all these new mechanics is just more chaos in a game full of random madness.
so this is all silly nonsense anyway.
SF4…like SF3…is a joke.
because the people who made both games don’t know what they are doing regarding the fighting game genre.
They aren’t the geniuses that made SF2 good.
Those people left long ago.
He probably did c.HP into SRK or something. And even if that actually happened, you can’t really judge the game on a once-in-a-liftetime glitch like that…
I thought everyone was asking for delayed wake up and now everyone is complaining. I personally think it’ll be fine, change is good for the game and the more it strays from the current meta the better. The game will become more footsie orientated now too and I thought people wanted that.
That’s been happening ever since the dawn of time. People don’t always make their praise heard, but they sure try hard to complain whenever possible. It’s in our nature. Those who wanted the delayed wake up are happily quiet :3
Wish that were true, but SF4 has a bunch of mechanics to allow the worse player to prevail. It happens far more than in any fighting game I’ve ever played.
This. I’m not the greatest but nothing is more frustrating than losing to someone you shouldn’t have because LOLULTRA. It isn’t bad for most characters but today I was playing a mediocre Makoto who won both rounds by doing her command grab then ultra. How is this fair, at all? Other characters have easy ultras to pull off, like sakrua/rufus/balrog, but a god damn command grab to ultra? Really capcom… I was pretty salty, not going to lie, so I sent a message pretty much saying how he only won because of how easy it is to land and his response was “it balances her out.”
-_-
If you play against someone who keeps grabbing you every chance they get, you should stay out of grab range. Normally I’d say you should learn how to tech, but you can’t tech a command grab. I can’t wait for the guy you sent the message to, to post it in the scrubquotes thread.
@Saitsu I think both you and @blufang have valid points. A simple reality check can be done by playing KOF 13, which has a rock-solid engine and isn’t forgiving at all. I don’t think a mashed reversal of mine has ever come out on wake-up in that game, lol. I know *technically * an opponent shouldn’t be able to LOLULTRA in AE if your strings have no gaps, but I swear it feels really inconsistent at times. And the focus attack is much more forgiving in use than, say, the parry in 3S. I think there’s a huge difference in risk-reward between the two. I have the footsies to play 3S but I SUCK at it because I can’t time a parry for shit. And half the time I’m afraid to try because I’ll eat a poke. Its nuts.
SF4 is the most “noob-friendly” fighter I’ve ever played. Which can be both good and bad.
A whiffed command grab = punishable as fuck(47f recovery for Karakusa). Also a command grab is actually a very risky move, which can be avoided through staying outside of throw range or in this case jumping. Makoto is walking very slow, so for getting into this position(The grab range is even lower than Chun Li´s regular throw) and using the grab, she should get some reward(If you ask me) for taking the risks. A wrong guess means for her being put into a bad situation. How is her wakeup game vs Gouki btw?
Assuming that you are playing Gouki, he has only 850 health. In other words fighting against a hard hitter means, he will simply suffer more, if he is hit by something. When Makoto gets in, she can turn the fight very quickly in her favour, if she gets momentum it can turn into a squash match.
So, when you want to chip someone with say a EX DP, you have to be really sure that it will hit them as it was mentioned you cannot discern between a normal and a delayed wakeup apparantely(which is bs)
Makoto’s don’t walk and use command grab. When they are losing they just do random dashes and command grab you and if you’re not jumping like crazy to avoid it you’re going to get grabbed. Punishing command grab isn’t actually as easy as you say, it depends on positioning. If you jump back depending on your character you can’t punish it, but if you neutral jump you can but that’s a 50/50 in itself since if the Mak is good they can punish you neutral jump.
