Directly from RDK’s facebook:
“Yah so i got the american screw job again. I played and won a match that i was apparently wasnt suppose to play. Then lost my real match. In losers now.”
I can’t say what actually went down without being there myself, but I’m sure every perspective would have a different version of the story. Sad to hear about the lack of organization. Sometimes I wish I could make it out to more majors but I’m saving money for Evo - this is one time where I don’t really mind that I couldn’t make it.
Depends on the number of players and pools (obviously) but ChrisD is correct here. The number of wins needed to top (whatever) drastically increases for those in the losers bracket.
Well yea a lot of misunderstandings were happening the entire day. That’s why I wish things could have went a bit more smoothly as far as players knowing
Which pool they were in
When they had to show up
Who they had to go up against
There’s really no reason to keep all of this info hidden from everyone but the small handful on the staff. Those guys worked hard to try and get things going though, but they were running on tradition that involves signups at the door up to the very last minute then plugging all the names into brackets right before starting so it makes everything frustrating for everyone involved.
Edit: And apparently RDK just missed top 8 when he lost to Jago. Oh well, close enough.
I’m not sure how it works either but I recall it being mentioned several times on WNF streams that going into losers early doubles the amount of games you have to win.
The thing with DiosX is hes probably got the most optimised team in the game for zoning and probably the best team for Doom in the game. As far as I know there is no one else running Doom/Drones? Of course hes gonna look godlike with Drones backing him up. I’m not saying that his team is doing the work for him at all though, because he does alot of really smart and innovative shit with all his characters which is why I think hes underrated.Like the way he covers drones safely whilst utilizing all of dooms zoning tools in such a way so that there is almost always something on the screen keeping you out, its a beautiful sight.
I might have to adopt the Doom/X/Sentinel team in the future as zoning is my preferred playstyle. Currently I’m thinking Doom/Dorm/Sent? Anyone else like the sound of that team?
Yeah I went into training mode to test that dhc input glitch and yeah you do get a dp motion if you do the supers one after another. thats fucking bullshit since I think Chris G could have taken rog spencer/wesker afterward. Cost homie the match. If anything capcom needs to look into that since that is ridiculously poor programming.
What it is is an incredibly lenient input window and it fucks with more than just what you’re talking about. It was an issue in vanilla (see also: She-Hulk) and it continues to be an issue.
It’s not even a bug/glitch. The input buffer is simply larger in Ultimate than vanilla for no reason I can figure out. I do believe the game drops more inputs than vanilla, but I obviously can’t be sure of that.
I dunno, I still think this game’s problem isn’t necessarily (insert hated top tier character here). It is, to me at least ,GODDAMN LEVEL 3 X-FACTOR.
Seriously. For a boost of speed and power to such ridiculous levels, it’s super stupid that it lasts as long as it does, even with the duration nerfs/scaling in Ultimate. Each level should last as long as level 1 XFactor if you ask me, or something similar.
It’s not even entirely the input buffer. UMvC3 freeze inputs during super flash. So because your :qcf: hyper ends in :f: the game keeps that in the input buffer until super freeze ends (this is, from what I’ve been told, to keep people from reaction-blocking hypers that are instant or super fast post flash, though I can’t confirm that). So if you try and DHC immediately, the input buffer sees :dp::f::atk::atk: and gives you the SRK hyper instead. It’s annoying (IMO not as annoying as that “hold 2 buttons to automatically DHC” bullshit that MvC3 has), but still completely avoidable if you delay your input by about a quarter second.
Yeah, XF3 still too good.
The worst part is that even the Wesker players were still dropping combos/doing suboptimal combos.
There are a bunch of reasons why the play was so sloppy, and plenty of those are obvious. I also have a suspicion that people are grinding games but not focusing on targeted improvement, and that people aren’t thinking for themselves when it comes to approaching the game’s problems.
NEC was a let down for a lot of people because we could all see the game wasn’t being played the way it was supposed to. Everyone in the Top 8 looked like frauds compared to themselves even 2 months ago.
