UMVC3 Patch/Balance Discussion *NO PATCH...but word is out of possible ALL CAPCOM VS game coming*

Actually, removing the soft knockdown on BK, lowering damage scaling, and moving back the JC point on Siesmo’s are pretty substantial changes.
-Soft Knockdown removes stupid relaunch options that were suposed to be nerfed out of the game in ultimate
-Damage scaling means she won’t average 900k+ combos off any hit
-The JC nerf puts a large gap between a Siesmo and whatever comes next and would make the move much less oppressive.

The other changes were mostly to keep those three from destroying other aspects of the characters gameplan.

I wasn’t crying. The DM teleport is stupid and dorm doesn’t need it. There are lots of things on that list that are exactly that.

Everyone needs to stop assuming that just because someone would remove something, that it obviously means that they suck. Because that is incredibly stupid.

Also, who I do or don’t play has nothing to do with it. So far, the only arguments against it are:
-I suck (nothing to do with anything)
-Dorms needs it (which is bullshit)

I just want Thor and Strange to be as good as Zero. Is that too much to ask?

Hmmm… im not going to lie and say this game is balanced its not, so here are my wishes

Buff Dante’s damage a bit not much but just more than it is now. i cant bold cancel i cant ever seem to get it right, bit i will be the first to say people who want dantes vanilla hit-stun back just dont know how to bold cancel because bold canceling makes him stupid good especially if you can force a ground bounce from sky dance to beehive and for those who haven’t tried you can tiger knee into lighting bolts twice then into a vortex after a hard knock down since ligning bolts do OTG not to mention you can set u some pretty combos that actually make acid rain OTG

Buff ammy, shes not bad but i think she deserves some new tech. Her jS should be a hard knock down if they gave her that i could see her doing wolverine mission 10 combos mid screen, the problem with doing them now is the opponent gets juggled to high to do anything after 2 reps and it just doesnt do as much damage as just mashing HHHHHHHHHHH into launcher.

Cold Star H should OTG and it would be nice if it was Air OK since she already jumps into the air to do it. cL should otg similar to Toy touch and her sword dive should OTG similar to samurai edge this one may be a bit tricky since i can see some corner infinites if they allowed this so ill say it will be nice, but mainly just th cL OTG

increased range and hit stun on jH (Rosary stance)

also her jQCF should be cancel-able on hit or on block because her L and M versions of that move are so worthless

Virgil i love you baby but you are going to have t take some nerfs his helm breaker should have less recovery since you can teleport out of it anyways so the point here is, if your too stupid to teleport you deserve to be hit.besides that hes fine really hes annoying to fight but hes not wesker.

weskers glasses mechanic needs to be REVERSED. we all know his glasses take a while to put back on so here’s how it should work, while his glasses are on he receives the full boost but as they break or removed by using his lv1, they his speed and damage should be reduced, that way you have to risk a taunt to get that extra damage boost besides that give him only 2 air teleports

Give me tron back, i dont main her but her jH nerf was not needed, anyone with a brain could easily stop it in vanilla, all she needed was gustaff fire assist nerf especially if damage scaling got changes anyways

dooms foot dive unteachable needs to be reduced and fucking hell if i hit Dr doom hidden missiles should disappear, do you know how many pro players i DESTROYED by mashing hidden missiles assist and shooting a fast beam across the screen, its ridiculous. the funny thing about that too is i cant use doom to dave my life but i can throw him on a team and always doom loads better just because you cant risk it

besides that nothing much esle, i guess ill throw a bone to all those lei lei players and say but besides that yeah.

thor is very good! zero is just TOO good which reminds me he shouldn’t be able to link so many busters in one combo, the hit stun on that needs to change so it eventually causes a soft knock down

If Capcom is truly committed to making Hsien-Ko an assist character, nothing more than a sick joke, she needs:

1st and foremost I don’t think the game should be touched again as far as balance goes. After watching ETC the game is looking more and more like mvc2. People are getting use to gimmicks and learning to block and do smart and safe things. Also 3/5 is perfect for this game because of the damage.

now with that said;

Dorm is fine, he’s a perfect balance of zoning and a bit of pressure. He reminds me of a weaker Super turbo Sim.

The more I think about the nerfs and buffs they gave the more they all make sense, the only one that really makes me go how could you not have seen this coming…is the zero buff.

I always see buffs are important to make tools preform as intended even on strong characters. There’s no reason for shitty moves.

To those talking about TACs, please don’t make tacs guaranteed at the cost of a meter without severely nerfing them, especially if you also take away the meter gain/steal. That would make x/modok or doom or chun/pheonix godlike. Tacs need to be nerfed somehow, like you need to increase the break window, lose red life of the incoming character, lose red life and be able to be comboed on a break AND cost a meter.

I only like TAC as an offensive way to tag out without DHC. Its interesting in that aspect.

Good post except this. Break window? You’re going to be mashing back, up-back, or down-back regardless, the window is kind of irrelevant isn’t it? Also, losing red life on an incoming character seems kind of absurd, but I can’t give a better argument than “it’s silly”.

he means that the window should be relocated so that you can actually break the fucking thing on reaction instead of being forced to a 33/33/33 guess.

What about the TAC counter from the early builds?

Something absurd I forgot to mention earlier is Arthur’s armor breaking off and causing a knockdown. It’s cute and nostalgic, I guess, but… why? Just have him revert back to normal armor once King’s runs out.

A normal dash would help out immensely, too. He dashes in his more recent games, so why not include it?

Oddly enough, I’m more confident about these changes positively affecting his game and the metagame than I am about the Hsien-Ko changes I’d like to see experimented with.

So much bitching about me suggesting that Dorm lose his 6C cancel and no one mentions the actual controversial parts of my list, such as the Iron Man, Ghost Rider, Nova, Viper ideas. Or my lack of PW buffs.

I would recommend TAC cost meter, and HSD resets. Now HSD is ignored post-TAC. That would make it a way to safe tag for 1 bar, and it could be an interesting alternative to DHC’s for some characters.

I’d also consider merging meter gain post meter use.

So after a hyper, TAC, Alpha, or EX, you don’t build meter as quickly for a brief period.

I think TAC’s would be definitely be alot better if they indeed cost a bar and lost the “No HSD until you hit the floor thing”. I love those awesome TAC combos as much as anyone else. But i think just pretty much neutering them is the better decision for making a healthier game.

I’m not bitching :slight_smile: I think the Viper nerfs are alright, i can’t comment on the rest since i don’t play them. But why no buffs to PW? Not even bring back his invincible assist? Or is there some secret tech regarding him we don’t know about

How about this: TAC should be punishable if you counter it and have x factor available (or under specific situations like if you can air hyper and DHC into hail storm). No other changes.
No other combo in the game gives you the 33% chance of escape.

Not you, but a lot of people insulted me for even suggesting it.

Viper, the nerf would increase the time between a Seismo and an action, providing a bigger gap in Seismo tricks and making it slightly more punishable.

As for PW. He is a character who’s strength or weakness is based on random chance. If I had my way, I would delete him, but if a character must rely on luck, it’s better he suck than be good.
