Yesterday, BJ used crouch tech+cr.hp OS to beat Ibuki’s overhead while still being able to tech throw attempts. Very good OS against Ibuki’s overhead. Basically any character that has a crouching move that hits upwards like Ryu’s cr.hp, Rufus cr.mp can be used in addition to the crouch tech. Its weakness is grounded frame traps or meaties after reset or knockdowns, but White Gun couldn’t adapt. Lol, I was so worried that BJ almost lost and I didn’t tell him about that OS when I played him in Kelvin’s house a couple of days before WCW. Good thing Velociraptor was there because he’s known to crouch tech with cr.mk with Gouken.
So apparently everyone at this tourney is free to Rolento mashing the fuck out of backflip. I swear, I see online players counter this shit better than these players so far.
in think people havent put in enough work to know the match because he’s low tier. they havent bothered to figure out why exactly he’s low tier, or what makes his defense such a liability
rolento gets away with so much murder if you arent familiar with his options
that being said back flipping out of established pressure is semi legit if you arent cornered, and people are going for their usual everyman frame tap/throw mix ups.
Haha no doubt is Nemo playing godlike, and is certainly the best Rolento player in the world atm. However, I feel that many people will jump on the “nevermind Rolento is top tier” bandwagon since he is doing well with him, without realizing that nobody was really punishing anything he was doing.
Yup. Issue is that you’re still crouch teching with a 5F (or in Cody’s case, 7F) normal so you’re pretty open to counterhits. Crouch teching with unconventional buttons is an underutilized option for some players and thus also one players struggle to adapt against. Everyone expects crLK. Nobody expects crouch tech HP.
People need to go into the lab and actually explore how Cody’s offense works though. It’s kind of jarring when you see the stuff BJ gets away with that is unsafe and risky because the opponent doesn’t really explore Cody’s options in most situations outside of defensive options. I feel like almost no one goes “Well, I keep getting blown up by Cody’s frame traps and Zonk, I should figure out how they work/how to fight them” instead just shrug their shoulders and play another match. You get blown up enough by Cammy’s dive kicks you try to figure it out. You get blown up by Sakura’s LK Tatsu and her post EX tatsu setups you try and figure it out. Seems like unless you’re top tier people wont invest the time to figure out the MU. See: Hakan or the Dakou Deejay OCV or Blanka doing gimmicks and almost winning in that stream a few days ago. Or the fact people are only NOW figuring out how Dudley works.
I didn’t see one player stop the rolls on reaction. I kick lariat or EX GH through that shit and FilipinoMan can’t do a single EX Soul Spiral to wreck it? that’s matchup inexpericence, nerves are something, but not even attempting to do something that works on reaction to a tool that is fucking you over is matchup inexperience.
Nemo did do great, though, nothing to take away from him. I didn’t see the crazy stuff, though, it looked like his reads, punishes and combos were on point but his pressure had all the standard things.
I do deny this. People are there mainly to watch Nemo (and I totaly understand that), he’s the foreigner to kill. But 90% of marvel matches are boring as hell… when you don’t see Vergil 100 times a week end you see doom’s infinite 100 times a week end ; when it’s not doom you see Magneto loop’s again and again ; if it’s not them you’ll see Zero doin’ zoop zoop stuff or Morrigan’s bullet hell.
Mahvel used to be fun to watch but nowadays it’s really really boring. Guys, remember the evo top16 ? how boring this was, you can’t deny this. If it wasn’t because of mister justin wong, the top16 would be even more boring than kof13 this year (yeah, kof13 is boring too nowadays).
So yeah, Usf4 isn’t exactly an incredibly entertaining game to watch but sadly it’s at least somewhat interesting because of the character variety.
