UMVC3 Patch/Balance Discussion *NO PATCH...but word is out of possible ALL CAPCOM VS game coming*

I’ll post my thoughts about the only 2 characters I feel like I can speak for:

Chun-Li: Edit priority on her EX SBK to make it so that sword normals can’t stuff it. Also give a bit more invincibility on startup. Finally, I would like for Chun to have 2 airdashes. Pushing L + M would get you her current airdash, while pushing M + H would give you an airdash that travels a bit further. This way she has the tools for her mixups while being able to have an airdash that actually allows her to get in. Yes you can plink her airdashes but that uses up 2 airdashes. If not that suggestion, then something else that allows her to close space faster.

Storm: Slight damage increase. OR being able to call assist from superjump height again. I wouldn’t give her both. Also I’d like her hitbox to be less wonky on her H attacks. I want to do some ROM type stuff with her! She has one ROM combo but because the hitbox is so odd it’s impractical to do in a real match. Or especially online.

That reminds me of how Seth Killian hyped up the new changes to the Vanilla cast of UMvC3 back at last year’s NYCC and guess who was the first character he brought up: Dormammu. It seems like he wanted him to stand out in UMvC3.

I think Seth has a HUGE fetish for both Dormammu and Doom on the Marvel side.

I’m really curious as to why Storm’s special moves are just so bad. Whirlwind would be ok I guess if it wasn’t for the huge startup and recovery, but everything else is terrible. I mean they’ve always been pretty lackluster in all the games she’s been in, but with whiff building and her insane rushdown it didn’t matter so much. But in MVC3 I don’t know what they were thinking. It’s suicide to almost use any of them in neutral.

I’d like a slight damage buff or a fix to her meter building. I don’t need both but I’d take any one of those over anything else I think. Assist call from float would be nice, but I wouldn’t want to be too greedy.

Only buff Storm needs is for whirlwind to be more like a beam.

I’d be fine with that. So long as they don’t nerf anything in exchange. I would like for her whirlwind assist to be H version though. And have her come out from behind the point character.

Also I think her L Lightning Sphere is a pretty good special move for neutral game. Provided there isn’t a Vajra assist or a teleport character.

no. no she does not.

increase charge time for all of taskmasters arrows. REmove ageis sheild from the game…then task master is fine.

At this point, I kind of want to see the game flesh out a little more before stuff starts getting buffed/nerfed. Nothing has really shown up as being too dominant yet, and all kinds of characters are placing in tourneys. That said, I wouldn’t mind a few more characters being added in. No buffs/nerfs to the existing cast, just add a few more new people. Would be an interesting way to add some flavor to the metagame.

I like this. No changes but add new characters in. total roster should be 60. 30 each side.

I do think Iron Man is better than people realize but he’s still low mid tier at best, and his ground dash is ass for no good reason and needs to be fixed. And yes I can plink dash, it has nothing to do with being able to plink dash well and everything to do with it not being cancellable until the 11th frame.

Also for the people whining about this game getting a patch…where were you guys when Capcom updated this game with a new disc release for $40 8 months after the original release? Where were you when Capcom did the SAME THING with Super Street Fighter 4 when it got a $15 expansion update and then another balance patch on top of that? Its 2012, games get patched and updated more than once, this is not the 90s where a new disc release was all you had to change a game. A lot of people are unhappy with the state of this game, and the logic that people that want a patch are scrubs makes no fucking sense. I agree that there were a ton of knee jerk nerfs in vanilla, like Sentinel’s health, but are you people really going to tell me that retarded shit like lighting loops and Vergil spiral swords and Hidden Missile being near impossible to punish because even if you attempt to punish it the missiles bop you on the head and save Doom anyway make this game better? No, it makes it actively worse and a less fun game to play, and nobody is going to stick around and play this when there are so many better alternatives that have good balance and developers working to make sure there isn’t anything retarded that makes their games worse and less fun to play.

tl:dr this game has a ton of problems, and people are going to stop playing this game in droves if its not fixed. Especially when games like Skullgirls exist.

You peoples are on crack if you think no meter build in AV is a fair nerf. She had meter build in vanilla and you all thought she was bottom tier. If it weren’t for chris g, you’d probably still think that now. AV zoning is completely avoidable without missles or strider. It’s obvious she’s only top tier with ONE assist. You all know the real problem is doom, but don’t want him nerfed because theres an 80% chance you use him. I’m not even sure why I waste my time arguing this anymore. I sincerely doubt there will be another balance patch, and even if there is, Capcom rarely makes the changes most people want/expect.

No character should build meter during a state change super. None.

That’s not picking on Morrigan, that’s picking on a stupid and dangerous design decision.

I would like Supers like Tempest, Hail Storm, Million Dollars, etc to be sped up. They last ridiculously long for no reason.

I’m going to turn people complaining how pointless a thread is into a drinking game.

If Capcom nerfs Morrigan instead of adjusting Hidden Missiles it will prove that they are beyond retarded.

Knowing Capcom they’ll remove her Soul Fist completely. They’ll then give Wesker a bunch of buffs and then “compensate” for it by making his S -2 on block

storms typhoon (hcb+p) needs to come out faster. theres no reason it takes 2 centuries to come out.

I don’t know who is worse, the people that don’t want a Marvel 3 rebalance because “it’s too early, let the game develop” or the people that don’t want a Marvel 2/Third Strike rebalance because “it’s too late, we don’t want to relearn the game after all this time”.

Both sides are dumb. If there’s ONE thing that Marvel 3 doesn’t lack, it’s room for improvement. It certainly improved from vanilla and the hype makes it entertaining to watch, but it still has too many design flaws that reward more lazy canned overpowered shit (i.e. Vergil) than raw skill and creativity. It’s still a subpar game.

Ok, Here goes…

Fix IM’s stupid 11 frame dash, and give his smartbombs a slightly longer ark on heavier versions to keep the move from being worthless on the ground exept as an OTG. I mean c’mon, wesker’s gunshot hits low, and that is pretty good…Also, reduce pushback on standing normals or increase his launcher’s range. That would make my day…

NO bad evidence with PW. he should also regain normal health in addition to red health on meat, and he should have evidence that gives him a teleport or something. or you could slighlty nerf something else on him but give him a double jump and a better dash. Ace Attorney should be an instant kill in any level of X-factor.

Remove the hard knockdown on Doom’s Foot dive, lower damage on his supers.

increase Strider’s health by 50k, increase chip from ouroboros (prob not spelled right, srry)

Increase Capcoms commons sense by 330k, nerf their ability to ignore the community by a good amount, and buff the likelyhood of character DLC packs based on community vote. Although the last one might be unlikely, because I doubt that capcom would make themselves that awsome.

Where is that excel sheet when I need? A lot of assists still build meter. They either build meter or retain on tag out.

Morrigan’s does not retain on tag as does spiral swords.

Even the smart and respected people are biased on the changes.
