I might be apart of the minority when I say this, but I enjoy 1F links because it gives me a sense of satisfaction when I land them in a match, because I know all of the training payed off (I dont plink).
I think it’s funny how they went out of their way to try and simplify the game with shortcuts, Ultras, and god knows what else then slap a ton of 1 framers into characters BnB combos. Either simplify execution or don’t.
I think they were trying to make specials and supers really easy so even the most casual players could pull them off with ease, while at the same time making 1 frame links for those who like hardcore execution. I don’t like hardcore execution, I don’t like training mode in fact I hate it. I play games to play against other people, not practice combos a million times.
I didn’t say I can’t perform difficult links. I said I don’t think there’s anything wrong with links not being difficult. Like if suddenly the window opened up and the tightest links were 3 frames, I don’t think anything would be lost from the game.
Ono stated he wanted SF4 to be a game that everybody can enjoy, people can mash and pull off special moves like they want. They wanted to attract the general public, while still leaving some technical aspects for the more hardcore players.
I don’t agree with it necessarily but that’s how it is.
Edit : On topic, I think anything that isn’t 1F is piss easy, Seth has no 1F links to worry about so i’m cool.
The problem is that they thought that what the core SF vet wants is execution and “hard stuff”, when in reality, what most players want is simply a decent game.
