Alpha and CvS also allowed you to customize the subsystems to maximize your character/teams’s strengths and minimize their weaknesses. I’m hoping that USF4’s system changes go beyond ‘choose one ultra or two nerfed ultras’ because that’s nowhere near as cool as the groove system in CvS2.
And if Capcom is to take anything from the older Street Fighter games and apply it to USF4, it should be how neutral-game-focused they were.
It’d be a ton of work but a “groove mode” even if it’s not the core versus mode would be a neat addition. Something like the Heroes and Heralds type system in UMVC3 where they don’t even try and balance it but they just give you options to play in a groove based off of one of the games in the SF series (Alpha2/ST/3S/Alpha3/SF4/Hyper Fighting)
Everyone wants Sagat to be top tier once they realize the alternative is crazy rushdown mixups that lead to more crazy rushdown mix ups. at least sagat can be put in a bad situation.
remember that when SF5 drops and sagat is top before you all cry to Capcom again
Daigo picking Rolento just tells me that Rolento will have an amazing neutral game. Great, I’ve been waiting to main him ever since using him in SFxT. And yeah, his SFxT version is fantastic.
I mained Rolento back in A3, and I absolutely loved the way he played. I mained him when SFxT came out, and I realized how neutered his movement was comparatively. While I still mained him in SFxT, it wasn’t the Rolento I remembered. I hope they can change him so he’s less reliant on mixups, but a faster footsie/rushdown hybrid.
Now that all the previously released costumes will be on disc… Can we get random alternate costumes/colors when selecting random characters and when fighting the AI? Like in 3D edition?
TBH other than Adon and ALL of the characters they have ever brought over from Alpha ended up losing a lot in terms of footsies and mobility. Guy used to be one of the fastest characters in Alpha. Cody was about the same speed as Ryu and had safer criminal upper and far normals that could be canceled and of course: Dodge. Rose was faster and had Soul Illusion and better hitboxes on some of her pokes. Sakura was worse in Super but got buffed hard in AE to make her strong.
I don’t understand the “make focus attacks more viable” request at all. Focus attacks are, if anything, too strong thanks to counter hit level 1 focus crumples and level 2 focus - dash pressure for a safe way in. Look at the stuff PR Balrog was doing with focus attack at EVO and Balrog’s focus is considered easily one of the worst in the game other than it’s damage.
Hard knockdown after throws and sweeps is stupid, 3S doesn’t have shit like this. This way you would remove a ton of unblockables. Hard knockdown must come after command throws and specials only like EX neckbreaker. They could add hard knockdown to moves like EX fireballs, for example. This way you can apply pressure on wake up but it would be hard to do an unblockable setup
Focus gets broken by too many moves. Even the new Dhalsim’s sMK with double hit now will break focus. Too many armor breakers and multi-hit moves, against Adon for exaple is useless
Your primary way of getting in on a character shouldn’t be focus dash, Adon for example is probably the best scrub killer in the game because all of his important tools prevent derping your way into his face via focus attack and he forces you to play footsies. What I’m getting at, is focus dash should not be an alternative to learning footsies but unfortunately because every character does not have a useful armor breaking/multi hitting move, it’s too good of an option not to use, and there aren’t very many changes they can make to the cast to make focus dash a less viable option.
And what? Awful walk speed? The average walk speed in this game is too slow to play nice footsies, that’s a problem.
It’s not about scrubs, it’s that focus is almost useless. It gets full damage while it should get half or something like that, and it loses against a TON of moves in the game. The only really good focus is Hakan’s one probably
wow, i now have been informed that good walk speed equates to footsies and characters with bad walk speed should be doing focus dash to get in, which by that logic zangief should disregard his primary footsie tools st.lk and st.mp and should only be using focus dash to get in, and kens walk speed isnt too amazing, so fuck step kick and kara throws, focus dash is where its at. in turn, thank you for replying, everyone who has read that comment is now just a little more likely to be diagnosed with cancer
