I think it’s because the game think you want to do a 2in1 but because you don’t tuch your opponent the special doesn’t come out, and because you end up blocking the special has the priority over the guard but I’m not convinced it works this way… I don’t really get it.

Because top players aren’t infallible, nobody should remark that throwing out ex sbk is not a great idea if you don’t know it will succeed?
But then again, some top players like to mash and sometime they’re stubborn when they shouldn’t.
Just watch a bunch of Kazunoko’s matches for a good example lol. Hell, Haitani makes half his comeback because he mashes Ultra if he get stunned.
The fact is here, mashing a reversal when your reversal isn’t even that good is gonna get you killed stupidly.
you think dash kara -> u1 is bad … she used to have a 12f dash in 3s, sa1 started in 2 frames, karakusa reached as far as stand mp, and ex hayate was +2 on block. now there’s a character.
I was playing ae and seeing what characters can combo into level one focus. A lot of interesting stuff only close fierce seems to work for the most part with normal. Notable ones to me were ex greenhand which is pretty good on its own, if they make it knockdown in ultra I don’t think it will work. Makoto can get it off of hayate, which seems really good.
Others that can combo into level one focus are
Yun jab shoulder, yang strong palm, Dudley ducking upper and forward st. fierce, ehonda hhs, eryu hcf kick, juri pinwheel, cody criminal upper, guy stong fierce tc. chun can get it off of her qcb kick, which means she would have a overhead into ultra.
Of course this is all if red focus works the way I seem to think it does. But all the things above potentially could combo into full ultra’s.

I wish they would just give her back what she had, instead of doing crazy stuff like make Fukiage hit grounded opponents, which was never meant to be.

Sa1 which is Ultra1 is still one of the fastest non grab Ultra in the game right now in SF4.
