The tier list is a starting point. It’s not half bad imo. Now if we were going to organize characters in the tiers assuming thats where they belong here’s what I’d dig:
S Tier: Zero, Dante, Wesker, Dorm, C.Viper, Strider - I want to believe in C.Viper but for now, I just don’t. Strider while pretty nuts, just doesn’t have the control/easy conversion of the rest imo.
Lets start with the S. Tier list, ASSUMING that’s where they fall for now. If you feel a character in S Tier currently is the weakest put them at the end.
Yea Marns opinions is terrible. I remember when people realized Zero got buffed in this game he posted on twitter that he was happy Zero got buffed because he needed A LOT of buffs. He sadly obviously knows very little about his character still almost a year into the game (and he was using him from the start).
Marn is still literally playing day 1 vanilla Zero. He is a great player but he needs to step his stuff up because he uses a team that could be potentially very dominant. I will take Ninis Zero over Marns Zero any day.
DevilJin01 has some sort of personal vendetta against the letter D.

Yea DJin if I might ask why are you going by the S,A+,A,B,C format? Why is A the only letter that gets a sort of sub division?
Not complaining, just curious to as why you went that route. Is that like an official format or one that a lot of games go by using?

Not really official, though usually when I see people purposefully avoid a D tier it’s a statement of personal opinion about overall character variety ( since D has strong negative connotations, avoiding a D tier seems to imply you think no one is useless ).
Also, first time I’ve actually scrutinized your avatar… Sunset Riders is a gdlk game.
Yup pretty much one of the most underrated games of all time. It is almost like Starfox 64 in that it takes like an hour to beat but you can beat it 1000 times and it never gets old.
Marn is an idiot.
Hawkeye, Dante, Firebrand, and Dorm can fight Zero. It isn’t free by any means.
Dormmamu is questionable. Zero can’t play lame against him, but how can Dormammu turn his rushdown around unless he tags him with anti-air cr.M
Considering how early it still is and how varied opinions have been I really like the page 1 list. The only things I would strongly contest are C tier not being separated enough and Strange is significantly better than the others in his tier, but overall it’s a good list.
I think Phoenix Wright is not as hopeless as some people believe he is…Why, I’d say he is better at actually fighting than some of the characters you guys have put in D tier (namely Hsien Ko) or even on par with some C tier characters (like Iron Man or Iron Fist). I’m not saying that he is not lacking, but he is definitely not in his own tier. I use him regularly on my main team and at the very least I can say that he does not feel useless and that he does have some interesting options that help him do a decent job in battle.
For example, he is the only character that does not have to attack to keep the opponent on its toes. Looking for evidence is enough to make some characters nervous because of the possible objection (which in itself also adds to the pressure when 3 pieces of evidence are gathered) and, with the help of maya shield and his long active frame normals, he can punish some attempts at rushing him down while collecting evidence (for example, he can stuff Dante’s teleport approach + sentinel drones with maya shield and standing L). His trial mode game with 3 pieces of evidence and the right assists can make him a very annoying zoner (specially with the cellphone or the vase). Obviously, his turnabout mode only makes him more annoying, even scary, and it’s not that hard to get either.
Overall, he has a lot of shortcomings, but he is not without tools.
Strange IS NOT significantly better than Morrigan, Sentinel, Jill, Rocket Raccoon, MODOK, or Deadpool. We can discuss it if you’d like though, because I’d love to hear each of your reasons. Keep in mind, I didn’t say he wasn’t better than some of those characters, but that he wasn’t significantly better.
Im still confused on how some people still think Vergil is overrated.
Strange needs a team built around him or at least some meter so he can threaten with SoV. I’m amazed Diemninion runs him without a Beam assist o0
I have limited experience, so I feel as if I should only compare the characters I am familiar with…
That said: in a strictly limited comparison…
Zero>Dormammu>Akuma>Amaterasu
The reason I put Zero as the best in this line is that he can BOTH rush-down and zone to an effective degree.
Dormammu is best at zoning, but since this tactic is very effective in this game, he is one of the best characters…
not to mention his teleporting and flying abilities allow him that extra edge over the competition.
Akuma is, as always, a glass cannon. His offensive abilities are immense, but he can still be zoned out by good players.
Combined with low health, he is powerful… but not “stable”.
Amaterasu, IMHO, is adaptability in it’s greatest form. Though she lacks the flight of other characters, she more than makes up for it with fast attacks, a LONG air-dash and the ability to switch between any tactic she chooses…
But, on the downside, she can be fairly predictable and has very low health.
Opinions?
For me at least, it isn’t that he is overrated. I just think other characters are better than him/supply better team utility. In a tournament setting, certain characters fair better throughout the pools due to consistency issues, utility, and adaptability. I think a few characters do that better than him in the tier beneath him.
