Gotta agree with Gamogo. Tokido’s is the worst amongst the pros for AA DP. If he had Diago’s AA instinct he would almost be unbeatable.

I think Ryu has the edge in this, basically as strong as Super (if not more on Daigo’s hands, given the fireball buff).
Akuma got toned down because he was clearly so overpowered to crush the game balance, and Ken lost his combo into sweep which set up some nasty okizemes (kara stuff, ambigous crossups etc). Dan keeps getting better…

Geezus. Here’s hoping we see more of Daigo’s elusive Akuma. Better yet, Daigo’s Akuma in AE 2012.
Guaranteed the difference in those results is based on how weak Tokido’s anti air game is vs how good Daigo’s is. In a matchup vs divekickers you absolutely need to be an anti air wall if you want to compete.
IIRC Kazunoko smashed Daigo’s Ryu 25-2 a couple of months ago…
Ken’s sweep goes from 7 frames back to 8 frames in AE2012 which is a massive nerf to his game, the buffs so far while alright don’t come anywhere close to making up for that loss. If they revert that sweep nerf in the final round of changes and keep his new st hk and the quicker feint he will be the top shoto. As of now he’s looking @ 3rd, all due to a frame on 1 move.

Just goes to show how much 1 frame can do to a character. Imagine Akuma with a +6 frame crouching normal. Would instantly make up for all the nerfs imo.
Yep. Recall Killian stating how weak Rufus’ original incarnation during development was until they literally changed a frame or two. He went from being absolute garbage to high tier almost instantly.
Not only that, he would become broken lol. Like literally top tier if he can combo his sweep from cr.mp on non counterhit…imagine that…
Given all the nerfs he got I think he’d still be far from broken.

I would actually rather see Umeharas E.Ryu, considering all the buffs he has been getting, plus Daigo said he liked to rushdown, and he liked shotos right? Don’t see that happening though, E.Ryu seems to be considered a non tourney character still xD
Anyway, I wonder if Daigo is serious about all this stuff, maybe he’s just doing this for a couple of matchups or smth? Considering it’s common knowledge that 1 frame can change the entire meta game of a chracter, it’s hard to think Umehara is not aware of the upcoming nerfs to Akuma and their consequences, which would make him a far worser character then he is (well, at least that’s what most of us think).
Or maybe Umehara knows something that we don’t, like he’s been informed exclusively and in great secrecy by the dev. team directly, that Ono’s just trolling Tokido and other Akuma players and in the final version all the changes that Gouki will recieve is his stun output and roundhouse back to vanilla status, ohhh Daigo, you little sneaky bastard! xDDDDDDDDD
Or maybe Daigo is thinking about using Akuma in a totally different way instead of mixup and pressure based? Us mortals can’t do that, but the beast could win a match by air fireballs, sweeps and DPs lol.

Well it’s clear Daigo hasn’t yet settled on a new main. With Yun getting nerfed and Ryu still having stupid frustrating matchups (Sim, Fei) Daigo needs a character to fit his style and avoid having any horrid matchups. He probably was banking on Akuma to fit that bill but with the proposed nerfs that isn’t looking good anymore.
As pointed out above maybe he should give Evil Ryu a shot?
Well those matchups are bad only if he doesn’t counterpick with Yun. Even then, I don’t think Fei’s that bad with Ryu’s buffs and Fei’s damage nerfs. Sim… yeah, that sucks.
Yet still, I’d love to see him give Evil Ryu a shot.
I would like to see them leave Akuma as he is in AE just so we can see what Daigo does with him.
