yesterday, for like 5 fight in a row in endless in a private lobby with only 2 people, disconnect and going back to the lobby
the lag part was ok, but if you can t finish the fight…
what was fun is that at one point i beat my opponent and he beats me due to not being synchronized. the game showed. the next fight the game showed 1 victory on both side…
try this guys.
right click the steam app icon.
click settings in the menu.
click In-Game
go to in-game server browser: max pings/minute bar and choose 250 instead of its default automatic 5000
click close after you are done
it wont get rid of all lag but it helps a lot to reduce it.
boot up the game and let me know how it feels for you.
By the way how do you guys use headset to communicate during fights? I noticed my mic was on the whole time since it’s on by default in the game options. Do I use press-to-talk feature in Steam or just leave it voice activated?
also, as a heads up, tomorrow a new beta patch will be released.
edit:
my mistake. there was no new patch. just wbacon stating that the beta is gonna be official for everyone whether they opted in or not.
I have a very simple question to Capcom. Why did you make us switch to Steam when it’s obviously been a million times worse than GFWL? Also when you as a company have months and months to prepare for the switch why were we given such a crappy, unplayable pos of a netcode? Did you even test it EVER? I’ve never used Steam before this and I hate everything about it. GFWL’s interface was simple, quick, easy to use, and most importantly could be used in game. This Steam shit is just annoying and doesn’t seem to be user friendly at all. Not only the netcode but everything else has been so much worse too. Well done.
They were forced to switch to a new service because the GFWL store is closed.
The only part running of the GFWL service is the ability to play your games online. (With no hint at when it might close as well)
Capcom can’t release the USF4 upgrade, DLC, patches or even a new game on GFWL now.
As much as it is a rough time for the port on Steam right now, I do hold hope the beta patching will achieve results and after that we will be kept up to date with consoles (Another benefit of the switch is the removal of time gap in consoles/PC getting patches)
With Capcom’s Steam supported games released in the last year or so we have seen some patches arriving on PC a day or 2 ahead of consoles.
This was demonstrated with USF4 already when on Steam we received the patch that made unintended changes to Decapre and Rolento 1 day before both PS3/360.
This really is a nice change from Capcom and needs to be commended.
Anyway. That is my 2 cents (and some facts) on the subject.
Quick Tip
If you know your login details on GFWL you can install GFWL SSF4AE using the retail disc (without needing to input your key again)
Do this and you can have both SSF4AE and USF4 installed at the same time with no save file issues
I just played a set against someone. Easily over 20 matches. No lag at all. No “gradually getting worse”, no “packet accumulation”, nothing. And this has been true for other people I have played against as well…
Which is no surprise since 0 Europeans are on because it was 4 a.m. here. I had some late night sessions, too that went smoothly. It’s because you don’t get a crap load of request during those times. If you could check player statistics and log on during peak hours, you game is gonna die the same way as people who are complaining about lag all day on the forums.
Hehe’ The 360 net code feel’s like a dream cloud. I remember playing on 360 for a year before playing on PC, then thinking " Hmm PC might have a slightly better netcode, that’s pretty godlike considering that 360 version one was good." Then all of a sudden PC turned to shit with Steam works, then the console got ultra 2 months before PC, i said " well i’ll just get the 360 version sigh* time to play this before Ultra on PC comes out. I played all day and had a mixture of good and bad connections… I quit the game in general for awhile, the game releases on PC, and is still shit, then i start to man it up and just play it like that, then it became unbearable. The beta right now didn’t impress me, but the connections are solid on average now, just not as good as GFWL. Sigh* Then i decide to give the 360 version another shot cause i heard they got a patch too, then boom it’s godlike right now! O_O
90% of the time am playing with friends on a 2 players endless lobby, and i can tell you Xbox live dont even come close , and when i play peoples from my country its literally like offline, i dont really care about ranked/quick match/fight request not working , but i do hope that they fix them
I played you once, your connection was abysmal, on a day when most of my matches were decent.
Xbox is simply the best / only way to play Ultra, in terms of online quality and playerbase. Ultra has been getting better, but I suspect that’s because not many are in the beta; not many are flooding each other with connection requests.
There are so many flaws with the PC version and signs that they don’t care enough to make the UI more keyboard friendly. But the lag is what really kills the experience
The beta makes the game playable against some people in endless, its just a fucking scumbag move to release the fucking game broken as fuck and hope people will ride the storm out until they either give up and say FUCK YOU to everyone or actually fix the problems.
Either way, from now on I will pirate all Capcom games Im interested in to find out if they are playable before I buy them.
am from Algeria of course its going to be bad if you’re from US … i only play with EU players i never had problem with FR/UK/SW/NOR/SPAIN/GER players , and from what i tried on Xbox live, its not really better, its not AS BAD as ranked PC but its has more lag than what peoples claim at least for someone like me who always played on PC
