Perhaps this is just me coming from a GG Background, But (Again, Don’t get Buttmad) Akuma (And anyone…Really) just isn’t that hard at all to use execution wise so alternating between the two is incredibly easy. I can see people with the same mindset changing from Akuma to Ryu in honesty.
yawn it’s not Akuma’s combos that are hard. Try mastering his huge arsenal of frame perfect setups
You’re high.
It’s quite possible that I was high. But I don’t really disown the comment. Obviously, you don’t WANT to give a ton of EX to Honda or Ryu or even Blanka… But for fuck’s sake, I’m not gonna turn down an opportunity to win a round because of it. “Oh no, I just gave Chun Li 2.5 EX bars… might as well just put the controller down in round three!”
Also, just to clarify, I don’t think JR Rodriguez is better than Tokido at SF4. But he fucking beat the supposed ultimate Akuma master with his own character, two out of three, AT EVO. If you don’t think that shows a tremendous amount of ability and badassery, then I don’t know what to tell you. Also, I think that if JR Rodriguez lived in Tokyo and took SF4 as seriously as he took 3S or as seriously as Tokido has played SF4, he would be just as good as Tokido if not better, and he would certainly still land more demons.
If you like those you should try Gen!
…
Tokido owns JR at both 3s and sf4. US is deep shit at 3s and this makes JR look good at that game. But tokido’s chun can hang with nuki, kokujin, boss, rx and the likes.
Anyways U1 is a lot better than U2. I won’t even waste my time explaining why. And no, it isn’t because of stupid gimmicks like empty jump/flip ultra, lol
U1 = free sweeps. That’s probably the only reason why I prefer it more.
I also forgot his st.LK (6 active frames!) and st.MP (4 frame active) which are great to fight divekicks D:
They ran it back at SoCal Regionals in a Money Match, Tokido won 3-1. I think JR is a great Akuma player, it just puzzles me why he ignores the vortex for max damage instead. If you watch the money match, you can see why Tokido is the better Akuma. He maximizes his opportunities on knockdown and punishes teleport. JR did none of these, and what really helped him keep it close in several rounds(and won some for him) were gimmicky empty jump Demon set ups. I’m not gonna hate on him for that, he landed almost every one of them. But if that’s what he has to rely on to win at high level then you know he can only go so far with it.
As for Daigo using Evil Ryu, with the 2012 buffs I don’t think that would be a bad idea. He has decent mix ups, good at zoning, and can punish hard. Up to him though if he wants to give that character a shot. Either way, I’d like to see him return to a Shoto whether that’d be Akuma, Ryu, Ken, or Evil Ryu(the rest of the so called Shoto’s don’t count).
Daigo to main Sakura. Count on it
Yeah if they give the girl her cvs2 dive kick back
JR plays for fun he isn’t that serious about it. Let’s face it SSF4 isn’t a very fun game when you play it “correctly”.
Good chance. I think Sakura is secretly top tier.
Daigo is such a fanboy of me. I pick Akuma, he thinks of picking Akuma. Now I’m maining Sakura he is. I’m just too godlike it seems.
You’re in every daigo thread and all you do is say the same shit over and over again. Could you please stop trying to demean him? He’s beasted at every game he ever took seriously and probably has the best track record in the history of FGs so just stop. Acknowledging someone’s achievements is not sucking his dick.
Stop riding his cock, and I’ll stop demeaning him.
Btw - I’m sure he cares that you’re defending him against a nobody.
just sayin.
I’m not defending him. Just tired of seeing your hateful posts in every thread where he’s mentioned.
And like I said, acknowledging the truth is not riding his cock. Averting your eyes to the truth because of some unfounded animosity simply makes you sound immature.
How ridiculous would it sound if I said “Meh, Jwong is a great player and all but he didn’t innovate any game he played. If he didn’t win X numbers of evo in a row, he’d be known as just one of the best MvC2 players and other than that, just another top us player”
I don’t care who you talk about.
JWong is the best MvC2 player… But that’s about it. In every other game, he’s just another top player.
I love how you say “just another top player” like it’s a common or easily achievable thing. If it’s so easy and not a big deal why don’t you do it?
O wait, you can’t, because you aren’t good enough… Not good enough to be considered a top player… Almost as if… If you are considered a top player, that means your better than a shit ton of people… Which means you are famous within the FGC… A person known to be a top contender…
That’s pretty cool if you ask me. And I’ve done and seen a lot of cool shit in my life
Again, missing my point because you’re reading too deeply into rhetorical syntax.
Straight out is this:
Everybody can be a fan of a player. I’m a fan of certain players myself, e.g. Boss, Komoda, Chris Schmidt, Fanatiq, Yipes, Combofiend, BAS, Muteki, etc.
I idolize none of them like some people. If Komoda suddenly decided to stop playing Blanka and switch to Dictator, I’d be like, “oh, cool”, but there’s no reason to make a thread about it. They’re top players. There’s a lot of them. Some people put them on higher pedestals than they deserve. Justin Wong defined how Marvel 2 was to be played. In every other game, he gets lost in the crowd of top players. Third Strike, Kuroda is the supreme innovator. I don’t think he plays any other games, and he’s a real douchebag in real life, after what I heard about him doing at SBO3. BAS is probably the best CvS2 player. Again though, what other game is he good at? They’re all good at what they do, but they’re all human and they all have their faults. I thought it was pretty dumb when people made a big deal about Michael Jordan playing baseball. The man’s entitled to do what he wants. I don’t have to be a top player to remark on somebody being “just another top player” in the same sense that a critic needs not be an actor to give a movie a bad review. Daigo is a great SF4 player. He’s a great SF3 player. He’s a great FG player in general… But in every game that he plays, there’s somebody that’s better. You want a real master of trade? Welcome to Tokido. The dude’s like top 5 in every game he plays.
I think Daigo is just trying to have some fun with the game. I don’t think it means he will be getting a new main.
