Capcom characters look like they got the short end of the stick versus their Marvel counterparts for the most part.

If you were playing a mid to low tier character, yeah there’s a lot of Capcom characters that probably didn’t get buffed enough. Any high/mid top tier character basically just got better or slightly changed but will still be clearly be dominant characters. It’s basically anybody who wasn’t that great didn’t get much better but anyone who was already good basically got better with maybe a couple nerfs to some of their braindead options.

I do believe that’s actually a nerf. IIRC, if you do a raikousen in the corner in Vanilla, you will count as crossing up the opponent, but you won’t go behind them. So now, corner raikousen cross-ups make Zero lose corner combos (which I’m pretty sure are more important for him in Ultimate).

seems like this character hardly got touched with some minor buffs and minor nerfs here and there. good.

He’ll still have the left/right BS in the corner mix up on incoming characters. I suppose this was done as an extra way to nerf raikousen/lightning loop. There’s no real smoking going on since it was already possible in Vanilla AFAIK and it still at least saves you from dying to lightning loop anymore.

Zero will always be more bullshit in Vanilla than he will be in Ultimate IMO but that’s considering other characters were also more BS. Generally he’s going to be harder to hit than he was in Vanilla and that’s going to be problematic still even if he can’t kill you in one combo anymore from the start of the round (hopefully).

Since wesker can’t combo of a GUNSHOT FROM FULL SCREEN…no worrieds here lol…now I don’t have to worry

Yeah Wesker players will actually have to CALL AN ASSIST FIRST to get combos off teleport like the rest of the fucking characters in the game with a teleport/command dash (minus Wolvie). Gun teleport was extremely unsafe against short characters or characters with short wave dashes any way.

The whole point of playing characters with ports/command dashes is to use assists to get combos off of them and give you safe just frame left/rights. Capcom was stupid as hell giving Wesker a teleport that he could combo off of without an assist so I’m glad that’s gone. Everyone else has to place a slow projectile on the screen first or call an assist.

Wolverine still being able to combo without assist is fine since there’s no more invincibility anymore. Zero will still die in one combo so I guess it’s fine for him as a buff.

Oh, no doubt. Zero is still gonna be a stupid little fucknut on incoming characters, but at least he won’t get a 1 meter 1mil combo out of his crap.

Zero kind of lost all of his BNB combos…but he has insanely stupid mix ups now. The fact he can now call assist, cancel his specials will give him insanely godlike mixups in a corner.

I mean look at the new technology…he is a theory sleeping giant…in theory.

Holy shit they actually buffed Wesker what the fuck. 1M health isn’t that bad either.

Who needs TOD combos if you will have tons of openings and reset opportunities with his cancelable specials, anyway?

Also, I’m really curious to see if Zero’s Rekkoha > Devil Trigger bullshit still works. I need this game ASAP. If it does, he still still have 1M damage combos.

I think I am the only person here that is really excited for the increased hitbox of Wesker’s counters. Even though the game is expected to be really strong in zoning, I think this is the best buff for him because now the counters are reliable and are good ways to start combos. More zoning = more counters = more mixups. Sorry haters but I really feel Wesker is even scarier now.

Also Chun buffs FTW!! She is going to be even more combo monster!

So Wesker/???/??? in my new UMvC3?.. Probably mr Vergil and mr Iron Fist will be my other 2 guys…

The counters are really situational to use still being high/mid, low or projectile based. The hit boxes help so you don’t get screwed over anymore for trying one and having the attack follow up miss…but rhino charge will be a better overall counter still IMO. The projectile counter is kinda distance dependent any ways. If you try to use projectile counter from far away you’ll just whiff and get blown up. It won’t do much good against aerial projectiles either. Wesker will still be a good character, just less braindead.

Chun didn’t get anything to help her get in…but self OTG and better lightning legs hit box helps. It sounds like they’re basically trying to turn her into a Rufus style character. Once she gets in you can’t get her off kinda thing. I still don’t see her being better than B tier at the best.

Maybe I’m just confused, but is the Raikousen corner crossup really a combo nerf? In Vanilla moves with significant knockback like Tatsu and Jam Session still knock the opponent into the corner if you crossup with a teleport, so… I don’t see the assist extensions changing for the worse. Am I missing something obvious?

It’s a nerf if you consider how lightning loop allowed him to do self TOD’s…yeah. It creates new things from things that are gone though so yeah…definitely not all nerf there.

Oh haha I keep forgetting about lightning loop. Yeah as Momo was saying if Rekkoha > Devil Trigger is still in, using the same amount of meter to still TOD is still super silly. “Oh no don’t have Zero to mixup the next character but have to use Dante instead. The horror!”
