Seems like there’s a lot that could be done with that, if anyone could make it practical. But I’ve never seen it applied outside of training mode videos.
I see why people run into issues with those things, but they’re all things that her other tools let her get around and speaking purely on match ups Firebrand is the only character she loses to if she has Vajra assist and the rest of her ‘bad’ match ups are even. Her dash is pretty average actually, it’s not terrible but it’s not awesome. Viper ball covers more horizontal distance more quickly especially when EXd.
Strider also has the best AA assist in the game.
Wesker sucks
I think Hulk’s is better at actually Anti-airing, but Striders can lead to full combos for a few characters so it’s more practical.
Also we still can’t forget about Lariat.

I know this is nit-picking, but her m t-knuckle got nerfed in the distance it travels. It may not sound like a big deal but in vanilla when you threw out a m. TK at the end of a blockstring and your opponent advance guarded, the m. TK would still hit, In Ultimate Viper’s m. TK Whiffs at the end of an advance guarded blockstring.

I feel the way that people currently play him makes him B Tier, A/A- Maximum. This especially applies to Dark Wesker play.
Well I also hear the timing is easier for the M TK pressure now that it’s no longer 1 frame tight.
I dunno…bitch can still TOD you pretty easily (it seems like Capcom just wants to build her around one touch deaths), EX seismo is a great tool that leads into TOD’s that pretty much no other character has access to (having a reversal period is BIG in this game where the defensive tools are limited), her issues with super jump heights are pretty mitigated with the proper assist, I don’t see her wave dash being that much of an issue since she controls ground and regular jump height way better than say Chun…just a lot of fucking shit that girl has.
Strider is better at controlling super jump height. Not sure about the ground level, especially since it’s so easy to hit and punish as it appears over your head. Hulk/Haggar are better at protecting your head space.
Thing is Strider’s Vajira affects the entire vertical plane so if affects the s.J-projectile throwers where Hulk’s and Haggar’s are better as GTFO assists against happy happy rushers.
We have seen her stuff in tournaments, though. We see Seismo Spam. We see unblockables and dirty setups on incoming characters. We see Seismo FADCs and big combos. We see EX Seismo safely blowing up points+assists at the same time. We many not see it all done consistently and regularly yet by one player, but it’s been coming together. There’s no reason to think it will suddenly stop.
This last weekend, we saw Zero TOD’s and lightning loops in actual tournament play, and it was damn consistent. Scarily so. I have no reason to think that people are suddenly going to plateau with Viper’s neutral game when we know she has access to more, too.
I think there are only a few low tiers in this game. Majority of the cast is middle tier and higher. If PW and Frank West don’t get their momentum going, they are low tier, but they also have level up qualities that make them a good character eventually, I like to even it out and say that are both middle tier. These are not consistent characters, they can overwhelm you sometimes, and in other matches they can be pretty much useless. I believe they both belong in mid tier land just to be fair. I still think Hsien Ko and Iron man are the worst characters in this game along with PW and Frank West when not leveled up. Everyone else seems better than them.
I would definitly like some thoughts on Thor though. I never really seen what he could do in Umvc3 yet, so its really difficult to place him.
strider isn’t too dominating on point. hes made of paper and doesn’t really do much damage compared to other good characters.
however, hes an excellent anchor. he has one of the better assists in the game, he becomes one of the fastest characters in level 3 x-factor along and ouroboros is boss.

Really? I’ve been a bit lax on tournament watching lately, only catching bits of the last few, so I might be wrong. It’s good to hear that her FADC stuff is coming along, then. I remember when I first saw that tutorial video and thought of all of the possibilities for it. That’s actually a lot of what pushed it over the edge for me and put Viper into S-tier for me, just thinking of the potential that she had with that alone.
Why is skrully only B tier? Why do people sleep on him so much I maimed him for a while and he is definitely better than Akuma who is somehow A tier. Skrully has damage, speed, ambiguous stuff by himself, a command grab is way better than Akuma on anchor (where Akuma is usually put). Akuma is just an assist character and a character you can only lose to of you get careless also franks shopping cart does the job better Anyways.

I really want to see somebody good that’s not Jwong playing Iron Fist, until that happens we can’t judge how flukey his play is.
I gotta say I think he’s on the same level as Haggar, just different ways of overcoming what are just about the same weaknesses, ultimately the same strengths.
IF has a lvl3 that’s worth something though.
Iron Fist is basically a faster Haggar with a better high/low game.
Also a much better dash/dash cancels and nothing like the pipe.
I actually can’t disagree with you since I’ve never fought a Hsien-Ko so you actually would know more. I’m just kind of basing my post on the general consensus that Hsien-Ko isn’t all that good.
With that said I’d imagine I wouldn’t focus on zoning much and rush her down a bit. She does have mixup potential but it doesn’t seem like she has the mobility to force someone into a position where you can potentially mix someone up. She also doesn’t have something that forces you to respect her, other than her armor hyper, which can easily be outrun. Still, I don’t know how the match up goes. It’s a shame so few people use her.
