No, that’s not what we are talking about, read the thread.
OK half the people seem to be complaining that Claw randomly disconnects and some seem to have the problem where it seems there opponent disconnects and on the other side the same problem happens. I can say in Player matches I have experienced the 2nd problem with a variety of characters but never in ranked matches. Is it possible when new people join a room with microphones on it could cause connection problems or are people having these problems in ranked also. I am asking because as I said I play lots of Claw and I have seen both these problems with a variety of characters but very infrequently, I just don’t see where all this Claw stuff is coming from, it seems like I would experience it a lot since I have probably logged over 300 Claw games.
Also I got a lot of neg saying, “NO YOUR WRONG” but until I see proof positive I still think people are jumping to conclusions since most of the stories in this thread are anecdotal evidence at best. Also incase someone was talking about me being wrong about the wifi thing I can assume you 100% that wifi adds latency when compared to wired.
This has never happend to me out of tons of matches where i picked vega or opponent did. Though i never join rooms that have ping over 100…
Does this happen on both ps3 and xbox360? I play on 360 and never had this error occur.
I play 95% claw mostly… I have been getting some lag … way too laggy if i put network smoothing on low… I just thought it was a PsN thing… i’ll try other characters to see if it’s the same.
im on the xbox.
ok so last night i played around 30 or so player matches with just vega, i had only 2 desyncs, 1 vs a guile and another vs a ryu. the ping for the most part was 78 and when i hosted i had a friend in the same city play me a good 10 matches and we didnt desync at all.
there was also a guy in the room (EDMasterB…edma??) who was sick with a bunch of chars as well as vega and he didnt desync on any of his matches. maybe this problem may be ping related?
The only thing about Vega that makes me think he could cause more desyncs than anybody else is that he can lose his claw and pick it back up again, so maybe there’s a bug with that. No other character has a similar thing.
Vega players, have you noticed whether losing your claw has an affect on desyncs or not?
^ It’s more that, if I understand correctly, programming-wise it is considered a separate entity from he himself that just happens to be linked to him most of the time.
Between the HSF2AE ports’ walldive motion error, then bottom-tier status in SF4, and now this, Vega players have recently been having a pretty rough time of it!
Has anyone put up a post about this on Unity yet?
I bet I’d hate you if I met you irl.
Virtually none of the already-found bugs would seriously impact or affect offline play anyway, and the online ones are mostly just annoyances, inconveniences, time-burners… but maaan this glitch is getting to me! It means there’s hardly any practicing with and/or against Vega online for the majority of people. I would not complain about any other bug in the entire game if they fix just that.
Is it mostly a PSN thing? I haven’t played the XBL, so I don’t know, but I get disconnected once every 5 or 6 battles, and I’m Vega 90% percent of the time. The other few times I used other chars such as Blanka, Sim, Boxer, I had no issues.
To be honest, I think it just sort of picks up on how many latent problems your internet already has and then amplifies them a billion times. I don’t think that makes much sense technically, but it sort of seems to be that way right now. People who apparently already have iffier connections suffer from the Vega glitch a hell of a lot more than people whose connections are otherwise great. I get the Vega glitch about 90% of the time, because my connection is a big soggy flop. Some guys, on the other hand, have never seen it happen.
Makes me think it’s more of a limitation of the netcode as it is right now, rather than an actual, blatant oversight or a specific trigger error. This is supported by how random it can be about when during your match that the desynch actually happens.
The guy who joked about Vega being too fast and breaking the game, he was only kidding and it wouldn’t be just like that, but it may actually be somewhere along those lines.
Like let’s say… Vega and his claw (their movements and positions) are being tracked as two separate entities, flying all over the screen, attacking, whatever. Suddenly there’s a rollback while you’re flying by and all of a sudden your Vega is over here and the game’s saying his claw should be over there… but the entities are supposed to be connected! So the game’s like “what’s going on?” The the other guy’s instance of the game is like “I dunno, what do you mea… whoa. What IS going on?!” That’s a desync right there. The game decides to just move on with things rather than restart that particular session to “repair” it, so to you you’re just getting booted out.
These are all just best-guesses. I’m no software engineer, haha.
Seems like the best explanation so far if there is indeed an issue because I have yet to experience anything that would point to a problem specific to Vega though I have experienced every problem in this thread at some point spread out over the entire cast and chalked them up to connection problems or lag and I rarely join games over 50 ping except maybe a tournament.
