But…he’s Thor.
AvariceX next to Duck Strong’s suggestions I probably like yours the best. Really good/well thought out list.
You guys are so mean.
I think removing the frame-determines-item Anki Hou system and reworking the bombs so they don’t screw you over should take precedence over longer Gong range.
Though while I’m at it, I’d be interested in seeing the effects of two changes to the Gongs:
[]Gong assist actually activates in front of your point character, and perhaps is changed to the version. It’s useless now.
[]Make it actually reflect consistently. Sometimes, stuff like Wesker’s bullet goes through the Gong for seemingly no reason. Maybe make it reflect more projectiles while we’re at it, though this would mean changing Ammy’s and Task’s reflectors as well.
What’s up with ya’ll want to add ground tech to grapple? If I had to guess, it seems like that is actually the Capcom intended function of the move because it has 0 utility otherwise.
I’ll second that.
Man, you guys won’t let Dante have anything lol.
I think Thor really doesn’t need too many changes to make him more viable.
Decrease recovery of light normals to reasonable levels. Right now its out of control. Make them -1 at worst.Bi assume capon did this so he could tick people by canceling the long recovery but it’s pretty obvious that kind of setup is two steps up from useless.
Get rid of lag on air dash db and down + normal. Combined with better recovering low it would make his high low game better.
Give him air normals that hit low profile normals. Preferably jump.l. This increase in hitbox most likely will make cross up tridash l harder but oh well!
Increase vertical grab range for air command grab. I swear the grab box especially below him is tiny.
Make mighty smash l useful for something. I like the idea of it going no where but recovering almost as soon as he hits the ground. Thors other specials are all pretty useful so why not this one.
I’m probably missing a few things but I think alot of these changes would not change him much just fix some annoyances. Sword guys would still be hard as shit but better mixups when locking down would be helpful.
Thor changes I’d like to see:
Buff his ground normals a little bit. I figured they at least had disjointed hitboxes, but I got stuffed out of cr.:h: a bunch of times the other day. So hammer normals != sword normals. Right now they are just a complete liability. You don’t need to add armor, just make them a little faster and remove odd properties like extra pushback (st. :looney:) that no other characters have to deal with.
Make Mighty Thunder useful in some way shape or form. Reduce the startup or give it some invincibility so you can at least try to pick ppl out of the air with it. Make it hit more than 4 times; getting only 1 hit from it really sucks. Give it much better recovery/pushback/chip potential/improve the block stun at the end or something. Right now it is easily one of the worst supers in the game. Fun fact, it was even worse in the Beta builds.
Maybe make his j. and j.:s: a little faster. I know they’re slow because Thor’s damage potential would be kinda ridiculous for little effort if he could easily get 2 full air chains into super, but it wouldn’t be that broken. Improving the speed of j.:s: would also help him hit those low profile moves that give him a little trouble.
Make the starting and ending animation for Mighty speech a little faster so that it cuts back noticeable frames on special moves when you cancel into it. The move is mostly useless right now and just for trolling.
Give :l: Mighty Smash some kind of special propery or extremely + frames on block; right now it’s mostly window dressing. The other versions have uses so I’m ok with the way they are.
Decrease the recovery on whiffed command grabs (maybe asking too much?). I don’t see why a supposed dedicated grappler should have that much lag whereas Wesker gets away scott free for fucking up all the time.
Nice to see we are in similar places. I thought of thunder changes but I figured it was to much to ask to change a super. That thing is pretty ass
Having Proton Cannon’s last hit soft knockdown is probably the best way to make the hyper not shit.
I like most of your suggestions, but guaranteed TAC’s would be so broken unless you make them cost like 3 bars. A lot of characters can build more than one bar post TAC and do more than 300k damage without blowing super. Unbreakable TAC’s would be horrible unless you get rid of the hitstun reset (which I think is the biggest problem as much as people love the “swag” combos  ) The hitstun reset is only there so that Little Johnny Xbox Live can feel like a superstar when his uncoordinated little fingers awkwardly mash out that abcs combo with the next character; they obviously didn’t give much thought to how abusive that mechanic really is in the right hands. With my shitty ass Thor team, I can start a combo with Doom and TAC to Thor and get over 1.1 million damage meterless, well over 1.25 if I TAC to a third character after all that while building a minimum of 4 bars (5 if I use a down exchange).
How would y’all feel about some mechanics from tvc like baroque in place of x-factor and tac changing to being guaranteed at the cost of meter.
Why not just play TvC? As much as I love TvC, I wouldn’t try too hard to change Marvel into a copy of it. At this point XF and TAC’s are something that we’ve come to know and deal with.
i would play tvc if i had a wii lol. but in all serious i was just asking a simple question i have no problems with xfactor and tacs i just think they need a little tweaking imo.
It’s a minor point. All the hits prior to the final hit are soft KD’s, so you have to just DHC a tad early. It doesn’t rally cost you that much damage.
I think making it safe on block is the way to go, especially given it’s other drawbacks. This would greatly increase IM’s value as an assist character.
Iron Man having a safe DHC in?
Yes.
Fuck yes.
Yep. It’s perfect for the type of character Iron Man is.
Hell, I’ve thrown him out of many teams because of his awful DHC in.
nah, just make it do shitload of damage as a dhc like in mvc2.
afaik, the proton cannon was useless in almost every game its in except mvc2 due to the frame kill dhc.
Interesting changes in here, I like the sound of a lot of them!
No XFC is really interesting to me, as it allows people to be chipped out and for them to have to fight for proper positioning to use xf, etc, versus using while blocking someones offensive attempt. Anyways, selfish character changes:
Dante:
- I really dislike the changes from Vanilla to Ultimate for this dude because of that this would be a long change list so instead here is a short version, revert Dante back to his vanilla self with the following exceptions:
: Double tap change in Ultimate can stay (although I felt that the double motion dante was more gratifying in vanilla)
: cold shower glitch stays gone
: idiot disjointed hit boxes on ground stay gone (maybe look at that s.c one that hits behind him, though it doesn’t seem that bad) and this includes the push back added to his normals in ultimate, take that stuff away lol.
: Hammer can stay as it is now except loosen up the HSD it causes.
: Clay pidgeon combos are still possible but, I’d like to see them return in their vanilla form.
: He can keep SIMILAR damage he does now, maybe a slight boost. I would take the same damage from Ultimate if I had the consistent solo comboability of Old Dante.
: Qcf+l nerf can stay, I hated the marn combo and hate having to use this move in combos now to do any damage with dante haha!
If he did really revert back mostly, definitely address the rebounce glitch. If people feel these changes are too crazy, I am always down for a trade like for the old normals, you have situations like Vergil where if you miss a button you can’t cancel and get killed, whatever. Anything to get back that fun character that was in Vanilla haha!
Iron Fist:
For a character that has to get his work primarily on the ground, he is sure under equipped to do so. What I would like to see to his ground game:
: A true low, preferably 2l but I would take 2m, give him a reasonably ranged low attack.
: Look at his hitbox on his 2h, it seems shallow.
: I would like a rekka option from chi
: possibly an additional rekka option for a total of 4 (combined with the chi having armor this would be really nice buff!)
: maybe give him some addtional frame advantage on his standing normals so that when you do land an aa hit, you could convert consistently. If you want this guy getting work done on the ground, this seems really important.
: Allow him to use his 236S or 214S as stand alone moves as well as usable at any point in the rekka series outside of starting a rekka chain with either or (doing an armored move into a high low mix up LOL). It would be nice to command some respect on the ground vs people who approach at his head height or whatever.
: better comboing ability off of his throws? Little more otg time I guess is what I am asking for.
: Double jump, wall jump does not take a jump option from him. Little air mobility would be nice, this is passive stuff too.
That list seems a bit extreme but, this guy has the worst time converting into solid damage and people run/chip him ALL DAY. These changes would (in theory land) help him to stay in when he finally gets there and convert off most of his hits.
Thor:
: Faster grounded normals, I don’t know if he needs a 4 frame low but wesker has one and a one frame command grab so…yeah lol. Help us give people a reason to not chicken block outside of hail mary Air MH.
: Faster jump M/S
: Slightly sped up mighty spark
: A reason to use the mighty speech special cancel, I would love if it was juggs style in xvs (used his command grab to have better recovery on his normals).
: BUFF THAT MIGHT THUNDER SUPER WTH, Either the 4 hits need to do more or…shit SOMETHING. Make the thunder push back like Mags super.
: Mighty hurricane slight recovery change, make it recovery slightly faster. I mean, look at wesker hahah, it doesnt need to be that good, just slightly better.
I pretty much like thor the way he is right now, just a few small things would make him move up a tier definitely.
… Ok, I’ll play into this.
Magneto: Keep him exactly as he is.
Doom: Remove ground bounce before hardknockdown on j.S, thus reducing the follow-up time on it. Missiles have worse tracking. None of that bullshit about them disappearing on hit. That would make them useless against Magneto, Wesker and many other characters.
Sentinel: 1k-1.1k health and MAYBE give him chipping and :h: . Maybe.
