Vega causes desync online

There appears to be a bug with Vega that causes consistent desyncs online.

awesome thanks for the info

Can you replicate it? If you can it would be good to know…

I actually noticed I kept DCing when I was playing against this vega player a few days ago. I thought it was just bad luck.

Um…no proof? Not even examples? I’ve fought plenty of vegas from all the way over here in limeyland and no problems.

Hahah, that post is so uselessly devoid of helpful information. If it was anyone less respectable than damdai I’d prolly be trollin’. I don’t doubt that dude is preparing a bug report and playing theory-code in his head right now.

You know, almost every game I ever play against Vega desyncs right around the very last hit. There is probably some evidence in Keit’s video replays. I know that in one of his matches where I played Dee Jay vs Vega, it lagged a bit, and it desynced like crazy at the very end, like what is actually displayed in the video is not what happened on my end. I wish I had some good empirical evidence, but damdai is definitely onto something, cos almost every strange phenomenon I’ve ever seen online was during a Vega match.

As a Vega player, and only a Vega player, I can tell you I’ve never had a match desync or d/c.

I played Sirlin himself and had 5 desyncs in a row when he tried to use Vega. After he changed the desyncs stopped. I have only ever desynced against Vega. I don’t know if it’s related to him or not, but it does happen and this is the only common factor among all of them. I don’t know how to prove or replicate it. Just play as or against Vega and there is a chance it will desync. After a desync, 1 or both fighters will be disconnected.

Sirlin theorized it was possibly related to Vega’s claw, as that is something that separates him from every other character from a software perspective. It is an additional object that is separate from his body that has to be accounted for on both ends. Maybe it only desyncs when his claw falls off or something.

vega is one of my mains and over the hundreds of matches ive desync’d maybe 2 or 3 times.

Given the play style of the majority of players on xbox live, you might not even notice when your opponent desyncs as they will appear to jump and attack randomly, like they usually do. zing!

I’ve had a lot of Vega-related desync problems, but I’ve never had it happen with his claw getting knocked off. There are two times when I see it happen:

  1. Vega does a lot of quick moves, like repeated C.Strongs.

  2. (Way more frequent occurence), at the very end of a match, usually at the last hit. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve already had this situation happen to me:

last round, both characters at low life, Vega jumps at me with an attack that I block. Vega player stops moving - I’ve even had a few Vega players pronounce ‘Good games’, and I wasn’t dead yet. It must have looked that way on his end, though, cos his Vega would stop moving and I would just land the last punch to kill his Vega. The funny thing about this is, the Vega player would never even realize this happened. I wonder if sometimes, in this situation, the opposite happens?

I think damdai is onto something. Maybe it IS claw-related, but in a way that’s more subtle, like Vega guarding against attacks.

PSN: #1 hasn’t happened to me, but I’ve seen #2 happen against Claw players. They’ll just stop moving close to the end of the round. Had it happen once in the middle of a round too, Claw stopped moving, and then like 10 secs later, he was under control again. Haven’t seen this happen to any other character, and I don’t know if the Claw player on the other end even knows this is happening. It doesn’t happen super frequently, but it’s often enough. Never been disconnected cuz of that though.

Cosign x7 on what this man said, I doubt Vega is too fast for this game’s Netcode. :looney:

I can semi vouch for this as well. All though claw isn’t my main, a majority of my desyncs have been against claw. My friend plays claw as his main and he’s telling me that close to half of his loses are from desync’s.

hmm interesting theory with the loose claw. its possible that the netcode somewhere along the line, loses track of where its positioned, on the floor, on both ends, and where it comes loose or gets picked up. kinda makes sense.

vega is now top tier!!! fucking broken

LITERALLY

=D

I’ve been disconnected a fair number of times when I pick Vega also. Though to be fair, I’ve gotten disconnected when picking other people too. But Vega does seem a bit more frequent to me. One thing I noticed is that I pick Vega using the start button to get his white outfit. I think someone else also had a theory that picking a character using the start button caused more frequent disconnects. FWIW…

I’ve seen vega players stop moving too, but usually it’s because they’re reaching to unplug an ethernet cable. :S

It can be hard to tell on PSN if the netplay is just acting up or if a player is going wild or giving up

BAN HIM!!

but seriously wow thats so bizarre but thinking back, the few disconnections I’ve had have indeed been against Vega but this wasn’t during fight this was before the announcer even says round1.

i havent desync and yesterday played a bunch of matches with Vega, but something weird is that if a use a punch and inmediately do :d: :u: :k:, everytime i get this move :d: :u: :p:, does it happen to everyone?
