UMvC3 Stream & Commentary Thread v3

I’m gonna go out and say it and it hurts my soul to say this as an EC player. The Runback has been more hype than Battle Circuit recently. People don’t commentate at Battle Circuit, and turnouts have been dwindling. Plus we only get to see the same top 3 players fight and they always place pretty much the same order every time.
Its like I’m finally seeing what people who play unpopular games have been complaining about for so long.

Twitch is gonna get fucking rocked when the new consoles come out.

NLBC already done?

But it’s because not all of those people know exactly what’s going behind the scenes. Although I have to say that in terms of hype, The Runback has been consistent with it in commentary as well as NLBC but as you’ve said numbers have been dwindling recently. That’s life unfortunately. Happened back in MvC2 hayday and it’ll happen again in our time.

The amount of Salty Bots is too damn high.

Actually no. I worded that poorly. The first time I decided to pick up zero I went for the 2013 version because they were easier. In the end, i went to the old version.
Picking Zero WAS drifting out of my comfort zone. I’ve arrived into a zone FAR more comfortable now though haha.

gonna enjoy me some titanfall streams and dead rising 3 streams since i’m not dumb enough to get an xbone.

mmhhmm

xbox go home

Note about the improved lightning loops: You can do either L or M raikousen before buster, it really doesn’t matter for damage as long as you know how to control your Sougenmu time. You can do perfect normal jump lightning loops (5 hits from every lightning) either way, you just have to do buster pretty fast if you’re doing the L version. I’ve been doing lightning loops this way since about last October with L raikousen. I also charge during loops with M, so its really weird mechanically for me to do a M raikousen in there.

People just don’t play Marvel at Next Level like that despite there being a lot of really good NY players.
I stopped by there on non tourney days and people played everything BUT Marvel. Heck even on tourney days
not many Marvel games up.

All will soon hail the only other game than Marvel that won’t put stream monsters to sleep. The glorious Killer Instinct. Glorious America dominated fighting games. Support Murrica.

Killer Instinct looks bad.

I like the way it looks so far over SFIV any way. They basically did what SFIV was originally going to do, but pass up on artistically. Before SFIV came out they were going to have the ink effects on all of the moves, but figured it was too “flashy/messy” and didn’t add it outside of focus attacks. With Killer Instinct they basically just took that concept and said “letttss goooooo”. Everything’s got trails and lights flashing.

The animations could be a bit smoother in some parts (there’s still no real detailed death animations, they just kinda plop to the floor still), but we’ll see what happens. Game is still in dev stage and they’ve been adding little touches to the graphics as the game goes on.

Can’t be any worse than Injustice’s death animations. Get swept at low health > get knocked down > stand up > remember you’re dead and fall down again > “Superman Wins”.

LULZ. Yeah since Killer Instinct is a constantly updating digital title they’ll be able to improve small details and balance stuff for pretty much…ever. It’s not going to get a sequel or semi sequel or anything like that. It’s just going to be like a fighting game MOBA where it just has this ecosystem that keeps getting content added to it forever. They’ll be in constant cohorts with the Double Helix community especially so if people scream that “hey…these animations here need touch ups” they can basically go in and work on it. They already did it with Glacius’ puddle punch so it has more of a liquid effect like the older games.

People are even arguing that they should change the fonts so they look more “American/Killer Instinct”. So by the time the game comes out or shortly after, you may see ready and winning displays that look more like the traditional games. In the original games the announcer/display never said fight either. Once he said the word Ready, shortly after you can just start fighting people. The game lets you move around before the fight starts now like Marvel and you have life bars instead of rounds like Vampire Savior/Injustice (even though Killer Instinct was the first game to do that) so it’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out.

On top of that Superman is probably the most boring top tier I’ve seen in a fighting game in a while. Punch x 3 frame trap into laser. Then just lots of laser that has better recovery than Viper’s laser. Win world major and stuff.

Jehovah’s Witness ass MF over here

isn’t it next level that has the laggy monitors? I can see why
fuck marvel when you don’t have a perfect setup, game is too fast to play on laggy stuff

Not sure, all I know is I when I do find competition I win way more games than I should for primarily being an online warrior.
Maybe that’s why LOL! It also explains why the same people win every week.

The arcade culture hasn’t really moved into Next Level like in olden times. In those days you could roll into CTF and find the top players running machines on a saturday. Now, you won’t find ChrisG,Flux, and RayRay hanging around all day.

There are good players but if you are decent you can walk in and win games, yeah.
People play with their own groups. Like, yo dawg anyone down for a session? My house after 8, bring cheetos.

Now, Next Level is basically the hub on tourney days. You play with your training group to prepare, but you don’t go to Next Level unless it is to show off what you’ve got. No one really trains at Next Level unless they live down the street or something.

I’ve been laughing at Tekken’s get punched in face, fall down holding back KO animations since at least TTT1. Oh, and Soul Calibur’s “oh shit, I got KO’d? Guess I’d better turn around slowly and fall down facing the other way” thing.
