How do you know it’s them…and not you? Maybe they experience lag just with you and the rest of their matches are fine.
Honestly i just select green bars only, can’t remember the last time i played on a yellow bar, be it on PC or Xbox.
Ingame i never had any freezes whatsoever, neither on my desktop or laptop, no idea if specs have anything to do with it though.
Have you tried playing against someone who doesn’t get these freezes, ever, and witnessed the same thing happening?
If anyone wants to refute my original post then please do so we can keep everyone updated with the common consensus. Please do not just click disagree like a bitch. You know who you are.
@Belegorm Honestly, the bars reflect delay more than lag and lag spikes. If I play a yellow bar, I know I’m about to play a sluggish match. And it’ll require me to put more focus in my execution.
I don’t think this is true, often I find myself playing people from the UK (where I live) and surrounding countries such as netherlands, france, germany and sometimes it can be on 1 bar and still not feel like I’m playing underwater. Half the time I think the bars are a bunch of crap as I have played many games with full bars against other english players and it’s had major lag issues.
Well I live in US so it can be a region thing. More than likely it is. Then tie in the games netcode of course. I wouldn’t dare play anyone overseas right now (I’m in the East Coast, have heard people in the West can play others overseas)
@Marcus32X sometimes its Steam …actually alot of the time its is Steam…
I just don’t feel like anything got fixed. Ranked is still a fucking mess with lagspikes everywhere sometimes so frequent that you want to throw your stick against the fucking wall.
The version is still shit for me and a lot of other people with the exception being private lobbies where the lag settles after 2 minutes and you can play games like you used to on GFWL-Ranked.
Even there, there’s some people that are impossible to play against for some fucking reason.
I just don’t like the notion of this thread that USFIV on Steam is fixed when in fact they didn’t do shit with the game and it’s just as bad as it was when it was released.
And I also originally didn’t feel like posting this at all so I felt a quick “disagree” should be enough.
I mean for people like myself who find ranked kind of really dumb in the first place (best of 1 gimmick to win it), just playing on endless mode makes it seem way better. And did anyone ever take ranked mode seriously in the first place?
I just like it to be able to fight a wide array of characters and skill levels in a short amount of time. I don’t give a shit about the points I just want to hone my ability to quickly adapt to different playstyles and it infuriates me when the connection is shit.
I don’t know if I’m the only one here, but I also expect the gamemodes of my product to be in a working state.
I agree with your points, except that isn’t the optimal playstyle for a best of 1 where nothing’s on the line (in ranked) considerably different from best of 3’s, extended sets, or normal casual play? For example as Balrog erratically randomly works several times better when your opponent only has 2 rounds to figure it out.
Problem with endless is that you have to wait and most of the times host kicks you due to your connection, player points or nationality. Or they may leave the lobby after 1 game if you dont satisfy their needs. By that time I could have played 10 ranked matches.Things are better during weekends though.
Since lag spikes dont appear on winxp on ranked, i’ll play there
i dont know if it’s a placebo, but i have been only connecting to players where their ping indicator resolves first. So far, most of my matches have been smooth
You could do this by just creating an endless lobby and kicking people after you play. That way if you actually find enjoyment in playing a particular person you can do sets or if you lose you can have a chance at a runback
We’ve been working together with Valve to improve some of the netcode issues PC players are experiencing with Ultra Street Fighter IV. We recently implemented a change which is now live in the Steam Beta Client.
To subscribe to the beta release, go to [Steam->Settings, Beta participation]. If it doesn’t say “Steam Beta Update”, click the [Change…] button, and select the Steam Beta Update and let it update. Then, select [Steam->Check for Steam Client Updates] to make sure you have the latest update, and then check [Help->About] and make sure the “Built” string is greater than or equal to Mar 13 2015.
Really interesting…
I noticed that they had made an update to SF yesterday and since that my game stopped working… Then for about half hour I decided to try this Beta… and everything is back to normal game is working great!!!
I erased the part where i was excited, cause i don’t want to hype this thing up, only to have the same person in my head bitch about the netcode more than anyone like he always does, good luck!

Oh wait, it’s just a steam beta client update, nothing really done by Capcom, well, lets see how opting into the beta again works. (the steam beta, not a Capcom USF4 beta branch)
They supposedly made some changes to the p2p system on all games.
