Since you’re one of the few people I respect when it comes to Chris I think also the one who made it the farthest at EVO I’d like to ask where you think he should be? I feel in the match ups he does well he’s fine, but that every single character in S tier, A tier and A- tier are terrible match ups for him and although he does well against a lot of the B characters they have more positive match ups. Do you think he needs to be moved to the top of B-? Or does he need to be even higher than that? I’d love to hear your thoughts on why he should be higher on the list.
As for Hsien-Ko I completely agree, however I feel that with the low duration of Rimoukon paired with low health and damage output she would be just fine to be more mobile, it means you’d actually have to deal with her mix ups or actions in Rimoukon as opposed to just running away for pretty much free. A regular dash and faster air run paired with cancellable Senpu-Bu would make it so she has a lot more match ups in her favor without getting her anywhere near the stupidity of the S characters.
I’ve never been able to block the flash kick after EX BK. But still, if you OS with other moves Jill can beat them, and if you OS with EX BK Jill can block. Either way, I wouldn’t overuse unassisted teleports anyways. It’s pretty much like you said, she’s a monster up close, and she hit’s like a truck, so it’s an issue. Plus, you can space MGS to be +1 (or even, it’s tough to tell) on block, and Jill has the best close normals in the game.
Do you feel with this in mind she deserves to be higher placed than the other rush down monsters in B tier? I think that she’s scarier once inside, but that her approaches are less optimal than the 3 I put above her? Do you feel she deserves A- instead?
I dunno, I don’t think Hawkeye or Dormamu are particularly difficult matches for Chris. Also, it’s not a huge thing, but having an invincible CC that if he hits it actually can kill most characters that are an issue is not really something to look over.
Amaterasu is too low Chrisis. What matchups do you think she struggles so badly with? I think you answering this would be better than me spouting off reasons she’s good.
Personally, yes. She is a better version of X23, and arguably a better version of Wolverine. Another take is a slightly weaker Wesker. Her big weakness is she has very, very strict team requirements.
At this point I think that X-23 is a better version of Wolverine. I could see Jill being very strong, but I’m not sure I could value her over X-23, then again maybe I’m just fond of her after playing a recent set.
Man why is DJ still arguing with this Malcolm guy? He was trolling the bullied kid thread and now he’s trolling the Tier discussion thread, smh. Let’s try to prevent his trolling from spreading.
I just thought of the swaggiest combo with Viper(burn kick)/Zero/Sentinel (drones) and I thought of you. XD

Swag.
Agreed. Hyper Armor is a tool to be respected when it’s on the right character, certainly. But even if she were given more mobility through better airdashes and Pendulum cancels, would she approach the levels of bullscheiße that Firebrand (who builds meter in his install, fer cryin’ out loud) and the Brothers Sparda appreciate from their installs? No. I think she’d probably be mid-tier, maaaaaybe upper-mid. It’s only five seconds of hyper armor when on point too. Not to mention that while it makes for a very good assist, it is not godly.
As far as the “Wesker doing well in tournaments” thing, most of the people playing in the tournament are playing Wesker, and most of the people who place well in majors are good players (Then there’s Mike Ross). It isn’t hard to understand.
Wesker doesn’t carry top players. They like to hurpdurp with Wesker, so they do. And they win because they are good + he is good. Doesn’t mean he’s the best.
EDIT: Also, Chrisis, what do you mean by Disruptor assist nerf? It no longer causes knockdown but I don’t think any frame data was changed.
I consider Wolvie S-Tier…with vajara. A+ with any other assist.
I’m running Yellowbrand/Wolvie/Strider and the blockstun caused by Vajara allows Wolvie and Yellowbrand to get in on the opponent effortlessly.
Only thing is that Strider is my weakest character. Hopefully when I get better with him my team will be tournament worthy.
Disruptah’s frame data is pretty much the same but has 2 more frames of recovery iirc…what they should have did is slowed the start-up but I guess a damn stupid 7 frame beam is a okay in capcom’s book. :wtf:
The only thing I like about Jill over 23 is that she does a bit more damage without an OTG assist and she has a screen clearance super. Both characters can TOD up the ass with an OTG assist so it’s whatever either way on the combo spectrum.
The main thing I like with X-23 over the other rush types is that she has the easiest time getting in of all of them. Call beam assist + H talon attack = you’re getting in on most anything that isn’t full screen beam super unless they somehow sniped your assist first. H talon attack with assist gets you in on everything super fucking fast and brings you to the ground fast also and covers a lot of shit when combined with long ranged assist. Jill mainly sits on the threat of screen clearance super into combo to deal with long range point + assist zoning but 23 can get past it easily with a long ranged assist without burning meter. X-23 also has what is basically the game’s fastest wave dash so she has no problem gliding along the ground where she can be safe against air throws to close the footsie gap in a few wave or plink dashes.
@Chrisis, Firebrand’s placement is still too high. Yes he’s a rushdown badass but he’s somewhat one dimensional. if you know the match-up he’s beatable. Demon missile M will always go behind the opponent. so one can expect that. Since his normals are short-ranged (and DM leaves him far away) you can expect him to slide afterwards. His best instant overhead (Air Light) people will expect him to swoop down and use when he’s in the air. See my point? Firebrand can’t really do screen switching cross-ups. He’s just very good at high lows. I say a few months down the road when people realize this, opinions of Firebrand will drop. If you lock him down with strong defensive zoning the guy starts to falter.
If he was referring to EM Disrupter as an assist, the knockdown change did make it a poor tool for extending combos. But it’s still good for firefights and getting a party started.
Firebrand says X-23 is fat…compared to him. lol Anyway I quoted this just to agree, even though my X-23 is scrub quality I can’t complain about her effectiveness at getting in. But a quick question since you seem like you know alot about her, did they decrease the invincibility frames on that one hyper of hers? I played against a level 3 Frank today and he beat out 23’s hyper.
