I’m fairly certain Capcom didn’t have meter positive sword loops in mind for Vergil.
Not really…
Look if Vanilla MVC3/MVC1/MVC2/Unpatched SG should teach people a good lesson, and that is invincible assist will ALWAYS be stupid. Invincible assist in this game should not happen regular means.
-
They were too easy to confirm. In game where Magneto can confirm from anything, and Zero do the same thing to death…it’s not wise to give them something as possible as a invincible assist. The biggest problem I have this game how character are able to convert combos from ridiculous places.
-
It makes it impossible to approach or even attack disjointed hitbox(Remember Dante+Haggar or Zero/Tron? I take Ultimate Zero over that nonsense) character . You think Vergil+Mag is retarded, Vergil+ Vanilla Tron would be worse.
-
The fact that the 8ighting STILL refuses to make sure that your assist doesn’t come out if you get hit is stupid.
-
Not to mention you call invincble assist on wake up…No oki for you.
Just nerf the top tier teleporter, and nerf Magneto’s beam/Jam Session/etc so that the oppotent have more time to react to shit. I was annoyed when 8ighting believe that airdashers in Vanilla had mixups worse than Teleporters. Invincible Assist are just too good to exist in this game, not when Vergil/Zero could be literally unapporachable with a panic button.
I only have two questions for Vergil players:
- What is your favorite flavor of Mountain Dew?
- What is your favorite Snoop Dog album?
I once Hammered through the fabric of space time.
If this guy plays UMVC3 I’m sure he plays Vergil.

He’s upgraded to Doom Missiles and someone with a beam assist. He’ll drop in on stream lobbies and dominate the the same shenanigans.
Nope, Vergil is his 10th most used character, he’s used him 610 times in total. For comparison he’s used Doctor Doom 11 283 times.
I don’t get all of you. I haven’t since Vanilla, really. So what if a character is easy to play and puts out great results? Why would you make it harder on yourself and pick an execution-heavy character and struggle to win? Should all characters require high-level execution? If that’s what you want, why aren’t you guys playing any of the Guilty Gear games? And if a character is easy to play with, why should the character not be great?
I just don’t understand why low-execution/high-results characters are looked down on. Sentinel in Marvel 2 was pretty fucking easy to use and he was tops. Magneto/Storm were harder but they were still tops.
People always look for excuses to soothe their ego. Pay it no mind. I just laugh and make stupid jokes along with them.
Sentinel was easy in MVC2? Are you kidding? You had to learn how to refly/unfly and all the High-Toptiers gave him trouble.Cable DESTROYED Sentinel and magneto could kill sentinel easily because of his speed, nearly every character had an infinite on sent.If anyone’s had a tough gaming life its sent
Sentinel is pretty easy. How long did it take you to learn unfly? If your answer is anything longer than 20 seconds, you probably weren’t familiar with the game. It’s just getting hit out of fly mode by a non-flyscreen hit and you have five times where you can unfly during your fly and get an extra action. Cable could be dealt with if you stayed on top of him. Sanford did this all the time and others quickly followed. Cable can’t do shit to you unless you stay in front of him. Magneto was just hard for anyone to block, not just Sent. If he caught you on the ground you had a guessing game at wakeup.
Are you asking why people aren’t happy with the game as it is competitively and are suggesting balance changes in a thread that says “discuss balance changes”?
None of what I asked has anything to do with balance. Do you want me to simplify the post for you? To be honest it’s pretty simple as it is and I don’t know if I can phrase it differently.
If you want to speak balance, the only character I think has a more favorable lean in this game I’m going with Zero. That’s it. Every character can be dealt with using counter-picks but people would rather a nerf so they can use the characters they want to instead of adapting and using someone else.
Your post was simple, albeit out of place. A balance thread is the place where people go to do all the things you take issue with.
You think balance should form around the best characters in the game? How is that balanced? There’s so much potential in the low tier, but they’ll never be used outside fans because they’re not viable competitively. Why propose the MvC2 solution of “pick top tier” in the age of patches and updates?
Hrm, did you not read the posts that preceded my own? The posts were talking about easy execution and hard execution characters. I wasn’t going to quote them all because anyone could just scroll up and read them. You also haven’t answered so I’m not sure why you’re responding to me.
And where did I say pick top tier? Even though I do believe that, I never said in any of these posts to choose top tiers. I said choose characters that counter your opponent’s character instead of sticking to your team no matter the situation. If you’re not going to answer anything I’ve asked and make up posts I didn’t write, you are wasting my time. I don’t have the patience to teach you how a conversation on a message board should be conducted.
nice high horse
pfff fine:
Did you feel the same way about Original Sentinel?
I could get into character loyalty, or being able to choose, or not being machines, but ultimately there’s 50 characters so why limit yourself to 3?
The better question is why have such a great game be held back by having only a 1/3 of the cast competitive?
I think you’re missing the point with Vergil. He’s imbalanced and can do so much for so little. If he was just good, there wouldn’t be nearly as many complaints. Who in Ultimate is a hard counter to Vergil?
When you say “Pick a counter to” the best character in the game, what choice are you left with but the choice you concede you believe in? You’re hard press to accuse me of making up posts you said when you make a statement that can only have one meaning.
no more updates no patches the game is done as is, which im rather sad about, and it kinda took my thunder to hear that. I really wanted more characters and balancing, just thought i would vent
It’s the downside to the current model. Keep updating and fixing a game… Until it stops being profitable. Then, regardless of what state it’s in, let it die.
Sounds the same as the arcade model of before expect you don’t have to buy a new board.
