UMVC3 Patch/Balance Discussion *NO PATCH...but word is out of possible ALL CAPCOM VS game coming*

I don’t think the SF 25th “surprise” will be a CapvCap game, but a SFIV update (awesome.) Captivate will be a fighting game swag fest in 2013 with new Darkstalkers (50 percent likely) and CvC (80 percent likely) being announced. DS might have another year before being announced but I hope not.

you can’t dive kick these math skillz! Don’t bring up Capcom logic here! table flippy

Its most likely going to be a SF4 update.

I agree that air moves shouldnt ground bounce. I also don’t think Frank’s fucking ax or any other characters moves for that matter should ground bounce that high. Shit looks stupid and out of place. Magnetos shockwave needs a max height instead of being full screen and though its been brought up I still think DP assist need invincibility.

20 bucks says CvC is a handheld/WiiU game.

I have no set plan for SFIV series update. Now I’m just collecting opinion from SFIV players. I dont have time until finishing SxT and DSR.

Thank you for all the requests as of late, but I am sorry to say that there is nothing new in the works for UMVC3 at this time.

A new MvC sequel means he’s not lying about UMVC3 not getting an update…
Regular Marvel vs Capcom 3 didnt recieve anymore updates either… cause a new game in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 was in the works…

Just read a couple things on this page but I saw that capcom no longer has the marvel license. Does that mean this is the last MvC game? That will suck if it’s the case. A CvC game just wouldn’t be the same because for me, capcom characters just aren’t as interesting and it would kill the diversity of the cast.

Bar a few characters, I only play marvel characters. I love me some 8 way dashes.

It wouldn’t be hard for them to make a mag clone with a capcom character model that makes sense. For instance bison powers down when he fights the roster in sf to keep thinks interesting for himself. Imagine a bison that doesn’t power down with an 8 air dash, flight, and dash cancelable jump normals and all the purple psycho energy projectiles you could think of call him shin bison and he fights with the motha fucking cape on.

Yeah they’ve already shown that they can give Capcom characters 8 way air dashes in with their own trajectories, speed and moves list and make it work. People are used to previous Marvel games making mostly the Marvel cast capable of that stuff. Which led to the MVC2 people who can fly owning up everyone else. Long as Viper and Dante come back that’s all I care about. The only Marvel characters I really liked were Psylocke and Doom and of course Doom was the only one that came back.

It’s kinda funny how I was originally set on playing Viper, Doom and Dante before MVC3 even came out…and then 2 years later after the update I end up settling with them for my main team. Guess it does work out that you can pick who you like.

For now…yeah. Part of the reason they never made MVC3 a long while before was due to losing the Marvel license also. Companies pick up and lose the license all the time so it’s just a matter of when.
I’m kinda done with seeing the Marvel license be the only license that sets up this type of fighting game. Skullgirls is literally the only other marketed IP that allows you to play fighting games with these type of open ended character and assist selection options.

** More games should let you do the 3 on 3 tag in assists thing and maybe it’ll take not forcing the Marvel license onto the concept to get the ball rolling. ** Assists and tagging between 3 people just creates a lot of new variables that you can’t get in other games. It really makes other games boring for me to watch and play now. I literally play this game and Skullgirls everyday going “why are these the only 2 games doing this?”

Dawg I love Firebrand but 925,000 is too much life for a character like that.

Morrigan says otherwise

I blame it on Airborne… shrug

Someone said something like this in another thread, and I’ve been doing some looking around but could never find a solid answer. All I could really find as a result of my research is that ‘Capcom can’t release a sequel to this game because they lost the Marvel license’ and stuff along those lines which is fine because I don’t think that’s what we’re looking for right now. Aside from that, everything else I found as far as responses were completely ambiguous and I have no idea what’s up, so could someone just give a solid answer to the quote…? -___-

Firebrand is fine the way he is. If you want a buff people can swallow, just give him a little bit of a damage buff. That’s all he needs, really. You guys shouldn’t be throwing out that S out of nowhere anyway. Hit confirm before hitting that button.

Because you can only get 2 of the following 3: Balance, a large roster, and deep gameplay.

you can get all three. 3v3 is just complicated to balance and it doesnt help that the players like to make assumptions over balance way before tech is explored. Really MvC is pretty good with a few characters needing buffs and only a few nerfs in place. The way X-factor is done can definitely be done better, but overall it does a great job, people just focus on the explosive nature of it.

More like because people just like doing the old grind when developing fighting games. Not much else other than that.

Skullgirls only has 8 people and it works pretty good. Especially with the option to choose how many characters you want.

Balance is I don’t know. Every game that tries to balance ends up with characters that should get played more regardless. Long as everyone has their own way to be a threat and not just something that’s easily brushed off or takes forever to kill you that’s good enough.

LOL, not true in the slightest.

Here are some #'s for you.

there are what 74,000 members on SRK? Add a few more that come here but don’t register and we’ll even add in eventhubs members and Unity members and I’ll be SUPER generous and say that’s around 150,000 people.

No matter how you look at it that is very insignificant in terms of buying power. Even if all 150,000 people bought every fighting game that came out it still wouldn’t matter. Also, most people don’t buy every fighting game, so the #'s will be lower than that, out of just this sample of potential buyers.

So, for example, if a game sold 1,000,000 copies, only about 100,000 of those would be from “hardcore” fighting fans as we know.
