Umehara is considering Gouki as his new main

.

Hey now we don’t know who Daigo finally decides on. Could still be Akuma. Although I’d prefer it if he uses Evil Ryu and does some godlike shit with him and leave Tokido to be the Akuma guy.

Akuma still makes a lot of sense to me as a character choice for Daigo. And I heard he wanted to go back to a shoto, and I can’t imagine Ken or Ryu will end up being significantly better than Akuma even with the balance changes. I wonder how he feels about Sagat.

Of course you can’t read too much into it, but that he is competitive with Kazunoko’s Yun already while Tokido just gets wasted by him is pretty solid evidence to me that this could really happen. Daigo could have the undisputed best Akuma in the world in the very near future… or he could just be fucking around until 2012 comes out hahaha. Nothing Daigo does would surprise me, aside from picking like a grappler or Dan.

Some combos from Kuwait matches.

wOW i really hope Daigo uses gouki, amazing choice…Tokido put on notice

He’s using Akuma right now on the stream.

Edit: back to Yun I guess.

people there could pick the character he plays. it just seems like everyone wants to play his yun for some reason.

what stream??

wtf! no one tells us this

Thanks

god these kuwaiti dudes are super free.

If he played Evil Ryu, that would confirm him as my new main as well. The little I’ve played him, I felt very comfortable with. A solid FADC to either Shakunetsu or Metsu (or both at the same time, if you are fancy); solid combos and not as weak as Gouki in terms of life.

If not, another option is Oni or even Gouken. That’s up to him, but I’m thinking Evil Ryu would give us the best of the Daigo Universe.

FADC into Shakunetsu is simply horrendous for both E.Ryu and Akuma.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking too, wasn’t sure how he’d do with a 50/50 mixup type character when he prefers more of a solid aggressive offense.

Not really. If you throw a Shoryuken and include an FADC in case your opponent blocks, but he doesn’t, you can still get some extra pixels of damage with a Shakunetsu. Ryu doesn’t allow that unless you throw his traditional EX Hadoken, which you won’t. At most, you could aim for another Shoryuken, which was close to insignificant. I do understand what you mean, though, that it’s wiser to save your meter for later, instead of wasting it on a mere Shakunetsu.

Yeah, I pretty much agree. I judged the hell out of everyone who did that back in the vanilla days. There have been a few times when I actually won a round with the few pixels of heavily scaled damage added on after a long combo, though, and that’s pretty damn satisfying.

In a recent interview with a guy named Kenzo, Mago revealed that he believes Gouki will be the strongest character in 2012.
Guess Daigo saw this coming as soon ad he read the nerfs.

Daigo talked with Ono about those Akuma changes.

Wat?!

I would like to see a source for this…

Shit, where can I find some footage of Umehara’s Gouki in Kuwait? Would love to see what’s he got. Though if they were as free as some of the guys here are saying, then the video wouldn’t show much I guess. Damn, I would kill for a tape of that Kazunoko vs Daigo set when he used Akuma xD
