Dormammu is not a bad matchup lol
I know, I know.
I must be playing it wrong then, I think it is the pits. How do you approach it?
Is this some sort of running gag? Because first it was cute, now itās annoying.
Whoever this ray guy is, I want to call him up and tell him to get back on the forums to reclaim his celebrity status lol. Anyway, Firebrand is too high up still. Heās A, not A+. Anyone with decent normals can bring him down.
l version is 2 frames (fast)
m version is 5 frames (average)
h version is 10 (slow, but you can cancel his normals into it)
Can anyone clarify why Strider is considered A+ to S?

Once you get his mobility down heās a pain in the ass to handle, Vajaraa feints, that wall-cling dash, fast moves, ouroboros, Strider is one of the best.
Iām guessing Ouroboros and Mixup capability, and the fact that he works well in multiple places, not just anchor and assist - heās backed very well by assists himself so heās good on point, XF3 Ouroboros is another heavily used tool so heās good at anchor etc.
So Dormammuās best approach is to try and fight off any initial projectile assaults by using his unique normals to cancel the projectiles that Chris shoots out. Fortunately now, you can cancel f+m into a gunshot of any type, this kind of puts him in the situation of having to use a random hyper to counter thatā¦which may or may not be a waste, considering Chris has quite a bit of health.
So instead, he may want to use his newfound rusdown capabilities. Now most Dormammuās are smart and use a beam assist of some kind to aid them. If they donāt, itās super easy to react to Dark Matter startup with quick f+m and stop that nonsense. However, weāre still playing a smart one, so letās look at it that way.
Chris is special because he has the prone shot, which will not only avoid the dark matter, but avoid the beam assist. This helps because you can avoid both, and depending on the beam assist, pull a fast one. For example, my Dormammu playing friend uses Magneto beam. Well, Disruptor is fast, but itās not active for that long, so Prone ducks the beam and the DM, and allows me to jump and meet Dormammu before his big slow normals even start coming out.
Dormamu is also hindered by his big 'ol hitbox, so if Iām up close, I can get good instant overheads, and if theyāre blocked I donāt have to worry because I can end with a shotgun cancel to stay +35 and make a good backwards retreat with j.d+c. His hitbox also hurts when heās making an approach against a landmine, because heās so big that where as most characters avoid the mine explosion from hitting Chris, he doesnāt more often than not.
Before this match was very difficult because one f+m never lead to anything and just stalled the match, but he can always force Dorm to do something, or at least make him think because you can cancel into landmine to stint his approach. Also, with Prone being sooooo much faster, if he throws a DM full screen, just hit prone and you duck the shit and can meet him in the air usually. Chris doesnāt have the advantage, donāt get me wrong, but itās not a Dorm destruction. In fact, without assists, itās almost a dead lock.
Zero
Dorm
Wesker
Magneto
Dante
Dr.Doom
All characters that I think are better than C.Viper
You know my opinions on this. The only one of those characters even in her league is Zero. The rest have far less positive match ups and all have losing match ups against her.
His assist is one of the best in the game. Itās a very important assist for a bunch of B tier characters that are weak vs air control, and it happens to be on a character that has ridiculous comeback factor in the anchor slot with XF3 and/or meter loaded.
Heās not quite as devastating as Dark Phoenix for instance, but he adds a lot more to the team and requires much less of it, and heās safer on point than she is for sure.
Heās fast, hard to hit, has good sword normals, Formation B shot is ridiculous, he has a bunch of ways to cross-up, easy combos off his throws/air throws, and so on.
Iād say heās considered so highly because heās the best all-around anchor in the game. In Vanilla, it was Akuma. Now itās Strider.
I find it funny how thereās a handful of people saying Viper is not S tier and DevilJin completely ignores it XD.
āOK GAIZ EVERYBODY AGREES ON THIS!ā
My problem with Viper is that so much of her stuff has never really been seen outside of training mode. She has a lot of ridiculousness that doesnāt make it into real matches. I have Viper in S, but the real question with her is: how practical is some of that technology? If it never ends up being practical in real fights, then Iād lower Viper a bit. Basically, I have her high up there because of what weāve seen in training mode and under the presumption that it could eventually be applied to real fights, but itās hard to say if that will ever really make it into the realm of practicality.
This joke got 10x funnier when I realized that my iPad is registering this as an actual contact numberā¦
Also shutouts to Zeus for coming first in the Frsy Faustings IV UMVC3 Tournament making salt fly with team trench. Good stuff man.
Whatās so special about me that I have to get into the Viper argument? I already responded to what Motempest typed who I know from back during the SFIV Ibuki days (who made a LONG ass post about Viper). I gotta respond to everybody else too? Iām trying to avoid some of this stuff like the PW back and forth. LOL.
Viper is simply what the people have chosen (I chose her for my own reasonsā¦but like 15 other people chose her also). I donāt even play Viper so I pretty much have the people talk for me on her. I believe that sheās most likely a character that a top Japanese player would already be raping people with but (if you go into theory land where the AE version of this game comes out in Japan)ā¦I do think she has certain issues that require a certain level of execution and awareness to overcome. Thatās in a game where you can be a huge threat if you learn a high tier character that can ABCS BBCS call Wesker.
Other than thatā¦the fact that Capcom was crazy enough to buff a character that was already considered top tier in Vanillaā¦even in theory I wouldnāt wanna bring her down from S tier really because thatās really just stupid. I thought she was going to get nerfed if anything.
Basically until the people vote her off S tier thatās where sheās gonna stay.
If you havenāt seen her stuff outside of training mode then you havenāt been watching streams for the last ~6 months.
I am curious to see this Viper BS as well. I donāt see her dirtiness being displayed often enough, so Iām naturally skeptical
Oooooh, my mistake then, guess it was just a crazy coincidence that you happened to create your account only a couple days after he got banned, post in the same sections he did, then not long ago piss off Mike Z in a way Iāve only seen MysticRay do before⦠Well, nevermind me then āFirebrandedā
I know Chrisis, to be honest, your the reason I picked up Viper in vanilla and I think she is the most fun character to play in the history of fighting games⦠I been exclusively playing Viper since about May of last year, That said, Viper has just a few glaring weakness in her normals, losing to extremely lame play and super jumpers.
Something that isnāt ever pointed out here but I also feel is a weakness of hers is her ground movement speed. Viper has a terrible wavedash speed, and yes you can seismo, dash, seismo but regardless, itās still a bad dash.
Donāt get me wrong, I think Viper is an amazing character and does alot of things that only she can do but I also feel that she is being slightly overrated
He has his own built in mix up with formation A, quick teleport, great wave dash, has projectiles, self relaunch, two great level threes, oroboros + lvl 3 xfactor. The only thing strider has going against him really is that he doesnāt have a command grab And he is made of paper. Also his is GAWDLIKE
