Well, I was only citing the best source I had, and I suppose I stand corrected. I had no intention of spreading disinformation.
Pfft. People need to stop sucking Daigo’s dick. He’s a great player and all, but he didn’t innovate any game that he’s ever played, and it’s not like SF4 has so many things people haven’t seen yet… This isn’t Marvel 2. If he didn’t make that Evo37 parry, he’d be known for the second best ST Ryu, and other than that, just another Japanese top player.
I feel Daigo has contributed towards IV’s innovation. He was among those that first demonstrated practical and high level application of option selects for example long before people outside of Japan understood them. I’d argue he has contributed a lot towards establishing common IV play-styles, techniques and strategies. He’s also renown for demonstrating pretty impressive play and pulling off clutch comebacks.
Its only natural that anyone maining a character Daigo is tinkering with will have their interest piqued. That’s not ‘dick riding’ at all. The same applies to any respected player considering other characters - of course its going to generate interest and discussion.
Gamestop finals, fullscreen DP with super buffered to punish Sim pressing buttons is pretty innovative.
Later refining that into cr.hp xx super is pretty innovative again.
If anyone has Daigo Akuma footage. PLs link me!! Akuma suites him coz he has amazing mind games & is an overall superb player. I think if he really commited to AKuma he could be better than Momochi & Tokido imo. Tokido has been an innovator & my fav akuma but it would be good if Daigo jumped on the wagon.
would be cool if he used evil ryu and tokido used oni
Mark my words, Daigo will main Ultra 2 because I have shown him the light.
If he uses Akuma he will be able to land ultra2 in EVERY single match.
Cr.lk xx cr.lp, cr.mp xx roflcopter!! Bam!!!
He’s opponents will dread te fact that they’ll have to endure the full ultra animation twice in a match hahahhaha
please explain this combo? or were you making a joke?
cr.mp gives enough hitstun to cancel it into a teleport then U2, it’s just that you have to do it really fast compared to st.hp or else it’ll get blocked.
oh i thought he was saying akuma can Cr.lk xx cr.lp, cr.mp xx tatsu xx Ultra 2
so why would you use cr.mp xx Ultra 2 instead of st.hp xx Ultra 2? is it because of the range of cr.mp?
St.hp often cannot be used after cr.lk, cr.lp (too much pushback). Many times after a whiffed DF palm setup you need to open the opponent up with cr.lk, so you cannot connect the st.hp.
Cr.mp xx teleport xx ultra 2 offers a meterless 350+ damage combo AND an untechable knockdown. IF you have the skill to perform it, it’s quite powerful, but it’s incredibly difficult. I’m training it now, but only with a 1/20 succes rate. Fujino lands it like it’s nothing to him.
In Daigo’s hands, I can imagine it to be his ultra of choice, despite the great uses for Ultra1
ohhhhhh eeeeenterestinggg. thanks man. gonna hit the lab.
edit: you say its difficult but can you give me exact numbers? like frames and stuff?
Dude, seriously to me it feels like a 0 frame cancel hahaha.
You have to perform the cr.mp xx teleport xx ultra 2 in PERFECT succession. With the cl.s. HP’s hitstun, you are forgiven allowed to have a shimmer of the teleports’ red flames to appear and it’ll still combo. However with cr.mp even if no flames appear, if you notice that your ultra2 didn’t come out as soon as you landed the cr.mp, you already know you fucked up.
Watch Fujino use it in the exact same setup as I suggested (DF palm whiff).
I don’t think you guys understand how to time Ultra 2 cancels. There are two time periods, instead of one, that you have to be concerned with. The time it takes you to cancel normal into teleport, and the time it takes you to cancel the teleport into Ultra 2.
The start up of Ultra 2 is 14 frames
Now cr.mp has 3 active frames, with 9 recovery. If it hits, you are left at +5 frames
This means if it hits on the first active frame, after 2 more active frames and 9 frames of recovery, you are at +5 frames.
So 2 + 9 + 5 is 16 frames of hit stun. Meaning that your cancel to teleport and cancel into U2 has to happen within 2 frames
Similar math gives st.hp. 2 / 26 / -6 for active / recovery / hit advantage. So 1 + 26 - 6 = 21 frames of hit stun. 21 - 14 = 7 frames. So your cancel to teleport and then cancel into Ultra 2 has to happen within 7 frames
Tell me if I’m not thinking of this the right way.
Aren’t the active frames skipped if you cancel a normal? Damn how is it even possible to perform that input in 2/60 of a second?
Daigo’s mastering Akuma now so he can use Akuma to body Sims when he mains Ryu or Ken. He don’t want nothing to do with Yun in the next patch lol…
Why is everyone like “OMG if Daigo picks Akuma he will be da bezt!” because maybe he will, but I can’t see how in any way he can discover anything that hasn’t been seen already, the game’s been out for a long, long time and I can’t possibly what Daigo could do with Akuma that would be so amazing. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big Daigo fan but it seems too much like dickriding, for real. Daigo in SSF4 is dominant but not THAT dominant, top Japanese players can / and have beaten him, it’s just Daigo travels so much to the US that he’s seen to be the best, but he’s not won anything in Japan for a while if I remember correctly. SBO, GG etc Before anyone says I’m not a Daigo hater.
Yes they are, but I was doing the math to determine how many frames of hit stun a move gives.
The algorithm I was going for was to figure out how many frames of hit stun a move gives.
(Active Frames - 1) + Recovery Frames + Hit Advantage Frames = Hit Stun Frames
Then the Cancel to Teleport and Cancel from Teleport to Ultra 2 would be:
Hit Stun Frames - Ultra 2 start up frames = Amount of time for inputs
I haven’t been very successful with cr.mp xx teleport xx U2. In my experience you want to be holding forward, then as you hit MP be hitting down (ie: cr.mp) and as soon as it hits, go to downforward+KKK (starts teleport) then up-forward then up+KKK
