A local player named Daimon almost beat Daigo with Dhalsim. I don’t think Sim is his main though and he used him as a counter pick instead. He almost did it though, he was up a game and was close to closing out the 2nd but a his b+HK got blown up by a dive kick which lead to a extended FADC combo which did nearly half life to Dhalsim.
Daigo didn’t seem to know what to do after Sim did his Ultra after a throw tech. He tried EX SRK a few times but it will run out of invincibility and you’ll get hit by the Ultra unless you’re right next to Sim. He had Ultra 2 and didn’t use it. I’m not sure if it would work either with that amount of space. I normally just jump and dive kick so their regular grounded anti-air won’t work or use HK tatsu if their is enough space.
Daigo seemed oddly unfamiliar with the Sim matchup. Some silly stuff
Daigo ending combos in mp srk and not lp or sweep vs. sim confuses me, he gave up a lot of momentum for no reason.
Daigo never uses Tatsu > sweep regardless of his opponents character. I’ve never seen him do it and he’s played plenty of characters that Evil Ryu can use it against. He doesn’t seem interested in using jumping mix ups and would rather just get in his opponents face instead. Practically no different than his Ryu when he ended combos in SRK or tatsu.
BTW, I just tested U2 against Yoga inferno in the corner. I stood an entire block away(as in a whole black square) in the training room and mashed Ultra when Sim’s Ultra activated and it hit every time. Daigo had his U2 stocked in a few of those situations when Daimon used Ultra in the corner. He just honestly didn’t know(or was somehow unaware he didn’t have Ultra) and I’m surprised he didn’t. I wasn’t sure either but I kind of expected more from Daigo lol.
I think Daigo prefers the momentum + higher damage putting the opponent on tilt mentally. But he does do a lot of Evil Ryu stuff just like Ryu instead of truely using the strengthes of evil ryu.
The damage difference is really small and a couple of times he did mp srk into dash buttons and got hit by u1 and lost all his momentum.
I think it’s just a suboptimal decision and his Evil Ryu will keep looking kind of suspect until he reigns in his decision making. He obviously has the execution to hit his stuff, he should just emulate Sako though.
Nice to see Xian starting to implement proper DP FADC punishes!
Jian Hua confirmed different breed of stream monster.
Blanka Gimmicks 2 stronk.
I like how that blanka did wakeup u2 when the aa version no longer hits grounded.
Why do blanka players have brain damage?
The character uses himself as a weapon. He literally throws himself at people. What do you expect?

You tell me.

Too much Netrunner, clearly:

rockpon is really good, that sequence in the comeback vs. Xian in the last round showed a lot of calculated good decisions.
Daigo said the player he fear playing against the most of YNC Mochi, the #1 Dhalsim player in arcades.
I think he has a lot of issues figuring out this match up.
end combo in lp dp or sweep, sim basically loses for hitting him once
That was a massacre. Daigo has beaten Gamerbee before, but when he did it with Ryu he always looked like he was fighting a up hill battle and made some crazy reads while he was at it. His Evil Ryu absolutely obliterated Gamerbee’s Adon this time around.
Daigo vs Gamerbee at Dreamhack with Ryu wasn’t close either.
