UMVC3 SRK Tier List/Theory Discussion. (NEW THREAD NOW AVAILABLE)

I would like to know why you think that Viewtiful Joe is that bad.

Nemesis 3 streaming now. Some of the best players from canada are here, RDK, Nickcam, Joker, Smokey, ETC. If u ain’t got nothin to do, check it out.

Tourney starting in a bit

I’ve never really seen any high-level Joe play. Some of his tools are pretty good, but there’s nothing that really stands out. Actually, I’d probably place him at the top of D tier, or I might make a C- tier just for him. He’s definitely better than Tron and Hsien-Ko, but I think he’s worse than the likes of Iron Fist and Ghost Rider.

This Zero on stream needs to learn some better hit confirms to stop killing my braincells.

Actually, that’s Steb isn’t it?

…I stand by what I said.

I feel like that’s some of the problem with a lot of characters: people just haven’t seen them played at a higher level. There are a ton of characters who have never gotten any real high-level play. Dieminion kind of turned everyone’s opinion of Joe around, so it’s possible that someone else will come along and do the same with a different character, I guess.

Now I’m curious. I’m not familiar with Dieminion; care to link me to some good match videos of him?

EDIT: I’m watching this at the moment: His Voomerang zoning is really impressive, although to be fair, it was mostly against Iron Fist.

Does Kevin’s Joe do anything besides spam Voomerang? Serious question.

Been playing Thor/Nova/Skrull recently… yeah. Mighty Tornado / Inferno / Supernova is pretty gdlk.

box dash j. S

gdlk.

Jwongs Nova made my eyes hurt… and not in a good way. He makes Iron Fist look a lot better than he is though.

I feel like Iron Fist is generally an easier to play character than Nova any ways. J.Wong tends to go for characters that are just ideally strong in one spot or just have really quick ways to open you up when they get within one spot. I remember he played X-23 during the team tournament at Seasons Beatings (after being inspired from another local 23 player that was there that almost beat Mike Ross). Of course it was pretty eye gouge bad.

Iron Fist really doesn’t need that much mix up because if he gets within point blank range of you he’s effectively auto frame trapped you down already. Especially with Akuma assist. This is combined with how he’s basically a ā€œdon’t get hit unless you like dyingā€ character. The struggle to get Iron Fist in is the toughest part but he wouldn’t have won a major with Iron Fist unless Iron Fist shits on you once he gets in.

You know, sometimes it seems almost contemptuous, in a way… Jwong throws in characters he doesn’t really know at all in comp, seemingly on a whim, its kind of like dogging it but not really, like ā€˜I’ could win if I wanted, lets try something new’.

Yeah, I was mostly just amazed at how often he actually managed to get somebody stuck in a position where IF could even do a mixup.

That said, none of IF’s mixup isn’t reachable, so I would put the blame more on Dieminion for not blocking the overhead, not that it’s particularly easy to react to or anything, but it is possible.

One of the reasons I find Nemesis under-rated is that his rocket projectile has massive durability, and while he’s vulnerable, he has one of the highest life values in the game. It also has soft-kd. People really under-estimate the big bastards assists, his ground and wall bounce assists are really good as well.

I thought his rockets actually didnt have that great of durability… could be wrong. Yea his health is one of the highest but he is still 1 touch, 1 mixup (which is easy to do on the big bastard), 2 combos and dead. His assists are not that great, I have played a couple pretty good Nemesis players and I dont think I have ever been hit by that assist. It is so slow and you see it coming from a mile away.

Um… Nemesis’s Rocket has 1 low durability point…

The closeline is pretty easy to dodge, if the ground bounce is coming you’ll be in a position where you can’t dodge it. The rocket has a certain amount of armour, and it’s actually pretty good on the height it comes as it punishes most jumps pretty severely. Nemesis has a very strong keepaway game due to tentacles/c-throws and armored normals, the armored normals are part of why I don’t feel he’s 1 touch dead, I think people just need to learn to block with him and use the tools he’s got to be effective, not just a punching bag. I’ve seen a very very effective point Nemesis team with Strider and Sentinel on assists.

They blow up easy, but the explosion doesn’t get completely nullified by a lot of things, it still hurts.

The explosion has 10. It essentially nullifies most things, but doesn’t really beat anything.

So, it only kinda does anything if it misses.

…So it still sucks balls.
