Have some of you guys tried locking your fps to 60fps so that it resembles the consoles version of sf4? I played against this guy last night for a good 6 matches and it felt so similar to offline I almost shed a tear. Where this other guy had a yellow bar it was laggy as hell the first fight but the next 6-7 matches were fully playable with no lag. Green bars=sex for me man its great but yellow bar connections can be either good or bad it just takes more than 1 match for everything to smooth out I guess.
the game was 75% off steam sale and it seems a lot of people who didn’t have the gfwl version purchased it.
but yeah. its scrubtacular right now on steam.
lower your model and particle. the only thing that should be high is your stage.
lower display down from 1600 to the point the game isn’t full screen anymore. like seriously bro.
the exact same thing happened to me.
the exact
same damn thing!
btw, was the guy a Sagat player by any chance?
I feel it suspicious. Not so much the “waiting for other player” popping up upon ultra activation and repeating itself like 20 times throughout the Ultra animations…as so much that the ultra was a raw Hail fuckin Mary with no set up or thought put behind it.
just,…hail mary ultra raw and rude, totally unsafe and blockable…waiting for other player appears when it didn’t throughout the entire match…pop up keeps poppin up like 20 times, the entire time I’m holding down block, like 3 days ago holding block, ultra hits cuz my character stopped blocking.
I laugh a “this is bs” type cackle.
edit:
I sense Sagat player=klaxblastard
I sense a great disturbance in the force.
Nonsense. Like I said before I played on GFWL with max settings with no issues. It’s only a issue with Steam. And I’ve done numerous benchmarks with all low settings, it really doesn’t make a difference in regards to the current Netcode. This game’s engine is over 10 years old, a rat with two loose wires can run this with 100 fps.
yeah the level dropped by a lot since the steam transition, its sad , but guys its pretty sure its a netcode issue ,they even confirmed it in that pre patch note i dont think you should question your specs, if the game run at 60fps with the default setting, you shouldnt worry at all
it’d be cool if people could run some offline lag tests to verify vsync is actually fixed, and some online input lag tests for testing the connection. if you have a high speed camera, an LED wired to your stick, and know your frame data this is a pretty easy test. would be better than saying ‘it feels like _____.’
It’s worth mentioning that the sf4 netcode has always been awful and if they’re experimenting with making it better I’m willing to give them some wiggle room while they work out the kinks.
Played some more matches today, these worse than they were before (different player pool). I’m getting a better idea of what some of the complaints were about. For whatever reason the challenges during arcade mode were better than trying to find a match myself.
When there’s a bad connection there are mini input drops, instead of just “regular” lag. Instead of persisting with the last known direction like GFWL as someone mentioned, things reset. Neither is great… It does make me wonder if that’s the problem people have been talking about with special moves not coming out- there are probably tiny input drops without any “connecting to player” message appearing.
I did notice inputs are more often read during the game freezes, though; I’ve been able to buffer specials etc during those windows.
Still ass. Capcom shot their self in the foot by not releasing Ultra at the same time as the console. The fact it’s the same console version without the content is hilarious.
Well… I am not sure, but I think it had something to do with the regions…
since the update this morning I am playing people from USA and Korea(!) and I am in Europe.
