wow i wish there were a club when i was going to uw

damn

Spicay!

y harro thar

hi, i’m visiting seattle for a month and wanted to know where some good game spots were…everyone here is talking bout the HUB and was wondering what it was and how far it is from Federal Way

The HUB is the Student Union Building on the UW campus. It is about a 40-50 minute drive from Federal Way.

Tilt in the Commons Mall is in the heart of Federal Way, but you won’t find much competition there.

dont go to the HUB unless its during a weekday during school hours. if you go in the evening or during the weekend, it is a tomb. people played there not because its the best arcade, but because it was the only option available to them on campus.

It is a tomb. The lady who is in charge of it is going to start working on revamping it and turning it into a more modern arcade (with consoles). She was asking a few of us what we thought would be good to go into it. I basically told her that she needs to turn it into a place where gamers can come for competition and community. A PS3, 360 and a Wii are things people can buy for themselves. If she wants to draw people, she needs to make it into a place where people can come for tournaments, friends and competition.

That’s why I go to the HUB. :bgrin::nunchuck:

Hey.

That is true. Although I also go there because I don’t have an arcade stick, yet. Don’t know what I’m waiting for, exactly… the next ice age?

Also - Word up for the fight club. How’s that going? Sorry I haven’t been checking SRK much - I’ll keep my eye on the thread from now on, honest. If I can help with anything, let me know.

I put it as “Fighting Game Community at UW” when I made the club because I still had to apply for SAO approval of our event and I thought it sounded more official.

We can change it to Guard Break Fight Club anytime we want by just resubmitting the constitution next quarter, which takes all of two seconds. I also refer to it sometimes as UW Marvel Club, but that isn’t the name (and can’t be).

We should really continue this conversation in the UW thread.

Also, we have an exclusive UW netID for the club, along with an email. I was going to create a shoryuken account with the email so that official announments from the club could be posted, but I didn’t want to make the name (you can only do it once) without asking everybody. GuardBreak? GuardBreakFightClub? UWMarvelClub?

Let me know what you think.

I also think having Cable’s Scimitar on the Sheild would be pretty cool along with the gun.

Cool. The official club name doesn’t matter so much for the logo, since I was just going to put it at the bottom. FGC is fine; doesn’t sound especially cool, but it gets the job done. But it sounds like it’s not such a huge deal either way.

Re: Psimitar. It’s just a spear, right? I had originally planned on (am still planning on) putting the rifle behind the stuff, but I’ll just finish up the line work and then you guys can take a look. I just threw that old one up so people would know I’m actually working on it. Kind of.

Right.What say you?

EDIT: My own impressions: There are some crooked lines in the rifle. Most notably, the front ‘barrel’ and bottom ‘grip’ section. I’ll fix those, if we keep the rifle. The rear of the rifle doesn’t have the same shoulder stock that is seen in MvC2, however I might like this: The gun already looks like a big rectangle, that shoulder stock doesn’t really help. The rifle might do to be rotated a little counter-clockwise.

The pistol I think looks good, but the shield is very simple with only one element inside of it. Boring. On the other hand, it might be fine: The good points are that it will be clear, even if it’s small and in B&W, and the empty space can be filled in with some color and texture for when you want that.

Putting the rifle and pistol together, crossed in the shield, is certainly an option. I will make a test pic of that, I think. Initially I liked the idea of having the rifle be very large, and the guns being more or less to-scale… We shall see.

The “rifle” looks like a bazooka! :amazed:

I like how it is looking so far.

How about cable’s scimitar behind the shield, instead of the gun?

Hm. I’ll give it a shot. Once I get line work done for everything, repositioning will be easy.

And as for the HVB, that’s more or less what it looks like in MVC2, too, so…

What do you think?

the spear is… just a spear… I could make it a little spikier, maybe. I’m kinda liking it, though. I made some emo spatter for the logo, but that layer is hidden, currently. After I clean a couple more things up, I can upload the photoshop file for lulz, if people want.

That is amazing. Upload the psd, we need to stick this on flyers.

Looks great. How about some actual info on the flier, though? The date, location, and games might help the uninitiated public. Or not, just keep it in the “in.”

I think the idea was that this is just a logo, and the fliers are a different, subtly related project.

Is somebody making fliers?

EDIT: Here’s a link to the PSD file. There are paths for the guns, in case you need to redraw/reposition those.

Pablo, as a premium member, you should have the pleasure of introducing my flier to the public. I think it would look good if the logo headlined it.

Got some match videos up from today. Sorry if I got your names wrong, I didn’t get all of them/remember them.

Uploading more soon.

Nice. That’s some steady camera-hand, especially considering you just had to kinda hold it.
Name’s Grant, though, if it comes up again. Too bad I got lucky against your BH/Sent.
Better luck next time.

I was gonna give it a good rating, but it’s turned off. :stuck_out_tongue:
