Yeah, hes stronger than both of them and can play rushdown better than Ryu and zoning better than Akuma. Hes the Dante of Sfiv. Plus his health is 900 in AE 2012 and he just got buffs for no reason. If Daigo picks E.Ryu in AE 2012 he will do better than he would with Akuma or Ryu. BET!
I wasn’t implying he’s good, I was just saying that character design isn’t nearly as important as character viability.
Daigo should main Dan
Akuma is likely the least used of characters who are considered good. So your comment would be as or more relevant to any good character.

But at random-no-one-cares-about-online level Akuma is definitely one of the most (and worst) used character in the game. At least here in Europe.

With daigos execution, I could see him beasting with evil ryu. Maybe I’m just a noob but i didn’t know ppl considered evil ryu to be bad. His combos are so brutal, and the damage is nice too. Yeah his stamina is pretty low…but I don’t think that matters too much…
That could be said for almost any character though. Almost every week somebody is the new flavor for randoms to use.
I love how the community reacts to daigo playing a new character. I have a feeling this will be short lived but who knows… I was wrong last time (when daigo said he was switching to yun for the release of AE)

I didn’t mean people who jump around the screen like monkeys not having a clue about what they’re doing, I meant players who actually know what a BnB is.
Well if Daigo does use Akuma he will definitely be better than Tokido at two things - Fireball zoning and anti airs.(Tokido doesn’t punish enough jumps)
I see a shitload of Akuma scrubs on AE PC already, now all the Yun scrubs will just turn into Akumas…
I remember this one guy did srk, fadc, ex tatsu and then taunted me each time he did that combo…the rest of the match was fireballs…
He will immediately be better at just about everything that isn’t vortex setups. And even those, he’d probably learn them in 1 or 2 months. IF Daigo makes the switch to Akuma (which I don’t see happening btw) I can see him getting better than tokido in a matter of a few months.
Akuma scrubs are nothing to sweat. They get destroyed.
prepare for a flood of akuma users. at least akuma is wayyy harder to use than yun so a lot of the bandwagoners will fall off. let’s go start a rumour in the Dan forums, “Daigo maining Dan”, and see a sudden flood of Dan users ahha that would be funny.
no but really, i wanna see Daigo back on top so i hope he mains Akuma cause he is by far the best shoto in the game and i think akuma would fit his playstyle very well.

because he’s a legend, an icon, and a staple in the SF Universe. people want to be like Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Wayne Gretzky, Roger Federer… and Daigo Umehara. he’s earned his respect and i dont understand why some people refuse to give it to him.

Ryu’s rushdown consists of frame traps/cross ups and pretty much bullying his way with footsies.
E.Ryu has all that, cept hes also got a bit of Akuma’s flavor- vortex like tatsu, shoryu after tatsu, dive kick which is better than Akuma’s (granted he cant do it in a vortex) demon set ups, etc.
His fireball leans more to Ryu’s- faster startup > more recovery, its a miniscule detail but it wins him the fireball game against Akuma at least
And hes stronger than both of them in damage output if you’re doing his best combos. I play this dude offline who can play any shoto and he shows me that E.Ryu is obv a force to be reckoned with. As well as other E.Ryus ive played online. In AE hes not the best but in 2012 just watch a wait bro :tup:
