How do I beat Honda’s spammable overly-safe head butts. Shit was shenanigans on-line.

i just pre-empt and anticipate them…punish with flip kicks x 2. :wonder:

from there, i start mild wall dive shenanigans if there’s space in the middle, so i can bounce off of the opposing side and attempt to smack him on the back when he stands up…unsafe, sure, but it’s a frustrating fight.

there are TONS of invincibility frames on the flip kick. To give you an example of how good vega’s flip kick is, it beats out ryus dp in vanilla ST. not too sure about HD remix, but it should be the same although i did get stuffed once. however, i’ve beaten out hawk, cammy,feis and sagats dp in hd remix.

its one of the best command anti airs in the game. the only other moves that has more invincibility than the flip kick is rogs buffalo headbutt, ken and akumas dp and maybe guiles flash kick and thats a huge maybe.

Ever since ST, vega’s flip kick went downhill and gets progressively worse in each game.

now moving on, i think gief vs vega has gotten much harder since ST. i think gief gets a free spd after a claw dive.

You realize you can combo off of wall dive, right? Sure, it’s not easy, but it works. Never once been SPD’d after wall dive. Not once.

Pretty sure no SPD after claw dive, played a bunch last night vs Gief. The new c.fierce to stop wall dives is annoying, but can be crossed up. Little more mind games now, and I don’t think any other part of that match has changed. Still pretty easy W for Vega.

again, it’s probably how late or early you did the flip kicks.

HD double flip kicks give vega another good reason for being defensive. But he can no doubt rsh down quite well.

LATER EDIT: I must have missed the memo on Vega’s Flip Kick - the few times I tried it, I traded or got stuffed - I really don’t trust that damned move.

I like the new claw. Feels just like the old one with a nice fake. Loss of knockdown is a shame, but it could have been far worse, they could have killed him! Very shocked to see you can still get super meter of back flips.

Indeed, it just takes more back flips.

again, it’s how late you do it, just like any invincible DP move…it has enough initial invincibility frames to go by…

…just got to get that late timing down. (think late-as-fuck and deep tiger uppercut).

Is it just me or does Sky High Claw aim higher now. (HP) was always the lowest, but I have whiffed over so much w/ it now.

I need a rundown of the Dictator Matchup, I have always found this matchup to be really tough for me, but I very much admit my Claw is extremely scrubby.

What can I do vs. Scizzors kick/Psycho crusher in this matchup? How can I reliably keep him locked down? I need a full run down =(

well for starters…Dic doesn’t have a reversal outside of super (not a good one anyway). I hear is Devil reverse got a few more frames of invulnerability on it but I don’t know how much it helps him. Given this…for oki…rolling and diving should be used here. You should be more defensive in this match until you get a knock down. A.K.A. always have a charge for flip kick. You can flip kick his psycho crusher on reaction most of time. As for his scissor kicks…you can flip kick them but I personally can’t to that on reaction. The only other problem now is devil reverse/head stomp. What I do to avoid this is backflip. It’s hard to do it on reaction to the lk version but it works sometimes. For a few miscellaneous notes…IIRC, Dic’s st. RH owns slide for free most of the time, and don’t get wall dive happy b/c he can easily beat it with just about any of his jump moves. I realize I’m probably wrong a few things so anybody feel free to correct me.

I’ll treat it like a Jab SRK and see how it works… What is the breakdown over buttons?

Like with SRK, Jab is the safe one…Same thing w/ Flip Kick?

No, always HK for the lengthiest invincibility times unless you’re trying a reversal.

Honestly, the timing is trivial. It shouldn’t be any challenge whatsoever to nail every aerial with the flip kick if you’re charged up. What’s probably happening is that you’re playing laggy matches online where you have to preempt the jump-in so you do it too early and get stuffed during its recovery phase by the jump-in.

Im not going to be able to Flip Kick Ppsycho crusher on reaction all the time and Im pretty sure at certain ranges it would be impossible, trying to guess it is probably bad too because than he can whiff punish you, so you basically have to respect those two moves. You can’t really lock him down either because c.strong gets devoured most of the time by Scizzors and c.jab doesn’t do enough damage to be worth using regularly to stop him from using it, so at least in my experience it’s no no to try and lock him down either. Jumping up to beat Scizzors kicks at certain ranges is a no no too because if he happens to do a slow PS or a regular timed any PS you can get nailed on the way down into knockdown into now he runs away with an even bigger chip on his shoulder.

Im aware this matchup is against claw but there’s gotta be something more feasible than challenging yourself to a reaction contest to stop some of his basic tools.

Lets see…vega vs. Blanka…uhhh don’t wall dive if he’s not moving, for that matter, don’t even think about jumping…you WILL get AA ball rolled or get electrocuted…I personally try to stay about a full c.mp’s distance away from him and turtle. If he horizontal ball rolls at you, if you’re psychic or something you can flip kick him. Otherwise you just block and retaliate with cr. mp or move like half a step forward and st. Fierce. To do the standing fierce, you might want to let go of block the second you block the roll to prevent you from doing a roll when you move that half a step. You can punish his little hop with cr. RH. If he uses electricity and you are about a c.mp distance away, you can cr. RH it without harm coming to you…any closer and you’ll probably trade in blanka’s favor b/c it takes so long for the electricity animation to drop you on the floor. Anyway, the main thing about this fight is that you really can’t rush a decent Blanka down. Just be patient and own him everytime he jumps at you. It’s best if you hit him early on and have the life advantage that you just run away and make him come to you. As always, this is just the way I fight this fight. If there’s anything people need to add, feel free.

Oh and Pancho…it’s not so much a reaction fest but he owns you on the ground. If he screws up a psycho crusher…go for the knock down. This is where claw’s wall dive not knocking down anymore hurts him. But yeah I understand what you mean but this ST…there’s not always a way out/around of stuff. There’s no real guaranteed way of locking him down.
