They only went both ways in Pocket Fighter. Would be nice here, though. Especially if they came out faster (they apparently do now) and they filled more of the screen.
Tempted to post Mr. Creosote from Life of Brian, but don’t feel like it. The thought is there, though.
(Oh, I have to post in the Ultimate Salt thread because of that Arthur comment. Right. That’s what it was.)
Hmm…I suppose I should probably also be proactively looking for the questions I asked rather than being a lazy bastard.
…But…that would take effort. So meh. Later.
Oh, haha. You’re right. I guess I got confused since I’m pretty sure I used Hsien-ko way more in Pocket Fighter than in Vampire Savior–that umbrella super? Busted.–where she’s like…my third least used character after Huitizil and…Victor?
My apologies. But, yeah, it would be nice. I think I’ve literally never used that super in MvC3 outside of that one time you need it for Mission Mode.
i love the otg system in mvc3, but i seriously dont get how do programmers chose which moves otg and which doesn’t.
for example, the dive kicks. only zero and akumas demon flip dive kick otgs yet the others don’t despite it looking aesthetically similar.
another example are otg fireball/fireball supers. doom’s plasma beam otgs, yet his super doesn’t? what gives? and then theres similar moves like trish’s air maximum low voltage that doesnt otg in the last build but does in this one.
Dude, of course they have more potential than her. Captain Commando has solid anti airs, a beam that could be a disruptah clone, good assists, a fuckin’ beam that covers the entire stage from top to bottom, a rushing super that connects for full damage from far as fuck away and a BIONIC ARM like Spencers. Jin would have sick ass hitboxes on his normals in MvC3, he’d be the first character in the game that can summon a gigantic FUCKING MECHA FIST that can blow your entire body up, he has solid anti air potential with those crazy typhoons, he could have a sick gatling gun hyper that puts you in side of a mecha in HD and his level 3 would blow people the fuck up with a typhoon that covers the entire vertical space.
Compare those guys to a character that doesn’t even have mid screen control or a decent fireball game and you have to wonder who would be best for the cast, a bad ass Space Captain with another BIONIC ARM, or a sick ass GUNDAM PILOT WITH SPIKES ON HIS ARMOR.
It’s like comparing the Pichu in Smash Bros to Fox McCloud or Metaknight lol.
Drunken dart game with pictures of the characters on the dartboard.
Note: This game does not come with the necessary pictures of Hsien-Ko, Arthur, Chun Li or Shuma Gorath. Extra pictures of Wesker, Magneto, Dante and Vergil were included to make up for their absence.
Let’s please not dump on Chun-li just because you’re looking at characters that could be with utterly rose-tinted glasses. You’re both loading the deck with them being at their “best” possible translation compared to what Chunners is currently and saying that she’s “taking” their spot because of what could have been…despite the fact that she’s Capcom flagship female character and has literally almost been in every Street Fighter game since she appeared. You could see how this is utterly ridiculous, especially given the changes made to others who were in MvC2 (and MvC1).
There’s nothing to say that they wouldn’t make Captain Commando focus on his assist specials and weaken all his other specials and normals to “accomplish” this. There’s nothing to say that they wouldn’t make Jin’s super tornado strictly an anti-air super (like Spider-man’s Ultimate Web Throw). Hell, there’s nothing to say that he’d even have all three of his normal supers. I wouldn’t be surprised if Blodia appear only in his level three, which was a cinematic combination of Blodia Punch into Blodia Vulcan, and his other two supers were his super tornado–ugh, I can’t remember the name anymore–and his previously desperation-only super mode as a now-anytime accessible hyper mode; that would certainly be a lot easier than animating Blodia a lot in 3D (or a “hatch” screen for Jin in a non-cinematic super) and something I could see Capcom doing, for instance.
So, yeah, let’s please not play theory fighter unless its with characters in the game–woot, Denjin Ryu murders all y’all!–and let’s please not dump on Chun-li because of what other characters, who didn’t even make it into the game, could have been (possibly).
Let’s dump on Chun-li because she sucks. Thanks.
P.S. If you really want to play theory fighter with characters that aren’t in the game, then I could flood your PM box with theoretical character move-lists so detailed and glorious in length that you would weep tears of blood at my creative genius before the end came. I’m always down for typing up a storm and for Eye Scream when it comes to others for which I’ve no attachment.
again, you have no idea what would be good/bad in the game. His hitboxes from his normals/the invincibility of his supers/startup you DO NOT KNOW. You’re just trying to make the characters sound godlike because of what you would want them to be.
I’m not saying that Chun Li doesn’t belong in the game. I’m saying that they are completely wasting a slot by letting her sit there in that terrible state. The bottom four characters are so damned terrible that I don’t even see why Capcom bothered to put them in the game.
Shit, I use Hsien-Ko and I’d have her switched out for a character of my choice seeing as anything is better than her in this game right now.
I’m talking about potential and you can argue all you want about Chun Li being better, but those two sure as hell have a better chance at being good with all those tools. They completely left her to rot and it is a damn shame.
Again… it’s all up to the people and how good they want them to be, they could give chun-li something broken also and then she’d be stupid and people would whine about her, and then all the characters under her and why dont they have this and this also? you talking about potential in these games is completely useless because its up to the people making the game and how they want it. it is not up to fans and how they want their favorite characters to be.
Well, yes, it’s a shame and a waste, but playing theory fighter with characters who perhaps had a better chance of ending up more viable but could have ultimately ended even worse is pretty pointless.
My point was also that if Chun-li does need so much, then make sure to talk purely about that (to Capcom) rather than saying what could have been (with other characters). It will be easier to get to an agreement about what she actually needs/should get if we actually talk about her and maybe get Capcom to see that compared to something absurd like how damn good Jin’s rock hard Asian body would look in his underwear in pseudo-3D. (…No, you’re not getting a “no homo”.)
@Damned…a note on Dante…that rumor has been disconfirmed (AFAIK) about activation supers building meter. None of them build meter.
Dante’s nerfs are pretty fine considering where people are leveling off and the fact that they made DT even better. Hammer invincibility was an unnecessary luxury and I only really throw out naked hammers because that shit is just too good not to. Once it goes away it won’t be too much harder to just poke and space with his other 50 normals and specials and still win matches.
Oh and yeah…Deadpool has the quickest recovering teleport for now. Though that might change since Strange is now supposedly the new quickest recovering teleporter. Which means Strange’s teleport will probably recover in less than 10 frames or something absurd like that.
(Heh. There’s not even a proper update for Ryu in his section. That’s kinda sad…)
Yeah, I’m going to have to ask for clarification too because of what Sixfortyfive said and because I’m pretty sure Denjin mode at least allows Ryu to build meter, so I’ll be really surprised if he ends up the only one when others could.
See above.
Yeah, basically.
I mean, I’m fine with his changes otherwise overall, even with the motions becoming easier. It just seems like Devil Trigger got made (even more) overkill powerful between its new unnecessary boosts and all the other crap it already had. He now basically quashes Chun-li’s mobility and gets a flight mode, further making Chunner’s few usable distinctions not worth a damn; it also gives him more time to heal while running away since few people can reach that high. It just bugs me, really, especially given how little she got and since it’s not like they relegated his teleport to Devil Trigger (like I feel they should), so it’s not something he “needs” to use unlike Virgil (who has to use it to just to access to his Level 3).
I figured as much. I was tempted to amend that with “presently”, but I was just lazy–no surprise there.
There was an unfounded and pretty dumb rumour about how all buff supers could build meter now. None of those that couldn’t in vanilla were changed, while people thought they did, which is what he’s trying to say.
except for the bit of him landing slowly off a empty tri jump , you can cancel his landing animation for that with the added fact it still looks like a overhead I tri dash low people all the time , because people think tony is all overheads
anyways his mobility nerf is what will make or break him , if It’s to severe all his buffs won’t mean much
they said they wanted him different from magneto , but iron man players have had trouble finding his role n now they have he plays NOTHING like magneto ,
he now seems like a slower magneto than he was before lol
Zero is getting buffed into ridiculousness, all my mains are getting better, all the announced characters I liked are all good. Man, UMVC3 is amazing. As if I wasn’t already destroying folks with Zero as is, it’s only gonna get worse. I do fear for his TOD abilities a bit though, jump loop IMO was pretty important for that, and if it doesn’t work, he doesn’t get easy extended combos off like… everything. Also no buster run up OTG+assist from full screen might suck a little but the buffs more than make up for that.
Really though, I’m scared of Vergil… that character…
Yeah I hate Laura. I’ll usually try and put enough distance between her and Hulk to get a :l: Gamma Wave out and make her jump into an air throw. Then I tear her damn head off before she starts eating my knee caps. The extra point of armor on s.:h: is going to help a lot, though I don’t feel it was a needed buff.
As for Hulk’s new move, it’s not unblockable when charged. I asked Jintor to test this. Basically charged does a wall bounce, uncharged does not wall bounce.
It’s a command normal, so you should be able to cancel standard normals such as s.:h: into it I’d assume, as well as special cancel out of it. There has been no confirmation of this yet though as far as I know.
(Hunh. I just realized that at least a quarter of the planned new characters have activation supers already. I wonder if anyone else will.)
Ah, I see. I hadn’t suspected that it was a command normal, but now that I think about it, it’s rather similar to Super Skrull’s Stone Smite (which I’ve never seen anyone use, but at least it has armor now), so that makes sense. Good to know even if not everything is known about it yet (which I didn’t expect it to be considering…the game isn’t out yet).
And, yeah, I didn’t think he needed it either, though I view it as a lesser evil than Sentinel’s super armor buff considering that unlike Hulk, Sentinel got a speed boost to go with that and cr. M hits low & is generally safer/doesn’t need to be canceled to not die. Maybe if Hulk’s s. H magically started hitting overhead (in addition to hitting behind him and bouncing you for like a second) I’d be worried, but, meh, I think the only person who I’ve been messing around with that gets screwed by it is Jill, got screwed over when it was just resisted two hits already, so…
Ah, I thought as much. It was just worded vaguely.
Wait. Are the people complaining about losing TODs with the better characters really not being facetious? Because I swear to X, if Zero (and other previously top tier character) players are going to complain about that with everything else they got, then I’m going to channel Alia and personally troll the hell out of most, if not all, of you.
