Ultra Street Fighter 4 | General Lounge

Well execution is what adds to a fighter. 1F links are part of that. But if it gets to a point where people say “Don’t bother maining Sakura if you can’t get her 1F links down.” (James Chen) then here’s a problem.

Don’t bother playing Eddie if you don’t have 16 hands :stuck_out_tongue:

XD I won’t lie I tried to do a Senpusha Cr. HP corner juggle, LOL!
I played SFxTK for a good while and things just became automatic. I definitely noticed how terrible Juri’s Cr.MK and St. Mp is in SSF4 compared to SF x TK along with her slower speed.
Point of fact Juri and Chun are both better in SFxTk than SSF4; I’m hoping they get nice buffs to be competitive.
I know they’ve revealed some of Chun’s, but I can’t pass judgment until I know what her opponents new versions look like in comparison.

My fear is they do this big rebalance and nothing really changes in terms of match up comparisons. The need to learn new things will be available but in the newer meta game I don’t see how you can take a 7-3 match up in a character’s favor and make it 5-5 without screwing over another match up entirely.

And this is before we start bringing character specific combos into the mix in a game with 39 (soon to be 40+) characters.

I like SFxT Chun Li more since the lightning legs and fireball are motions. Chun always felt restricted with a charge, and doing lightning legs with a motion gives a lot more control. :frowning:

Vega’s also really good in SFxT, since his footsies can always lead into good damage.

I agree with rayartz. Basic Juri in SFxTK is somewhat superior. Being able to jump cancel crouch fierce on hit and comboing out of overhead is nice. Plus her super(U2 inSF4) has a backwards hit box. Fuhajin having damn near no knockback is good for combos too, but I suppose that was needed because no more FADC’s

LI honestly prefer Vega overall in IV. Come at me.

My deep wishes:

  • shorter throw tech window
  • faster walkspeeds
  • all crouch shorts 4 frames or slower
  • no DPxxFADC on block
  • maybe slightly higher damage on normal throws, but no hard knockdown

Numerical ping indication would be nice.

There is perhaps one thing I wish would be changed the most. And that’s to make the inputs on supers a tad more strict to input. I’m always terrified sometimes while having full meter because if I so even blink the wrong way while trying to input say a dp for example I’ll get a super when I don’t want it and blow all my meter. It’s mostly a pain when having to use the shortcut to do a srk while crouching. Like trying to do Ken’s cr.lp,cr.lp,hp.srk. I always find myself having to sacrifice one bar of meter just to be sure that doesn’t happen. lol

Yeah, I like Chun much more as a motion character.
I just can’t ever feel comfortable using her as a charge character.

On the subject of links, I suck at 1Frame links so badly… and I play Rose, so I usually just don’t even bother with her B&B combo.

The one frame links is a nice chunk of the reason I like this game. I discovered plinking not too long ago, and I think that’s pretty awesome too. I like doing it.

I’d like to see the reversal windows tightened, and the shortcuts a lot less dumbed down. I was watching one of my replays the other day cause I was reversed out of a simple 2 hit combo, and I just wanted to see if I waited too long to do x move. When I was watching the other persons inputs…Cheezus man, I’ve never seen anything like it. I don’t have to explain what I saw cause I’m sure most all yall know what I’m talkin about. That mash…

I mean, it seems like the days of execution and timing are coming to a near. After seeing that, I can understand why there are one frame links to try and balance out the ease of doing reversals and special moves, but the ease and leniency of em is pretty ridiculous, to me. But hey, that’s how it’s gon be I guess.

I don’t particularly care if Chun’s FBs are motion or charge, but I think that motion lightning legs shit in SFxT is dumb. Easy input to basically do what Honda does with HHS in this game except from her far st. MP range: safely do a lot of chip and build a ton of meter (even Gen can’t do that much chip from that far), so when you finally get near her you usually have to worry about her just alpha-countering out and starting the same thing again. And it’s a safe tag option unless the opponent alpha-counters (which can’t kill btw).
This is in addition to her keepaway game being good because d/f+ lk is dangerous again and her far ranged pokes can be boost comboed into good damage anyway. 'Cant really throw FBs at her either because her super punishes them easier than her ultra 1 does in this game (but it is less damage and slightly slower on startup). The only thing she doesn’t really have in that game is damage comparable to the other characters (it’s still decent because it’s SFxT, but other characters can kill quicker off of an opening).

I don’t think that lighting legs input would fly in this game either unless you want her to be OP or weaken some of the good things she actually gets from Legs in this game (which I personally don’t want changed… I like having a really fast super and ultra and I like the frame advantage of Legs on hit granting multiple follow-ups and I think it’s one of the reasons she can’t easily get in and do legs all day from far st. mp).
Most of the other good stuff she has I’m fine with (like a 6f b+mk and d/f+lk being legit), but I think that easy legs shit just gives her a really boring way to be good in that game and kills my excitement or interest in even playing her… so I don’t. I play another team in that game, but in this game she’s really the only character I find interesting enough to want to keep playing, so I hope she doesn’t change that much and devolve into that monotonous style of play just to be considered “good”.

Eff yeah for Fuhajin. What makes her actually solid in that is mostly the cr.hp though. She actually gets a reward for fulfilling her gameplan rather than scoring 70 damage at a time via cr.mp and having them reset. If Fuhajin did more damage in sf4 or cr.mp put them in a juggle state that only lk senpusha or fuhajin store would hit that’d go a long way. Also in SFxT she doesn’t drop people mid-move nearly as often.

Oh god, yeah, that was a rough habit to break, too. I even had a couple times where I went on autopilot and tried to jump cancel into j.HP afterward.

Seconding this hard. I’ve taken to using EX Fuhajin as a pressure valve release just to avoid accidentally supering whenever I try to do a pinwheel with full meter. I would have preferred they made them one motion and three buttons instead of two motions and one button, but it’s probably too late to go back and change that now and it might cause a conflict with some characters’ ultra inputs.

WORD THAT SHIT!
Motion LLegs is stupid, its been ‘rapid tap’ since her birth, keep it that way.
Now for her Kikoukens… first she’s charge, then she’s motion, then charge again, and motion again.
CAPCOM - PICK ONE and stick with it! That comes from a Chun-Lifer

Side note:
Standing420 mention no DP xx FADC on block.
I dig that! It’s one thing to save your ass, but to make it completely safe to continue pressure is a joke.
But that is coming from a guy who uses two character that don’t rely on FADCs to be successful.

Did anyone ever read the SF 2 manga? Honda was obsessed with Chun Li. I guess rapid button people stick together.

Though the manga did have my guy ripping the thread off Chun Li in a cage match and showing some skin.

Still, I guess it’s like high school again. Shoto are the cool kids. Power girls are the divas. Wrestlers are the sport freaks and rejects. Chargers are the nerds. And, actually frigg it I have no idea what I’m saying…

Course Gouken is the principle or headmaster.

You did NOT just call Guile a nerd did you? :stuck_out_tongue:

I swear Capcom If the 5th character isn’t Karate Clown I’ll be very disappointed.

Clearly.

It’s way past my bedtime.

Charlie got Guile out that habit. Guile wanted to be a pizza delivery boy at first. He knew his hairstyle was perfect, but Charlie put on his glasses and he said: no. When in doubt, sonic boom.

And I’m done for the night.
