UMVC3 Patch/Balance Discussion *NO PATCH...but word is out of possible ALL CAPCOM VS game coming*

I still can’t believe this thing has 63(!) frames of startup. And it doesn’t even reach superjump height. I really want to know what their thought process was when they reimagined this move for MVC3.

Frankly I’d be completely fine if they got rid of the hard knockdown on footdive; it was a completely unnecessary buff. He could already combo off footdive by air dashing in Vanilla (for more damage).

As a side benefit, people would stop complaining about a move that they really shouldn’t be getting hit with in the first place, so everyone would be happy except the frauds. But the frauds can go play MK so who cares.

His supers are already some of the least damaging in the game, not sure why you’d want to make them weaker.

Changing his minimum scaling to 10% would fix his retarded damage though.

I doubt this. Despite its flaws, Marvel will always be played more purely from name/brand recognition and reputation. Skullgirls is far too niche for it to take off, whether it’s a more fundamentally-sound game or not. Though who knows; maybe the community will prove theories like mine wrong.

In spite of what I said earlier, I do think a few tweaks would be positive before letting the game head off on its own. Though marvel is a play the best rather than a play your favorites series, elevating some characters so that more favorites could be played would add variety and potentially more oppressive ways to fight, which seems to be what people want. Not a necessary change at all, of course.

My idea for foot dive is to change the minimum height at which he can airdash cancel it.

This would mean that if foot dive was done against a grounded or near grounded opponent he would be stuck in that long recoil animation and be punishable… unless he has assists. But using assist for that kind of thing is ultimately fine in this type of game I think.

That way he could keep the combo’s involving the hard knockdown, and he still had it as a tool to escape some setups and otherwise pester people.

H foot dive should stay as is.

I wouldn’t exactly object to balance changes. I mean it’s always fun to kinda start fresh. That being said, i think the timing is a little off. If you look at Chris G’s team and his success, you begin seeing real strategies being formed beyond a simple, “hey here’s two bs characters and a bs assist lets go win a major” type of team. And I’m really glad he’s been as successful as he has, because soon people are gonna start developing counter strategies to that, and so on. I personally feel like Chris G’s team is one of the first real developments in Marvel 3 and would love to see it explored further. Another player is Marlinpie. I always felt like he was playing a different game with all his guard breaks and crazy mix-ups, and would love to see more players adapt and use more of that kind of tech.

Anyway, if there were to for some reason be a balance patch, the main things I would want to see are

[]General buffs to Sentinel. I love playing him and find him really fun, but he needs more health and more speed on his normals. Honestly I would be willing to sacrifice some damage for faster normals and like 1 million health at least.

]Storm. I feel like they should buff typhoon so it actually does something other than confirms off throws. Its way too slow. Also whirlwind should be more like a beam so its a usable assist. I really serves no purpose now that rapid slash is a thing. She’s still a solid character, I just like her and want her to be better.
[]Firebrand needs more damage. Yes, I do want him to be broken, thank you very much. Also a decent level three.

]Get rid of Zero’s buster cancelling. I have no idea why thats a thing.
[]Somehow make it so people don’t fall out of Haggar’s rapid fire punches. That bugs me. Not really necessary but still.

]Give Iron Fist, Nova, Strange, and Chun low hitting L’s. More so Strange and Iron Fist.

That list was much longer than I expected it to be. I don’t think theres anything too objectionable here really.

They really need to do something to Proton Cannon its such a bad Hyper.

Agreed, this is probably one of the most useless moves in the entire game. Also, many of her normals feel SLOOOW and her damage is laughable.

Just like Sentinel, I’m starting to miss Storm in her MvC2 version (yeah, I miss her old costume too) :frowning:

Sentinel
[+] Add Vanilla hit stun on air Rocket Punch. Gives him his old TAC combos back.
[+] Increase health to 1 mil.

MODOK
[+] Adjust cr.L and st.M so that they don’t miss on crouching characters.

Rocket Raccoon
[-[ Air rocket skates occupy the air special move limit if it didn’t already.
[+] Maximum air Rocket Skates count increased to 2.
[+] Ground and air Gunfire can be canceled into Rocket Skates, as well as the air state from a crossover counter.

Iron Man
[+] Less recovery on diagonal air dashes.
[+] Faster F and B air dashes
[+] Faster ground dash canceling
[+] More hit stun on last hit of Proton Cannon
[+] cr.H missile faster and able to OTG, allowing non-corner follow-ups on Repulsor blast>spread and ground grab.
[-] cr.H missile durability down.

Arthur
[+] Much, much faster walking speed. Give him the fastest walk speed in the game.
[+] When King’s Armor runs out, Arthur is put in massive hit stun instead of getting knocked down if Arthur is neutral. The hit stun can be canceled into a hyper, like Deadpool can cancel his teleport failure into a hyper. If not in neutral when King’s Armor runs out, Arthur gets knocked down as normal.

Zero
[-] Minimum damage scaling for specials reduced to 20%
[-] Buster takes 30f more to charge fully.

Spencer
[-] Minimum damage scaling on up hookshots reduced to 30%

Faster air. S (3-5 frames faster, preferably 3)
Faster air dash at the expense of improving ground dash
more reach on jump light

everything can stay the same, and should stay the same for Iron Man.

for shit’s and giggles, I would like for flight to be more comparable to that of MvC2 Sent.

Question, would Zero be as some of you say “stupid” if buster and lighting did a lot more HSD.

Rocket Raccoon:
Allow Rocket to shoot his gun while in his float
Allow Rocket to charge his spitfire and release big blue shot from his level 1 super.
Mines stay when Rocket is hit.

MODOK:
Adjust hitboxes on c.L and S.M attacks.
Make Level 1 super never scale.
Allow jamming bomb to be done in the air.
Allow shield to be placed in the air.
Take away his air dash limitation.

Nemesis:
Make level 3 Invincible.
Give back hyper armor on punch super.
Lower recovery on command grabs.
Allow for deadly reach to convert to a wall bounce command grab.
Give crouching rocket shot.
Give hyper armor on walk animation. (lol)

Sentinel:
Let drones come out if Sentinel is hit.

Wolverine:
Wolverine heals during berzerker charge.
Swiss cheese cancelleable into any special.

Deadpool:
Make Chimichanga cancel more lenient.
Allow for air teleports to the ground.
Change level 3 to level 1.
New level 3 causes deadpool to start taunting
and healing rapidly whenever the joystick is in
neutral.

Hulk:
Naturally does more damage the more damaged he gets, up to
35% increase.
Taunt gives hyper armor to hulks next attack.

Taskmaster:
Increase damage on special counters.

Haggar: Give pipe toss that causes Dizzy on hit.

Akuma: Give 3rd Strike Level 3.

Okay I’m done, none of this will happen but there we go…

lol what. why are you getting hit by aegis shield in the first place? and task’s arrows are fine, the only thing that could stand a fix is the hitbox on Shield Skills.

Instead about whining about Taskmaster’s only invincible super why don’t you worry about Ghost Rider getting buffs. Also Taskmaster needs meter to confirm off his counters, if you are going to complain about counters, Ammy’s are better than Task’s in every way(active frames + meterless confirm).

  • Severe reduction in fraudulence

I just want Iron Man buffs.

Not that I think he’s even close to top 5 now, but if you completely took away Spencer’s UVG he would barely be mid tier. 50% damage might be ok, but would still hurt his placement a lot.

Lol, Hulk does not need to do more damage.

Marvel is about ridiculous. I’d laugh my ass off if HULK got madder and standing H did like 25% life. More entertaining than watch zero combo for like 40 seconds of my life.

Hulk with Wesker/Lucario style buff? lol

Give his Gamma Wave super invincibilty while they’re at it. He still won’t be as good as Vergil.

Lower his heath to 900~850k
His assists (namingly hidden missiles, but plasma beam is really really good too) should NOT have more health than drones

Raccoon

+more hitstun on all normals
+normal cancel rocket skates
+call assits while floating
+traps don’t dissapear if hit
