UMvC3 version 2013: The feedback thread

Actually I think X-23’s problems are not mix-ups(she actually has very good mix-ups) but getting to do those mix ups. Her air game is very weak.
I think she needs a move that gives her a hard knockdown to bring people out of the air. Crescent scythe should also be safe to do in the air.

ROFL “his combos with Purification”. You mean canceling the spinning knockdown into a super because that’s his solo combo potential with Purification. So scary.

Burning meter to keep myself safe on block is a pretty big deal since he needs meter more for straight punishes and preserving his spell cycles.

It is not spammable. On hit Purification is +11, on block +2. It takes 32 frames for Purification to start up. What does this mean in practical terms?

  • The only way you can juggle Purifications is if the point character attempts to air dash out after a hit and you anticipate it with Purification M. If he takes the first hit and blocks, Dorm only gets one followup Purification. If he blocks the first hit and air dashes, it makes the second Purification whiff and opens you up to a punish.
  • If Purification is blocked on the ground any character can dash out and make the second Purification whiff.
  • You cannot link Purification on hit into CF unless the opponent is in hard knockdown state. Either the body will flip out too fast and he blocks the top section of the hitbox or Chaotic Flame will completely whiff.

So if any player is getting “spammed” by Purification, he is a bad player who doesn’t understand basic frame data. Every character can get out of Purification range on block.

Smart Dorm players cancel Dark Matter into Purification full-screen or call Purification after an assist is called.

With your changes Purification H would be the only viable version. It would be +1 on hit and -8 on block. Spencer could punish Purification M on block with Bionic Arm; Vergil could hit him out of the next Purification startup with cr.L. Nova could do a brain-dead punish on hit with Human Rocket (shit he can already punish Purification on hit from full screen with it but he actually has to time the inputs correctly). And mind you he’s not Magneto. L Disruptor gets to be -21 because it comes out so fast. Dorm’s specials are deliberately plus on block because they are slow and punishable.

He wouldn’t even be able to get much of shit off of it because mystic ray HEAVILY scales HSD
Same reason it’s difficult to get anything off of js mystic ray midscreen.

He doesn’t need an incoming buff either. You are absolutely insane if you think he does. People don’t understand the playstyle of shuma. He is a poking character that relies on assists to stay in and go for fuzzies. Giving him an 8 way dash wouldn’t even matter because that’s not even how he approaches(+ he doesn’t need it for mixups) and giving him a teleport would defeat the playstyle of the character.

The only “nerf” he should get should be how he’s comboed.

What about Haggar are you even referring too?
And what is up with people liking comments from someone insulting someone without a reference or reason? O_o;

My suggested changes were in conjunction with all the other changes to all the other characters.
The crouching L change wasn’t due to frame traps…
It’s because I feel faster then 6 frame low hitting limbs should be reserved for none teleport high/low mix-up characters.
His low beats a huge part of the cast and he can teleport.
Ever notice how amazingly effective hit low, teleport+call assist is? O_o
The character is amazing… just over shadowed by the super broken…
After the broken characters are fair, Players like Fruitsy will dominate if left unchanged.

Please read my changes as a whole instead going crazy over one character change.

Saying they are the way they are by design is true for EVERY character.

Making him similar to others is balance and unless your saying balance is bad…
I feel that you, like everyone else… can’t like anything you weren’t conditioned to accept.

You mention the characters that he can punish… How about the one’s that he can’t.
If a 10 frame change is to much… how about a smaller change? O_o
Currently being full screen at super jump height makes most characters useless.
Rushing dorm down without Wolverine, Vergil, Rocket Raccoon, Magneto, Dante, Phoenix, Doctor Strange, Hulk or Amaturatsu ends up being chase the teleporter you struggle to catch.
I would mention doom but despite being fast, he’s terrible against Dorm.
Weakening one aspect is undoable?
I’m just trying to give runaway point Dorm with say Dante Jam Session, Vergil Rapid slash from getting 2 or 3 pillars after every run away.

I do enjoy your ability to foresee how changes will affect a character.

She’s a safe ground fighter… You wanna give a air option besides air grabbing them as they try to land?
I don’t see a problem with it…
But just note that if you look inside the UMVC3 Bible… She has a air to air combo.

Here’s a proposition I haven’t seen yet. Let’s assume TACs reset hit stun to 0 but don’t lock hitstun at 0. What if Up TACs don’t resume hit stun scaling when you land?

First of all by not nerfing him. Fixing =/= nerf. Secondly, I don’t understand how you think Haggar is overpowered.

Yes I’ve used X-23 before. I’m not a specialist but I know what her problems are. I’m pretty sure I would know of a viable sj conversion by now.

Anyways lol @at Missiles being a problem against an opponent that’s not moving. And being air grabbed by Phoenix Wright without an assist nor Maya.

A few hours later, i arrive to the conclusion that some of the changes viscant suggested are a bit easy-going.

He has no way to open up without assist…good normals, dbj, and CS is all he has. He’s complete unsafe with all his specials and hypers. I really doubt much thought has been put into that and I find it weird no buffs were mentioned as he is completely at a disadvantage against run away zoners and superior air options. Also his roll is throwable, making it always a risky attempt unlike teleporters who have true invincibility during the cross up.

also I deeply question Fruitsies use of Cap as 2nd with modok >_>

I feel that many many many of those changes are random conveniences and have nothing to do with properly fleshing out their role, weaknesses, and OP issues. Most of these characters need very specific things done not overhauls. I feel like the only characters that require deep overhauls are Zero and Vergil since both need to be beat to death with a nerf bat, but somehow not become bad characters. most characters have obvious shortcomings or OP issues. As well proper system changes to incoming, x-factor, TACs will fix most of the issues passively.

But were not making the “super broken” characters low tier or anything were just adjusting like one tool to make them fair towards the rest of the cast. If Morrigan gets nerfed so hard that Haggar and Phoenix Wright are the new top tiers I don’t want to play this game anymore.

If Wright started the match in Turnabout, had access to all of his evidence at once, and could use Maya shield he STILL wouldn’t be top 10.
Still has bottom 10 mobility and lacks a reliable way to deal with heavy zoning.
