Just out of curiosity… how often have characters actually moved around on this tier list (or rather, how often has the consensus/a majority of opinions been changed) based on theory alone? Sure, there’s plenty of theory behind why Viper and Zero are good despite their lack of tourney wins, but there also happens to be plenty of footage of them actually putting their stuff into practice against skilled players, proving their viability even if they don’t have results yet. After half-following this topic and the last, it occurs to me that anything without some kind of video footage behind it is mostly ignored or at best given a “you have some decent points” on the rare occasion that the dissenting poster is actually polite to those who rebut him, but even then, no one’s mind really changes. A bit odd considering that it’s supposedly a discussion topic.
Now, don’t think I’m saying there’s anything wrong with this. In a game with as many variables to account for as this one, it’s completely reasonable to ignore pure theory and insist that something be shown as effective in actual practice. I’m just bringing it up because it might be useful to let people know that they need to have some kind of video evidence if they want to be taken seriously when going against the grain–for example, Mr. Phoenix Wright Doesn’t Suck probably could have benefited from such a warning.
