Perhaps Foot Dive should not be super negative on block (perhaps -2 for air throw punish only)

Zero’s pressure game being entirely safe and the fact that you can string multiple full-screen crossups into it is really the only problem with him. I have no problem with meter positive ToDs that even a lot of pros drop somewhat regularly.

Vergil is…I don’t know what to say. People get way too salty over a character who takes a hit like a wet paper bag and whose EVERY move is punishable on whiff OR block, save for judgment cut and round trip. Sure, with 5 bars he can kill even Thor in one combo. So can Sentinel. Welcome to Marvel.

Air throws are fine, with the exception of short tech windows and some characters having silly throw ranges that generally don’t even “fit” for a lot of the characters that have them.
-
The only fix TACs need is to maybe add a little bit more risk to them, considering they extend your combo AND affect meter either positively for you or negatively for your opponent. Or just take out up-TAC and make it a 50/50 instead of a 1 in 3 for the guessing game. I don’t like the mechanic, but it’s not gamebreaking even as is.

I’m assuming you, like everyone else who hates teleports, hate teleports because of their synergy with horizontal assists and how conducive they are to setting up really easy mixups. If so you must weep deliciously salty tears when someone uses a lockdown assist to high-low you 3 or 4 times in 3 seconds.
Even as a Doom player, I can dig that. Even if just to get people to stop bitching about S-Dive.
I thought this at first, but honestly personally speaking I really don’t care. For me its not the characters, its the play-styles if you catch my drift. S’long as the characters in the game each bring something interesting and unique id be alright, like tvc for example, I was feeling that game despite not knowing like 80 percent of the tatsunoko characters and even some of the capcom characters. With that said I would miss sentinel, dudes my hommie, but he prolly wasn’t gonna make it into marvel 4 anyway so yea.
Ok, that makes much more sense, but in general I just think foot dive isn’t as bad as people make it out to be. I mean considering dooms j.:h: is an awful airthrow option select dude needs something to deter people from just dancing underneath him and trying to airthrow his ass.
People defending Zero, Vergil, air throws and teleports. Lol. Paper bag health means fuck all in this game when your buttons/abilities beat nearly everyone else’s buttons/abilities. Whatever though, it is what it is, and this game will never be patched; people will just have to accept the extremely effective easy mode characters/mixups. Don’t ever take this game seriously (especially online), just shrug and roll with it.
Yeah don’t take this game seriously like those guys at the tournaments.
Vergil has plenty of ways to keep himself safe with an assist or with meter. When he’s in Devil Trigger he can whiff all he wants also.
I probably should have restructured my question. Which would be, explain how Vergil, Zero, TACs, and air throws make this game better overall, as opposed to those things not being as powerful as they are. I realize this game will never be patched and its all hypothetical but I really don’t think you can defend those things as strengths of this game. No other characters in the game suck the enjoyment completely out of the game faster than Vergil or Zero. I love people finding TOD teams, grimey mixups, and watching Chris G shit on people with Morrigan and missiles. That’s all fine and dandy and good shit to people playing the game optimally. What I don’t like is characters where I feel like I’m fighting against the engine’s mechanics and not actual footsies or mixups, which is how I feel when I fight Zero or Vergil. Lighting Loops and Spiral Swords will always feel like things that are good just because they are good, and there is not much you can do to really stop them when those characters are played at maximum potential. Which is really the way I’ll always feel, and I would think more people probably feel that way then are willing to admit.
Oops, let me rephrase my previous statement:
Don’t take this game seriously if you don’t go to tournaments, since everyone that purchases and plays this game (or any competitive game) go to tournaments. Tournament players also account for a majority of game sales, so companies definitely depend on them the most, over the casual and intermediate consumer.
This is all personal opinion. There’s no way to “prove you wrong” because anything else said to contrast this post would also be an opinion. Please make sure to qualify that when you write posts like these.
You are right. It is a personal opinion and you can’t objectively say one way or the other those things make the game better or worse. But its an opinion I feel pretty strongly about, and I know I’m not alone.
This is inherently untrue. Even if every single player on this and other FGC forums, who view streams, and who attend tournaments bought a copy of this (or any other) game, we would still be dwarfed by the casual gamer. We would, at most, get a few tens of thousands of copies sold. The casual gamer is much more numerous (you really thing the millions of sales of SF4 was just because of the FGC?) and thus has much more power with their buying dollar.
They take us into advisement, but we are not the ones they care most about.
I don’t like this game as much as I did Marvel 2, but this game is fine as is except for some minor tweaks I would make. I’m not alone in that opinion, either. The only thing you and I will agree on is that nothing will be done to this game. I’ll still play it whenever I can, but will you?
The post you were replying to was 110% sarcasm bro.
Probably, because I think in spite of its problems its a really fun and rewarding game.
Without a  smiley or some intelligent writing I can’t tell what’s sarcasm on the Internet.
I’m with you completely. I feel like there are characters and, more importantly, circumstances that force you to fight the game engine and not the character which I don’t feel when playing other fighting games. I’m fine with the nuttiness that is UMVC3, but I’d like to feel like I am always in control. But when a character’s attack prevents me from accurately teching a throw, or a teleport happens faster than the game can correct my characters orientation due to an assist happening at the same time from another angle, I don’t feel like I"m in control. Thus, these detriments make the game feel less competitive overall.
And Raz0r? This is all opinion. Including what you post, so relax on being the first one to poo poo new ideas or discussions, bro bro.
My posts are educated opinions and well-known facts. my posts are worth their weight in gold.
The only difference between recovery and remaining active is an active hitbox. When you cancel any move such as a normal to a special off the 1st active frame connecting, you gain the advantage of recovery + remaining active frames. Right now if I do s.:h: with X-23 and feint cancel, she gets +22 on hit which allows you to combos s.:h: into itself. But certain limitations make this not worth it beyond a few reps. If I could do this with slices she’s be beyond broke unless a lock was put on when she could cancel specific only to that case. Either way I don’t see why this is necessary.
As much as I’d like to be hopeful, “That certainly sounds interesting there” could mean one of two things:
“Hey guys, look at this - maybe there’s something to this.”
“Haha, you think you know something? How cute.”
Lupinko said something intentionally ambiguous. If he wanted to say what was up, he would have. I’m not saying that there isn’t an all Capcom vs. game in the works, but expectations should be kept in check.
Well you got a point firstly because Lupinko wasn’t the one that actually said anything about the game. It was another guy and then he just made a comment.
Like with anything in the video game world…there’s a chance it won’t happen…but I’m just putting the word out there for those that don’t already know. It at least starts to clear up why the few people who still prayed UMVC3 would get patched isn’t getting patched.
I honestly don’t really care that much yet since I already like this game as it is and other games like Skullgirls and the possible Darkstalkers 4. If it’s real though (considering it’s from a source that usually isn’t wrong)…I’ll be looking into it. It better be just about as cheap too. No making assists super weak so it’s like 3 on 3 TVC. Just make it so certain things require more work to be cheap or have more consequences when used improperly.
I imagine they’re going to do away with invincible assists again if they do do something like that…but maybe it’s for the best since their new engine isn’t really designed for invincible assists to be utilized in a smart manner.
Just putting it out there is all.
I understand entirely.
I mean, Lupinko could just be laughing at the guy for saying that Capcom doesn’t want to touch Marvel anymore, and that’s the entirety of his post.
I am Capcom. Since when have I ever made sense?
