… He HAD a 3 frame short (and in AE no Sim won anything) and can teleport easily out of cross ups.
And no, player alone don’t win tournaments, the combination of player and character does. Daigo, Jwong and Co won’t win with Dan, Hakan or whatever, and they don’t even try because they know there chances would drop drastically because of the characters options.
At the end of the day, as long as people know that they can choose a character with what they want instead of complain about what their current main doesn’t have/why he will never win, then I’m happy with it. It would be nice to see Vega forums go pure discussion.
is anyone else experiencing deja vu?
How can you even begin to compare sim to vega? At least sim can do what he does best. Even with the damage nerfs he recieved in AE he still had his tools.
Players win tournies and not the character? Thats absolutely right if the game was perfectly balanced. You can develop tricks and strategies to deal with areas of weakness like lack of AA but at the end of the day its still a weakness. Being skilled will take you so far but if lack the tools then you lack the tools.
Meanwhile…
Because clearly ryu needs better AA.
You’re both pulling me in your direction…
With no disrespect toward anyone, comparing Vega to Sim is apples and oranges, it cant be done. Full-screen normals, great AA,teleport AND a protectile. Clearly one is more equipped than the other when it comes to dealing with pressure/jump-ins, no?
However, now that the changes are out we should move forward, concentrate on what we have and kill off all the “what-ifs”, because that will lead to discouragment and take a heavy toll on your game.
I’ve thought about it… would I rather want a top tier, great at everything scrub loving band-wagon Vega than the one *we have now? Not in a million years. We have a small, dedicated community of Claw players that have an uphill battle in this game, and we know it. Kinda adds to the appeal. No one doubts that a Vega player works his ass off when he wins, same cant be said for a lot of characters.
*We
The loyal group of Claw mainers, that in some cases (like me) have stuck with him for years. From SFII to the Alpha series and now…this
the biggest buffs will be from yun’s nerfs but as far as our character so far I’m not really happy with it at all.
