Vega causes desync online

^^^
Probably yes and surely not.

It has happened to me a lot and lots of my losses (and wins) are because of that. Mostly with Vega, but I’m pretty sure I’ve suffered desynchs with Cammy too.

Hopefully they’ll fix this and multiple other problems in this game. I’d think Sirlin knows all too well how the ST community is and how many version we’ve went through…

I don’t really know how the legalities and logistics would work out, but is Capcom allowed to patch this without Backbone’s involvement? As in, does the publisher’s (and owner of the original version, brand and IP) have exclusive/full rights to the finished product?

I would always think that my opponent was giving me a freebie. Sometimes I’ve been in a room with just one other person and after a few games they’d just go limp on me. So I figured they had to go and this would be our last match. But then they start another one some I’m like, “what was that all about?”.

Was your opponent Vega?

That’s what you get for trying to be different and not pick his short color:rofl:

About this whole desynching thing it happens once in a while I always thought when the opponent stands still they were going back to the dashboard because after an opponent stands still I always get a disconnect:rofl:

I don’t know is damdai is right or not but vega is one of my mains so I’ll start using him more and pay attention now.

Not a desync issue? but the majority of matches that fail to load have involved someone selecting Claw

No, I meant Cammy with my opponent not being Vega, but I’m not sure because I use Vega a lot and I thought desynchs were a widespread issue. I’ll keep an eye to see if I get desynchs without Vega.

this happened to me once, about 2 days ago, was in a tourney, Ryu vs Ryu, 2nd round my oppenet stop attacking and i finished him, then i appeared at the tournament bracket. It was set 3/5.

Is it just me or did that sound REALLY BAD? :wgrin:

this happened to me quite a few times. especially when i was playing against a vega player in the battle fantasia tourney

I found a decent claw player the other day and so we added each other on friends list to just go back and forth. We disconnected every other match, after he just stopped moving in matches. He’d rejoin and same thing, then he hosted and same problem.

Have him switch characters and see if it happens.

its because the Computer doesnt like Vega’s shinanigans. :arazz:

vega plus the random lag is too broken. i usually grimace when having to face a vega.

Now that I think of this, this is completely true.

…yeah Vega has connection problems now, I saw a LOT of it today.

And when I’m online I can’t pick his Start Color.

I’ve had the desync thing (we both win! w00t!) happen with other characters too.

I don’t get it…How could this game be coded so that the game fails online when vega is involved?

I’ve had some vega games and like 2 THIRDS of the time this happens.

Vega is my most picked character and I haven’t noticed any issues either against or with Vega more then any other character. The only game I had desync tonight was my guile vs. t. hawk. I flash kicked him and saw him take the hit and damage then it rolled back to me getting 360’d and his health went back up. That is the kinda thing you guys are claiming to experience right?

Just for the record everyone complaining about some mysterious Vega glitch does know what the terms ping and lag spike mean and that lag spikes are not unheard of in online games right? Also if you are playing through a wifi adapter in the back of your xbox I’m going to have to assume any lag problems you are facing are your own doing. Right now go unplug that and run a cord into your box, go ahead and throw the wifi adapter away because milliseconds matter.

Now here is my theory. Vega one of the best characters and a lot of people pick him, lag is very common on XBL because many people enter games with crappy connections, connecting over wifi, live across the country, don’t know/care about ping when entering games. So Vega is a very fast character, if someone is playing Vega and it lags for a second you are going to know it. Ryu maybe a 1/4 second late on a fireball because of lag = vega teleporting 1/2 the screen. So lag is more easily noticed then on most characters. I have a descent % of people disconnect on me when I’m Vega, of course 99% of the time its about 2 hits away from death on round 3 when I’m up 2 rounds to nothing on ranked, this has only happened once on player matches ever and under the same circumstances, anyone experiencing this is most likely a player diconnecting. I have experienced people stopping moving 2/3 of the way through a round for no reason then moving normally next round, it happened 3 times tonight, all were in player matches none were with vega 2/3 were different games vs. the same person (this points to lag on their side in my book). It’s possible the “lag smoothing” algorithm can’t handle vega as well as other characters but I don’t think there is any desync problem specific to him that has to do with extra lag.

If you are serious about testing for desync problems specific to vega I think step #1 is turning off lag smoothing in the options, step #2 involves another tester with ping no greater then 25, and step #3 involves a graph and a lot a lot a lot of street fighter matches with and without vega.

Until the final results are in let’s not jump to conclusions.**

Edit- * I’d also like to note that about 75% of my ranked games are with Vega and that I never join ranked games with over 50 ping, as a result I have had maybe 2 games out of 100ish have lag that resulted in desync.
