Ultra Street Fighter 4 | General Lounge

Vanilla Seth and Akuma were easily the most broken characters in this series when played at the highest level. The only thing that kept it balanced somewhat was that 750 health was more like having 500 health in the current meta.

In Vanilla Seth was never played to his fullest potential, OnlineTony was losing to players like Alex Valle, other than that there were no high level Seth. Poongko was a Ryu main and Seth was simply his backup.

And Seth was banned in France, fucking ridiculous.

Seth being unplayable in arcades likely contributed to that a lot.

If only it had stayed that way.

If only he was still unplayable in arcades? It doesn’t even concern you, big tournaments are played on console anyway.

Sometimes people want to stick to a decision regardless of how likely that it might get shot down. Like throwing someone on their wake up 3+ times in a row. The 3rd throw might get tech’d/reversal’d/jumped into full combo, or the opposing player might think his opponent would do something like a meaty; so they’d block and commit to it.

Of course this is regarding high level players.

A shitty Chun that you KNOW is more likely than not, going to wake up with the same option is far easier to predict than a great player considering the same option. You could possibly list every single habit and option that chun player does during your match and effectively counter them all since they’re so predictable.

Against a better player you can’t assume these things as easily. Even more so if it’s someone like Daigo.

edited, forgot the quote

Characters not available in arcades are 90% of the time banned on console for tournaments. See: Guilty Gear with Klif and Judgement.

Am I the only person who is genuinely fond of Seth? Come on, guys, he’s cool.

edit: disregard post on Ibuki.

So USFIV wants to be CVS2?

You’re not alone!

people still upset about seth?

sounds like he took a huge tanden engine shit in your guy’s cereal bowl

Seth is fun to play as because he’s basically a combo machine, it’s like playing Marvel while everyone else is playing SF. However other than that he is a dull design graphically and mechanically. The only remotely interesting mechanic he has is the tanden engine which unfortunately they MASSIVELY overdid the range and frame data on while also putting it on a character who has so many other good tools that the one area he should be weak in (footsies) is something he can completely negate.

Should have been more like Baiken’s claw pull in Guilty Gear, limited frame count for active portion, doesn’t go FULL screen (Seriously WTF with Seth’s HP Tanden going literally a half step short of full screen.) and shouldn’t have had projectile invincibility (unless it HITS, if it hits then he should have projectile invincibility IMO just to prevent stupid stuff like opponent throws fireball - gets grabbed - now can do a combo off of the fireball) and it shouldn’t have granted SO MUCH frame advantage. I mean I get that the frame advantage varies based on distance but comeon, +19F on block at point blank?

Nah most people dislike Seth, even in my local scene Seth gets hated, the «Seth doesn’t play SF» i’ve heard from people in my community before I joined this forum.

I don’t see a single thing to like about him besides his gameplay, which itself is polarizing.

Everything else is pretty readily dislikeable and forgettable.

Seth is the greatest comedian in SF history (sorry Dan).

  • Tanden Typhoon pose
  • Quotes (“THIS IS NOTHING”, “BEHOLD THE GLORY OF THE TANDEN ENGINE, GAHAHAHA”, “BECOME A PART OF ME… LMFAO”)
  • Makes stolen specials and normals look sick/stylish. (Hyakuretsukyaku, SRK, SPD…)
  • His Supers and Ultras are pretty sick, too.
  • While not exactly well-written - this being SF “lore” we’re talking about - he’s fairly decent as a Big Bad. He would have been an even better if they stuck with the whole Cain x Abel thing they were going for, but I digress.

Seth, in my opinion, is only hated because he is extremely obnoxious from a gameplay perspective, both in the hands of the CPU(vanilla) and a player. But I liked Gill, too, so I could just be fucking nuts.

Well, our opinions here could not be any more different. I think he looks like a derped, naked, bald Ken doll pile of garbage who spouts flat, boring lines and sails through the air like a dumbshit bird with a broken wing during his srk.

His screams “generic and mediocre.”

But I also think Akuma is a huge dork and people love that “badass” guy. So.

According to this there will be a location test in Japan for USF4 on the 22nd-24th of November. Rolento/Elena/Hugo/Poison will be playable and red focus/double ultra and delayed stand mechanics will also all be in the build.

So this Friday we can expect to start hearing some of the current changes in place and how the 4 ported characters played out. Should be interesting to see how Elena’s heal super(or ultra) works out in USF4. Also I wonder if the complete change list will be available at the japan location tests like they were stated to be for the USA ones.

That golden footage will finally be on Youtube by the 21st cause it will be the 22nd in japan before us, so even less of a wait… Finally a chance to study the game and really give us something to talk about…
