UMVC3 SRK Tier List/Theory Discussion. (NEW THREAD NOW AVAILABLE)

You play Zero and you don’t realize his potential? I am in serious question of your skill.

I can understand that someone who doesn’t play Zero is a skeptic, but wtf man?

So you closed the other thread to pretty much make the same thread.

cool.

How many more options can you possibly have?

You need to stop using arguments that are universal to every character. Sure you can SJ and run away from Viper in XFC but that is a tactic that literally works against the entire cast.

Needed an OP that would be updated and have some solid content on it for newcomers to the thread and what not.

Best anchors in no particular order are. Dark Phoenix, Wesker, Felicia, Skrull, Nova, Dorm, Vergil, Phoenix Wright (Turnabout mode) and Strider.

Yeah, try jumping to the exact location of the opponent and using an air grab which can be used by anyone and everyone can tech out of it, or go ahead and throw a random air hit-burn kick.

Pretty sure nobody can respond to that, that is some mind-blowing tech ya got there.

How do you know that it’s not you getting air thrown away?

What’s Wesker, Nova or Felicia going to do against someone who jumps? :coffee:

Lets get this straight. Hsien ko is better than Phoenix Wright. It’s fun to poke around gamefaqs because that site is a bat cave of PW fans. But ya, he is truthfully the worst character in the game. Hsien ko has been used in Majors for awhile so there are some players who probably see her to be workable. She is a low tier character IMO because she lacks allot of positives that the S-B characters have but she is not Wright-horrible.

Wright is in his own tier list. He is our new Dan-Roll-Servebot tier.
.

Again this is a universal argument that applies to every damn character in this entire game.

runnign away by SJ or flying or air dashing or whatever is a tactic that works against everybody.

You can super jump away from them too though man…I don’t get your argument. I don’t think Viper is a better anchor than most of those, but your argument is moot.

So tell us: If you were to tier Zero, where would it be?

Is Phoenix Wright trash? … Yeah.

Does he deserve his own tier? Hell, no. Luck is hardly a factor in evidence gathering, getting good pieces is as easy as 1, 2, 3.
His normals are ass, but if he does get a combo, the damage is pretty decent.
His hypers are excellent for helping out his gameplan.
His assist nerf hurt him, but he still has an OK assist in the form of a cute little dog named Missile.

PW sucks, but not to a point where he gets his own tier.

Also: I’m pretty sure Magneto didn’t make S Tier in MvC2 because he was great in the third spot. He did his best on point, and that’s what made him one of the best. (I think. Someone with more Marvel 2 knowledge enlighten me if I’m wrong.) Factoring in how well a character does in X position doesn’t make too much sense (to me, at least) if it isn’t that character’s best spot.

EDIT:

Why is that? He’s bottom for sure, but not in his own tier.

Weskers got gun shots and directional teleports, that helps keep the opponent grounded while Wesker appoaches with a teleport. Nova, has that j.H and that dive kick and centurion rush and energy javelin and can combo from throws easily with huge damage while boosting X-factor 3 to X-factor 4 of 5 if he’s got enough red life. Felicia with that delta kick in the air and her huge speed boost that goes along with it and mini Felicia to open people up and put up intense corner pressure. (Look at what Shady K does with Felicia).

I agree with you that those are all really good anchors but Viper can literally do everything most of them can and some better.

Weskers gun doesnt shoot in front of him in the air so SJing essentially avoids this as well. if she shoots you on the ground, pushblock, SJ again.

Im not arguing Wesker isnt a good anchor because he is amazing. But Viper can do everything Wesker can do.

Reason: The randomness factor makes the reliable strategy of his gameplan unreliable at its core.

If was on rotation, would belong in Hsien Ko. A character who depends on a transformation controlled by random factor does not make me a happy camper. Then next he needs to have his mix up option increased slightly so he can open people up much better. Then he would be on par with others.

Up back stops a lot of that stuff dude… Seriously. I agree those are good anchors, but you can still run away from all those things just like Viper.

Where the fuck is magneto. xfactor 3 magneto is the scariest thing in the world.

A real Zero is S tier easy. The problem is most people see like flocker and killer kai and go “ehhhh hes good but not great…”, thats cuz they have sub optimal zero squads. Zero/Wesker is prolly one of the dumbest fucking archetypes I’ve seen. Pair zero with dante/vergil/doom/drones and he is retarded.

The more I play Vergil the more he is creeping up my rankings. Top ten right now and I feel like I’m just scraping his shit.

Even in Turnabout mode Wright still sucks, don’t let the hype music distract you. The only time I’ve been ever been scared of Wright is with Level 3 X-Factor and Cell Phone evidence, even then there are so many better X-Factor 3 characters. He has the worst mixups in the game except maybe Hsien Ko but even she has really nice left rights with some assists thanks to her dash, and at least she has a purpose with an amazing assist. Missle assist isn’t good either.

Great point.

The “randomness” is very much in his favor though. Hell, the chances of getting bad evidence is pretty negligible, actually. (I do agree that the randomness needs to be cut, though. Damn it, Capcom, why did you give Wright such a shitty design…)

As for mix-ups… yeah, I got nothing. There’s that overhead, but I have no idea about the finer details of it or of PW’s ability to get chances to use it.

Wesker, Dorm, Hawkeye, Taskmaster, Vergil, Nova/ Zero.

I’d rate him as 6th or 7th best character in the game. Kind of a tie between Nova and Zero.
