I’d argue that viper takes more skill than those characters you listed at the highest level. Random viper crap hasn’t worked for at least 3 years now and you have to actually play footsies and have a smart offense with her suboptimal toolset.
Which character takes most skill is a dumb subject anyway
Watched Shadowloo Showdown and Momochi plays Yun matchup perfectly. Not only at this tournament but at other tournaments in the past Momochi is a thorn in Kazunoko his side, he shut him down completely.
Hope this is the year of Momochi, seems to finally have found his groove, or have gotten it back.
Also, what is this “secret character” that Sakonoko has that everyone talks about, one of his oldies, def not E.Ryu, or Elena, also don’t think it’s Ibuki.
Viper takes no skill, that’s why nobody plays her.
Execution isn’t skill. Skill is using a character that has a dive kick and ambiguous crossups. Hard hitting combos that require, execution. Vortex, and 1 frame links that require, execution. Ridiculous damage and combo heavy which requires… Execution?
It was never gone. Cody is an epic time waster. I wonder if he could do a run with Ibuki, his reason in Super was she wasn’t tournament viable.
In the past Sako said that he thinks Evil Ryu beats Fei Long, and this was AE 2012. Evil Ryu is better now and I’ve seen many Fei players say that Fei is a worse off(although I guess that can be subjective). Sako also used Evil Ryu to beat Fuudo in Topanga A League and Capcom Cup in 2013. He did play Gackt last year at EVO when he first lost with Elena and then went 1-1 with his Evil Ryu. Not sure if it mattered but Daigo’s Evil Ryu also defeated Fuudo and Gackt fairly easy(in terms of W-L margin) at Topanga A League and CPT Asia from just last year. So maybe that also played into his decision to stick with Evil Ryu for this match up.
Sako’s Elena took out Fuudo’s Fei in the last Topanga A league 3-0. It seems to be a fairly good match-up for her. Maybe he was thinking back to the EVO matches with Gackt and that Gackt plays a much more aggressive Fei than Fuudo. I can see why he would stick with Evil Ryu in that case but I was a bit disappointed he didn’t switch after he lost the first two matches so convincingly.
