Karin is a female Fei Long with different rekka followups, no flame kick and a special counter (instead of an Ultra), she’s sort of interesting, but Fei Long is one of the SF2 guys, and they are more important to Capcom as a whole, so it’s understandable that they went with Fei instead of her.
People are hypocritical if they want Karin but not the Cammy/Claw hybrid and most of the people who ask for Alex and Karin just do it because everyone else does. I mained Karin in A3 btw.
I have never had any interest in Karin. At all. If anyone deserves a chance, it could be Twelve with an entirely new buff. Though this would be after all the others who need to come back are brought.
That saying, I think Guard Burst would be awesome as the new mechanic. Prevent characters from blocking all the time and cause a more offensive style. This was coming from Xian at Capcom Cup: bring back an old gimmick that worked? Yes please.

Well it is their goal right now. Its the only one I can think of that works. And by good defence; all that implies mostly is blocking low for the most part.
Unless they give variable wake ups to certain characters and guard meters to others; that could be a method.
Though what I think would be useful is a penalise on throws so that you cannot just jab jab and throw straight after. Third strike handled it well in that case, but at the same time not too difficult. Hard to explain I guess.
Not hypocritical at all. Karin and Fei Long have similarities but they aren’t close to clones. Different followups, gouken high/low counters, many of her specials caused juggle states, completely different set of normals. She’s a lot different than Fei, and played as more of a rush down character than a turtle counter attacker.

Removing Tech OS alone would help a ton. Even better, fix the Yoloken shortcut as well. Game becomes roughly two bazillion times more aggressive because low/throw is suddenly scary instead of a joke.
Guard meters will just lead to more mashing reversals during block strings.
Don’t forget that GODLIKE AA of hers. Also I think her Counter will work more Like Asuka’s. That is a prime example how counters should work IMO. None of that Gouken or Dudley counter nonsense

I would like alpha counters in this game I actually like that feature…but it should cost 2 bars in this game.

Your idea of “good defence” is incredibly limited. Actually good defence involves getting out of bad situations in top of not taking damage in those bad situations, and more importantly, not letting your opponent put you in those bad situations in the first place. Being “good at blocking and teching” is obviously important, but is only the simplest (although not always easiest) part of good defence.
